Heh, it's pretty cool, really; my next character is an Avenger of the Raven Queen who has died at least 4 times but she keeps bringing him back. Revenant might work awesome for the race.

See, I thought of making an avenger for the Raven Queen, too. I didn't think of the dead once or twice bit, though. Thanks for that!

Hmm, no thanks. I already know an undead race would come across to my DM. He'd probably buy special miniatures for the occasion.
It's hard to roleplay when every shop spits in your face Well, anything beyond "I throttle the shopkeeper"
Now, that's a little unfair. I think it depends on how decomposed you are/how unholy you appear. Even in your classical campaign, PCs return from the dead quite a lot; it's pretty easy to pass yourself off as "Yesh, the cleric got to me a bit later than I'd have preferred."
Your gold and silver don't change color, and (I'm guessing) you don't catch fire in sunlight or when entering a church, and they'll probably set the Religion checks to know what you are pretty low
Not to mention that with a little bit of cosmetics, you can pass. I imagine "Bluff" works for disguise.
Yeah, I wouldn't allow a revenant PC in my game to walk around with his bare bones showing and not get chased out of town, but if you make a token effort to disguise your undead nature, it's cool. I wouldn't even require a Bluff check most of the time.

Heck, just wear a closed helmet, or a hood with face mask. I'm sure they see adventurers doing that all the time. That and them hogging every dark corner they can find.
From the teaser picture, it looks like they appear mostly humanoid, perhaps a bit more gaunt. The exception being on the center female pic: part of her cheek appears to be missing.
What might be cool is an at will power to illusion yourself to appear as you did in life.
"Goddamn creatures of the night. They never learn. "
More like "God damn Elves/Undead/Gnomes/Tieflings/Deva's etc" The only races humans like are Dwarves and Halflings. And they don't particularly like halflings much either. And Dwarves fight too much for their taste.
Picture the stereotypical Elven attitude towards humans. But then to most other races and you'll have 60% of all the NPCs

Well VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE started the trend of playing emo undead and that was popular.
WOW has undead as a majour race, so it is not surprising that D&D would follow suit.

Anyone care to speculate on Revenant racial features?
I'm thinking it's gonna be an INT/CON race. One, aside from the not-yet PC Githyanki, it's an unfilled slot. Plus, I think it fits.
I'm also guessing it will have some built in necrotic resistance. Racial power? Probably some kind of defensive/self-heal ability.
I'd be curious to see if they are basing any of it off the old school Fiend Folio Revenant, particularly the gaze or strangle attacks.
"vengeful spirit risen to destroy killer, never uses weapons, strangles victim until killed, gaze vs killer save vs spell or paralyzed 2d4 rnds, regenerate 3 hp/rnd except fire, immune: acid & gas, permenant destruction by fire, cannot be raised, turned or effected by holy symbol/water, retains ability w/ min scores above"
