Just downloaded and checking it out. So far, I am pleased. However, now I must sleep.

Woo hoo grabbed my PDF already, and the print copy is on its way

Must be pretty popular as the site seems to be slow and/or temporarily down at times from getting hit hard for downloads.

I never understood the excitement about buying the print version of Pathfinder Beta. After all the 4e detractors whine and scream about it not being a complete edition or not being playtested enough they then go line up for an incomplete game and the chance to pay to be a playtester. Does not compute.

Somebody who has it want to give us a quick rundown (even changes from alpha 3)? Some of us can't get it till after work...

I was hoping the beta would be better than the disappointment that was the alpha version, but of course, that didn't happen. Oh well, I've got 4th edition, so I suppose there's no need for a poorly house ruled 3.5!
(I still love Paizo's adventures, though )

I would take issue with the "incomplete" description. The beta is a full system with all classes defined, races, equipment, spells, skills, feats, etc. This fact alone makes it more "complete" than the 4E PHB. I think you're describing it that way because it is a beta version of the rules. In that respect, yes, but I prefer to look at it as just not 100% polished yet. And the reality is, there will never be such a thing as a 100% polished rule set.

Let's see, 400+ full color pages for $25 and the convenience of having a print copy at the table?

And if there is something you cannot find in its pages, just open your preferred 3.5 book that covers the subject, that is the Pathfinder's edge.

Is there a "change log" that describes the changes through the various Alpha stages and into the Beta?

I bought two copies, which is the minimum I'll need to run a game. Since it is the PHB and DMG in one book, and it has more information in it than the 3.5 PHB, it's exactly what I need to play. The fact that it only costs $25 for a 400+ page book is an extra bonus. I'm more than happy to plunk down the money on it, and I'll be buying the final version a year from now, knowing that my ongoing playtest will help shape the final.

Anyway, you don't have to pay at all. You can just download the beta and print up the parts you need.

Funny, alot of 4E supporters believe the same in regards to 4E.

So have they promised to never add another new class, race, piece of equipment, spell, skill (or skill use) or feat to the ruleset? If they have, is this a feature or a bug?

On topic: I wish Paizo well in their endeavor. I hope to see them come around to 4E and produce some quality adventures in the future.

I don't remember seeing that promise made, nor hearing about it anywhere. I'm not sure where that assumption comes from, perhaps you can elaborate on where you've seen this?

I think the difference in this case is that they can choose whether they want to pay (to support the company) or just use it for free. Anyone who's paying is doing so because they not only want the product but because they actively want to support it.

To be fair, since the 4E PDFs were leaked two weeks before the release, 4E players had the same choice if they downloaded the books early.

I pre-ordered mine with the Chronicles Setting book, and can't wait to crack 'em open!

And my excitement is not in any way a condemnation of 4e or people who enjoy it, so why rain on our parade? You think 4e is the bees knees--fine.

I feel the same about Pathfinder.

And we all lived happily ever after.

Scooting over to he Pathfinder forum.

I got mine earlier this afternoon. A 405 page pdf, plus a 65 page pdf of spells and magic items they couldn't fit into the book? Gonna take a while to go through all that! Looking forward to it.
