I recently got the two new counter collections from Fiery Dragon (battlebox and heroic). They look great.
I'm almost dreading punching them out, though, because it will mean the eternal battle to keep them sorted. I've just used plastic baggies in the past, which works okay. But does anybody have any tips or tricks to share? I'm betting there are some better ways.
I have a similar problem with Dungeon Tiles sets. now I just have them all thrown into one big plastic box. How do you keep these things organized?
For my Counter Collection I bought one of those plastic "organizer" boxes and sorted the counters alphabetically, with the exception of Dragon/Drakes/Dragonspawn/Dragonborn (which get a single compartment). When Paragon and Epic comes out, I'll get additional boxes and probably keep Demons and Devils in their respective compartments.
I also have a small 8-compartment box that holds Undead and another that is shared by Goblinoids and Kobolds.
Fishermen and craft ladies both have the same problem and so that's where you look for the solutions made for them.
You can find excellent organizers in the tackle section of your local Target or WalMart, of various sizes and complexities. Art sections or, better, the large craft chains like Michael's, have various organizers for beads, etc.
Hardcore boardgamers/wargamers swear by PLANO boxes -- tackle boxes and craft boxes made by that company. Cheap, easy to find, customizable, durable, with lots of little compartments for all those chits.
Target, Walmart, sporting shops, dollar stores, craft stores -- you can find 'em anywhere.
I have Descent, with 3 expansions' worth of tokens, sorted and separated into two medium-sized plano tackleboxes.
Now that we play 4E instead of Descent, we use all those tokens for our 4E games, and we're never at a loss to quickly locate the appropriate token and throw it on the table.
Came here to say what Bodhiwolf already said. Plano boxes are the de facto standard for wargamers, who often have to deal with hundreds or thousands of tiny chits. If its good enough for them, it's good enough for you.
This is off topic, but I have a few questions about the Battlebox:

I saw a video review of the Battlebox. The transparent spell effects look to come on sheets, attached.
How do you separate them from the big sheet they come attached to?
Also, the Battlebox comes with a dry erase battlemat, right?
Cut them apart with a X-acto knife or a pair of scissors (and please be careful). I cut my wall transparencyes in 2-square or 3-square, since wall squares need to share a side, not a corner.
There was no way we could provide them pre-cutted in transparency.
For 3.5 I used to have an index card box with monster statblocks alphabetically. I took my counters, put them in baggies and slid them in the correct alphabetical slot. Now if only I had labeled them
