I have a ton of blank dice that I originally bought for use with Bones (a small-press RPG) before deciding that it was easier to use the HTML roller for that system than sloppily paste a bunch of paper cut-outs on the blank dice. So. . . I have a ton of blank dice. What can I use them for? Any ideas?
Hit zones, random critical effects, random encounter types (i.e. if you play 4e you could have them labeled solo, elite, minions, mixed etc.), fate die etc. it really depends on what systems you play.
I love to create taps/hazards that activate whever I roll a 1 on a d6. I roll a d6 for every player (within reach of said hazard/trap) each round and if I roll no 1s than noone gets hurt and if I roll a 1 for every player then everyone gets hit etc. Seems more fun than just deciding (or rolling) which player gets hit this turn. So I would maybe make a die with a skull on 5 blank face (or 5 luck symbols and a skull) and use this instead of a normal d6.

Take a black sharpie, mark two sides of each with a "+", two sides with "-" and leave two sides blank and you have official FUDGE dice. Each player uses a set of 4 such dice. Of course, you'd need to start playing fudge based games, but still...

If I didn't already have an official set of Fudge dice and just sell all of my Fudge books yesterday, this would be a great idea!

I hadn't considered using them as critical dice, as I usually use Arms Law, Arduin, or Armory tables for that. Dice might be a nice change of pace, though.

Kind of like the old WEG "ghost die" huh? That's a good idea too. I wonder how tiny I can write "borked" on one of those dice
See, this sort of thing is why I, as a GM, am constantly forced to "forget my dice", and borrow players' "Lucky Dice" for those extra-important rolls. That 235566 one would be absolutely perfect for a 4e recharge die.
