Best news: The ECS has a two sided poster map ... one side with a bigger version of the map of Eberron, the other with a generic Sharn city battlemap with towers and a map useable in the example adventure.

Worst News: WotC still thinks that players can't handle a different cosmology. Come on guys its not hard for me to convert your books, leave the planes alone!

I doubt they think players can't handle a different cosmology, but it's clear they don't want to have to write for two or more "competing" cosmologies, in the market share sense. You may be willing to do the necessary conversions, along with many others, but even if that is the case for all potential consumers of such books the issue doesn't disappear. For example, it may be the case that many can only justify purchasing one cosmology book...even though WotC resources were spent to develop at least two.

As business decisions go, understandable. As a player/DM (most often in homebrew worlds that don't rely on the "default" cosmology) I definitely wish that cosmological assumptions were kept to a minimum, and that specifics would be developed in many directions.
