The adventure: Ghost Tower of Inverness. The party: a bunch of morons.

These guys wasted several weeks of my life with their idiocy, culminating in this asinine event. They reach the part of the module with the long hallway where they have to outrun a boulder. They open the door, see said boulder barreling towards them and run. The boulder falls in a pit in nearby room and disappears. They return to the door and open it, see a boulder barreling towards them and run. The boulder falls in a pit in nearby room and disappears. They return to the door, this time opening it just a crack to peek inside, see a boulder barreling towards them and run. The boulder falls in pit and disappears. They return to door, party thief quickly opens door and tries to flatten his body against one wall to have the boulder roll past him. The party sees thief crushed, run from boulder and the boulder falls in a pit in nearby room before disappearing. Party is weary of this trap and proceed to other tower. Thief, who wasn't killed by this illusory boulder, follows party to the next tower.

While fighting a group of monsters, the thief arrives to help. "Hey, guys!" he says.

The party see him and say: "He's a ghost, kill him!"

I seriously consider finding another hobby as the party attacks their friend and kill him.

PC cleric trying to explain the concept of a soul to a hatchling dragon PC.

Cleric: It's a part of you, just like your arms. What would you be without your arms?
Dragon: A wyvern.

TPK story #2 (short version):

1Ed/2Ed hybrid campaign centered around "Epic" PC wizard...
The party is fighting a powerful enemy with lots of followers.
He lets loose with a big Delayed Blast Fireball...without realizing we're in a Wild Magic Zone. The area of the spell increases, as does the # of D6s rolled, and very few survived.

On either side.

TPK #3

The party: A human and a Dwarf among Halflings and Gnomes...almost but not quite Snow White and her Infamous 7.

We're all underground, Human on point (he can see in the dark due to magic), traversing a skinny ridge over a chasm. For "safety," the human has tied us all together.

The human rounds a corner that opens up into a broad landing, big enough to camp in...except its currently occupied by a Behir. Instead of strategically retreating so we can come up with a plan, the player had his PC charge. Yes, we were still attached.

Because of this, he was yanked off his feet mid-charge. The Behir thus got a free attack on him...and maxed out its bite, swallowing him whole. Then it worked its way up the rope for the rest of the party. The human was the meatball, we were the spaghetti.

One PC successfully cut himself free...only to be killed falling into the ravine as he fled (failed Dex check due to negative "running in a panic" modifier).

A single death...

The epic wizard's party again.

This time, in the face of an oversized learnean pyrohydra (while the party was weakened), the Mighty Mage erected a Prismatic Sphere to protect the party, locating its centerpoint very, very precisely on the map. (Yay!)

And then realized something...

"Um...which side of the Prismatic Sphere is the Paladin on?"

My paladin got in a few swings before being made into lizard food. (Boooooooo!)

PC near death from fellow PC: 1e/2e hybrid days... a half giant fighter with big club, elven magic-user. We were all fighting in a hallway when the 1/2 giant crit misses. One roll on the fumble charts = crit hit friend! Nearest friend? Little elf wizard who gets KOed, but not dead from the blow.

In highschool I had a few obnoxious PC's that other party members took things into their own hands.

One was a halfling thief who insulted everything that moved. Eventually in a ruined city it all came around. I was being chased by a frost giant after wandering off on my own. The NPC cleric and fighter/thief are on guard at a ruined temple enterance. The grass was overgown enough that i ran in and used it as cover from the giant, trying to be quiet and get to my party. Not knowing what was going on, the F/Th with bow of speed shoots at my rustling, 4 arrows! Some actually hit, wounding me. So i cry out and run into the temple, with the alerted giant coming. As i get in the main hall the giant catches up, beats me to unconsciousness, then leaves. The rest of the party was just coming out of the inner workings of the temple and see the giant leave. Our Wizard/ Cleric PC (worships god of knowledge) comes over as if to aid me... just slits my throat and finishes me off. He is visited by a vision of his god who lectures him on the killing, said PC promptly tosses his holy book at his god telling him to go to heck. God image dissapears and a real live dragon emissary touches down to chomp him. Scratch two PCs.

Before the halflings death, he managed to kill another PC. While in the mountains, looking for the lost city, my halfing spys a dragon in the distance, hurls an insult thinking it's "too far away"... it hears, it comes, it demands tribute... wants (what we all reveal) is the fighters +2 platemail... fighter refuses. It is a Neutral Gem Dragon with a sleep gas breath weapon, which we all fail our saves... except the fighter. Still refusing to give up his armor, he blows his Horn of Valhalla netting two fighters... quickly the are all killed and when we awake from our nap. The fighter is just gone!

Those were the days!

One of our first 3e outings, we played an 'all evil' campaign. It didn't work out, as you might imagine.

Someone played a 1/2 orc. It was introduced by riding towards us from about a mile away, and we could see it coming.

The main enemy at the time was orcs.

Fireball has a jolly long range, it turns out...

They figure the fighter should quit whining- fire doesn't hurt that much.

Emphasis mine - that's the quote of the thread, right there.
