It seems there are at least a few people here who almost never play rpgs, but still keep tabs on the community. I'm one of those folks, and I'm just curious about others.
(1) Why don't you game?
(2) Why do you bother keeping up with the rpg community?
(3) What, if anything, do you do when you're not involved with a game?
As for me:
(1) I move fairly often and widely, so forming stable groups is hard. Online play doesn't really appeal to me for some reason. Maybe sometime.
(2) For me, D&D has just been a hobby since I was a kid, and I enjoy keeping up with how the game's changing. That, and I'm always on the look out for a face-to-face group.
(3) When not actively playing in a group, I like putting together small-scale, low-power campaigns intended to be run in 30 sessions or so.

This is what I did when I took a long hiatus from gaming over the 1990's.
1) I don't have anybody to game with. My gaming buddies are not able to play and I don't have anybody else to game with.
2) When I'm bored I read posts on forums dedicated to things I like. ENworld is one such forum.
3) I play Munchkin or other games with some friends once in a while. we would a have been playing RPGs if not for the lack of GM and the fact that it is never the same people who show up.

1) Really difficult to find a game I want to join.
2) Something to keep me occupied.
3) Designing game worlds/(trying to) write stories.
1) I'm a bit busy from work and a bit shy to seek out a group, so I only play rarely a 1-player campaign (few times per year). Had a twice-monthly campaign with my wife and another couple for about 6 months, but that fell apart, and I haven't gotten the nerve to find players since.
2) I enjoy the community and find the discussions intellectually and creatively stimulating.
3) Reading RPG books and converting/designing monsters.

1. Well, I do - sort of. I play and run in a couple of play-by-posts over on Circvsmaximvs.com. But RL, not so much. I am *sort of* in a monthly RL game, but I tend to not care so much for the games they run, and one guy (their GM) tends to run things *his* way, and I don't care for that much. Because he kind of sucks as a GM.
2. It's been ages since I've been over here. I figured I'd drop in and see what was going on. Otherwise, I normally hang out at CM.
3. Family/job, the usual. I'm also pretty involved with music - I have a woodwind quintet that I "manage" and I transpose a lot of music for that.

1: When university finished me and my gaming buddies all moved to different parts of the country and got jobs, and meeting up once a week became impossible. Playing online seems to suck horribly, or we'd do that. I've tried to find a D&D group round my way, but they were all horrible disgusting nerds who couldn't play D&D to save their lives (no roleplaying, not knowing the rules even slightly, DMs that didn't prepare anything for the game so we'd end up with crap like spending 3 hours of a 4 hour realtime session at the library trying to find books and other rubbish like that) so I gave up.
2: Because my holidays are coming up and I'm going to use them to get some quality gaming time in with my buddies
