Remember that old martial arts game Dragon Fist from WotC they released for free back in the day? I finally had lulu.com print me a softcover color copy since I was tired of reading the pdf every couple of months.
Wow! It really is impressive. They did a great job with it. If it wasn't so expensive I would have gotten the hard cover. Makes me actually want to play the game! Has anyone played it before? Thoughts on it? Fun? Boring? I really like the "AD&D 2.75" rules it has, especially the Stunt system.
I printed DF out in color, back when it was released, and made a wallpaper and a character sheet for it. Never got a chance to run it, but it reads darn sweet!
It really does read very easy and very sweet! And it's a shame nothing ever came of it. However, part of me is almost glad because I fear that if it did it would have come closer to D&D 3.0 than it already is and that would have made the system unnecessarily complicated. It's very streamlined and simple without being boringly simple. I wish the add on Pramas was making would have surfaced. Too bad. I've considered trying to make a Mortal Kombat sourcebook for it.
When it came out I was working in the support wing of . . . umm . . . a major corporation's marketing department *cough*. I printed off 6 color laser double-sided physical copies of the game in the event I got my group to try it. I regret never having the chance to play but I still have all six print outs. I almost thought I lost them too, having misplaced them for 5 years and had trashed my downloaded .pdfs(!). Only when we bought our new house and I was able to unbox all of my RPG collection did I find them again. There was a lot of jumping and dancing that day.
What I would do to get my hands on the .pdfs again. *sigh*
I think I still have them on an old hard drive that I've never bothered to hook back up, but I'm not sure.
I have a physical copy. A friend of mine was working for the University printing services so he made a couple of copies. Most of it was black and white except the Map and the cover page (it was hardbound and the cover is blank). We never got the adventure put in, but that's no big deal. Still have it on my bookshelf.
I think Chris really wants to put it out. It seemed to me he just got frustrated with all the hangups and then there were some fans who were getting pretty vicious in wanting to know when it was coming out on the boards. I would be one of the first in line to buy it if he does though.

Check out deleted link - don't post links to file-sharing sites, please. If Green Ronin wants to release this, thats up to them -Kid Charlemagne here. You can download the individual files there.
I believe that cover is the one GR was going to use. And the book itself on that site in particular seems to be something very similar to print on demand like lulu.com.
I'm also eagerly awaiting the day we see Dragon Fist again. The mechanics and setting were geared for pure fun. But, I don't think that we'll see it anytime soon.
Yeah, it has a few things I don't care for, Vancian magic for one, but I'd rather that than the powers of 4e. I don't know why because I think the powers system is ok. I also don't like how you can't use armor and do stunts, but I think I saw one of the NPCs listed having armor and a stunt. Of course that could just be my head messing with me. I really would love to see fan creations for that system. I think it was very hip for its time and it unfortunately got lost in the 3e explosion/shuffle.
I am trying to get games running for three different systems (unfortunately I really only play a few times a year so this is all just fancy wishes for me, lol) and now I want to run Dragon Fist. And I want to work on sourcebook type material for both Dragon Fist and C&C/EQ.
When it seemed we might do some 4E support, Dragon Fist was a serious contender for one of the initial projects. The GSL killed that idea though.
Mr. Pramas. In the flesh! Err, virtual flesh... So I remember there being talk of a sourcebook of more martial arts maneuvers and things like that. Did that ever become of anything? I'd like to hear some tidbit treasures of anything that you might have made for the game as I think the system design is simply brilliant for being a class/level system. The entire thing was just so well written and I would LOVE to know if there is anything floating around that would add to the already cool game!
[Edit] By the way, I am honored to have Mr. Pramas post in one of my threads!!! Friggin' cool!!!

The only follow up material that ever came out was an article I wrote for Polyhedron that detailed a new society.

You could make Dragon Fist a flagship product for your 3rd Era line.
3rd Era is just a brand for our old 3.0 and 3.5 stuff. Dragon Fist and 3E were never a good match. That's why the plan had been to make its own stand-alone variant.

This is cool. I am glad that there were no plans to make DF into a Feat-Fest if you get my meaning. 3.x was good for what it was but would have made DF unnecessarily cluttered.
And it may be something very small and I might never use it, but I'd like to get my hands on that article about the other martial art society...
Well, hopefully I can get at least a one-shot adventure of DF in at some point. Maybe the module at the end of the .pdf...!
