You'll note I did say nine times out of ten...

See and I was hoping for the D&D equivalent of Entourage's "Let's hug it out, bitch."

Psionics are too sci-fi, not like the traditional method of spell casting that has existed only in D&D, involves research, laboratory work, and formulas, and was cribbed directly from a series of science fiction novels. I mean, come on, calling forth the power to alter the world from your own center of will? That's not magical in the slightest! Not at all like my wizard's spell "Telepathy!"

Room, yes. Patience, not always.

Sometimes people just wanna roll some dice and spill some (imaginary) blood. Sometimes it doesn't even matter who that (imaginary) blood comes out of.

Violence isn't the only answer, but it's a fine fallback.

Shades of grey doesn't necessarily mean lack of objective morality. It's possible to have cosmic black and white, along with shades of grey. The whole idea of "shades of grey" is that some are darker than other, and thus, you can try to figure out the lesser of two evils, for example.

The existence of absolute good or evil does not make things easy by default. Destroying a source of absolute evil could end up creating a power vaccuum that gets filled by a worse/more powerful absolute evil ... making things worse. A small evil could cause a great good in the big picture, or a someone may set out with good intentions and end up causing a great evil.
