I don't get the pun.

A lot of these puns are too large a leap to grasp.

For the first time in 9 years of posting I actually start a multi-page thread, and it turns into a pun war! I can't tell if I'm unhappy or overjoyed!

Don't worry about it, Remus -- at least the puns are all pretty funny! I know they're keeping me tittering.

My English is not good enough to make a clever pun, so I'll make a semi-serious question.

Is this the first 4E related joke in Order of the Stick?

Nah, they had one about "Ignorance is his power source" for Elan ages ago. And there were probably others, too.

Cheers, -- N

They also revealed the 'disturbing' story behind the half-orc ninja's origin, showing the lovey-dovey human and orc parents together.

I never thought of that one as a 4e gag.

Does the 4e PHB make humans and orcs out to be frequent lovebirds? I figured the gag was a play on the typical half-orc origin of being the result of dishonorable conduct by orc raiders upon human women during orc attacks being an unpleasant backstory, so he made fun by showing it would disturbing in a completely different way if half-orcs came from loving and stable homes with two biological parents present.

There was also a sight gag once of Lord Kubota reading the newly released 4e PHB in one panel, with an open Amazon.com box at his feet.

It was a reference to why the Half-Orc wasn't in the first PHB. The Designers said that half-orcs have an implied backstory that's rather nasty.

I think the OotS humor stays firm by keeping abreast of the various editions, esp. relatively current ones, rather than just keep bouncing around old things we've seen already time and time again.

And the various editions of the game are just overflowing with ideas that the comic can nurse from at its leisure. Sometimes the jokes make the reader titter; other times they go for the jugular.

:P
