Hasbro Quarterly Report

Does anyone have access to the recently released Hasbro Quarterly Report? If so, is WOTC mentioned at all?

I can’t believe they even brought up The Rouse’s defection!
{/sarcasm}
heheh

But really, I love reading those because it really lets you know how truly unimportant D&D is to Hasbro and how little day to day (or month to month for that matter) input they have in the operations at WoTC.

Are we really surprised?

Transformers brought in $800+ million worldwide. GI Joe brought in 300+ million itself.

Yeah...if I'm an analyst I'm really going to be asking about WOTC much less D&D.

heck, i'm pretty sure Risk, Clue, Monopoly, Scrabble, Candyland, and the other board games brought in more revenue than D&D.

Especially with that aforementioned "Family Game Night" that Hasbro is advertising.

Although, while I think Monopoly and Scrabble might actually exceed D&D in revenue, I'm not so sure about Risk, Clue and Candyland. The former two especially have never been as big a seller as the big two boardgames, Monopoly and Scrabble.

Well, of the ones you mentioned Candyland and Monopoly are getting major movies (Ridley Scott is doing Monopoly) as well as Battleship, Ouija and Stretch Armstrong. I don't see quite the same push to get another D&D movie out there (or new D&D TV series).

It's good to know the Potato Head line is going strong.

If they can get George Clooney as the Scotty Dog and Angelina Jolie as the hat, I am so there.

And James Earl Jones as the Battleship.

Does Monopoly still have the battleship token?

All of this because Clue was such a box-office smash!

Ouija
will either star Keanu Reeves (who will mistakenly believe he has been cast as Othello) or Haley Joel Osment.

The Donald will try to be in Monopoly.

Candyland will be ruined by handing the project over to the Wayans Bros.

Stretch Armstrong will similarly be ruined by the casting of Hulk Hogan.

Battleship will be a Michael Bay project...and will star Steven Segal as the cook.

Sounds like some kind of bad reality show. Just need a name and it will be gold.

Huh, are you joking? I haven't heard of this, and I follow Ridley Scott's career with some interest. (I recently enjoyed on a multi-week high after he signed on to do an Alien prequel.)

That Alien prequel has been merged with the Monopoly movie.

i meant the board games all together exceed D&D in sales. some of them might individually but i wasn't going to make a case for which ones.

i just named a few of the board games off the top of my head to show that at least some of them are known commodities.

Oh no question about it.

I wonder if Parker Brothers, the Hasbro subsidary in charge of boardgames, is bigger than WOTC in terms of revenue?

re: Boardgame movies

You guys are pulling my leg right? There was a CLUE movie? And they're going to do a MONOPOLY movie?

SERIOUSLY?
