as a lover of Dark Sun and illithids (*) , I really need a psionics book for 4th ed!
So when will such come out?
Enquiring minds want to know, yes they do!!! *psychic aura probes WOTC brains!*
(*) well, ok, I don't love the brain suckers in the...hentai way... , but as a DM I do adore the slimey sods! So many PCs with Int and Wis as dump stats, munchy time! )
Most likely either in 2010 in PHB3 or in 2011 in PHB4.
(((Fingers crossed hopeing))) rumor has it 2010 will introduce Dark Sun as a campign setting for 4e...so that leads to Phb 2 being 4 psionic classes, 2 elmental classes, and 2 other classes...

As I've argued elsewhere, I think that we'll get only two power sources in PH3, with 4 classes each, so that we can get two "power" books in 2010.
Yeah hope they do a decent job of Dark Sun!! (like, ignore just about everything after the very first boxed set ,hehe)
Psionics has been such a long time part of D&D, the delay seems a wasted opportunity
At moment I am just house ruling psionicists to use warlock class, as best I can do for a psionic class.
Your only gonna see new Power Sources as complete Classes (already have for instance a Shadow PP) in the PHBs. So as such, it will be down to PHB3 or PHB4 for Psionics. My bet will be PHB3, of all the Power Sources it is probably the most wanted/talked about (from what I have seen).
I am really interested in seeing what angle they are going to go with for it. Will they try to make it more fantastical, keep pseudoscience in it, etc. I personally want pseudoscience for Psionics.

I really expected psionics to show up with the Eberron campaign setting this summer. They were an integrated part of that world design, and I'd hate to think of the 4E version of it being released without them. I'm thinking that the Eberron Player's Guide may include something about them.
If not by then, a smart release would be in PHB3, if Dark Sun is next year's campaign setting. That would place the psionics classes directly between the release of Eberron and Dark Sun.

While psionics are probably integrated into Eberron better than any other campaign setting, with the obvious exception of Dark Sun, I wouldn't exactly call them integral, at least not to the core parts of the setting, Khorvaire and Xen'drik. Psionics are mostly restricted to Sarlona, Dal Quor, the Dreaming Dark, and the Kalashtar (all of which are related together); I expect that they would be addressed (and really, the Inspired, Quori, and Kalashtar can be modeled with the existing rules in the PHB and MM), but not in any sort of indepth fashion.
My bet is that psionics will be in PHB3, since if you were going to discuss earlier edition classes in terms of power sources, they'd be fairly popular and have traction. I actually think that of the remaining 4 power sources, the next PHBs will couple the ones with more traction and history (psionics and ki) with one that is new to the edition (or just newer to the game). My bet is that PHB3 will have Psionics and Shadow, PHB4 will have Ki and Elemental.

Not that this'll stop WotC. After all, they released Forgotten Realms 4e without Druids. There are entire regions of the FR map that druids are integral to.

Yep, and they still mentioned them throughout the book too.

Careful there! Mind Flayers get very offended if anybody suggests they use their tentacles for anything other than brain-eating!
Xorloz the Flayer: "Eww! Even where I come from that's perverse! Can I just eat your brain and be done with it?"

Why is this--it runs contrary to the pattern established in the first two PHBs. Plus, If Dark Sun is the year 3 setting, then I'd expect to see some elemental classes in that PHB.

When will Psionics for 4th Edition come out? I'd say the first trickle comes in about a month or two. When will Wizards of the Coast release psionics material? My best guess is 2010, or if we're really unlucky, 2011.

I am willing to bet that the Psionic Power Source will be in the PHB3. It and Ki seem to be the frontrunners for that book. I think it is pretty much a toss-up between Elemental, Shadow, and a second go at Martial for the third Power Source in that book.
Out of curiosity, why would Elemental be linked to Dark Sun? I don't know much about that setting.

For the reason that I stated in my post: so that two power books can be published in 2010.
PHB1 has 3 sources because everyone expects D&D to have some kind of fighter, rogue, wizard and cleric. Given the initial spread, PHB2 also needed to have 3 sources, so that they could bring divine and arcane to at least 4 classes each.
