How are the special abilities? Are they interesting?

I picked up Goodman's Dungeon Denizens and found the special abilities/attacks a tad unimaginative - they felt more like 3e abilities.

Skimming through the list and mixing up the names, reading the first part of one and the last letters in the other made me ask 'they called a monster what?'.

Nothing in a scan through jumps out to me as exceptionally creative. However, it does feel 4E to me.

In some ways, Goodman seems wedded to the 3E ways with their 4E materials. For example, every adventure I have read has traps standing alone and not as part of an encounter and a lack of skill challenges. They are still good adventures, but don't feel like 4E rather 3E.

Maybe because they're not legally 4E publications because they're issued subject to the OGL rather than the GSL?

I don't think this is correct. I just looked at Dungeon Denizens on RPGNow and it lists GSL and shows the appropriate logo on the preview.

All GG DCC's are at the time of writing still published under the OGL. All the Blackdirge stuff (DD and CC's) as well as Heroes Handbook as well as Fist, Fang and Song have been released under the GSL - afaik. I have them all, but I might recall wrongly of course.

My wishlist for Scarred Lands 4e...
An updated campaign book would be nice, maybe advancing the timeline a little bit. I still love the Gelspad Campaign guide and think it would be hard to top, but even a rewrite of that with just a couple new things would still be something I'd buy.

For crunch
necromancy powers for players
True rituals
Tattoo magic
A paragon path for vigilants.
Stats for Dar'Tan and the penumbral pentagon.
Invocation feats for the clerics of Scarred Lands gods.
Rules for making charduni and SL dark elves (maybe with golem parts?)

A new adventure that would be a follow up to The Serpent Amphora Cycle. This would be doubly awesome if it gave a reveal of what the Autumn Kings ultimate goals were.
An adventure that centers around Hollowfaust would be cool!
An adventure that takes place in Blood Bayou.

A really nice big map would be something I'd get. I'd have to use my enchantment powers on the wife to let me hang it up on the wall, but I'd do it.

Yep, a while ago, in fact. And the NPC Appendix was expanded to include Barbarian, Bard, Druid and Sorcerer.

Are we looking at a Gen Con release?

That's a question better addressed to Jason. I'll ping him on this.
