Reaper has a slew of modern/sci-fi inspired pewter minis... Some of them would work great; they have both western and pulp adventure types that, with the right paint job, would be awesome.
I'd mix in some star wars minis, as well. There's a lot of good ones that aren't "iconic".

I got these packaged with QAGS Firefly. It is no longer available due to copyright issues, but I don't see why these wouldn't be legal. The creator's name is embedded in the file.
Heresy has some nice 'Not the Firefly Crew' miniatures. Reverend Shephard, Captain Nathan, and Haylee. :P
The miniatures actually look better than the photos....
Along the same lines - Reaper has a mini in the Chronoscope line that might work for an engineer.
What can I say - I like wenches with wrenches.

I have that last mini! Only, I gave her the gun. Also, the imperial soldiers in the firefly series wear the same armour that was used in the Starship Troopers series - Joss Whedon even admits to this in the commentary (they were cheap!). So, pick up some starship trooper minis, and you're golden.

Currently the group is in the Feywild, trying to discover who is poisoning the drow.

You'll want to find the Mobile 'Light' Infantry figs. Those are metal, not the plastic ones that come with the original boxed set. The plastic ones wear heavier armor, IIRC, or different armor than what was seen in the movies.
Thanks,
Rich

There are loads of pulp-type miniatures and future figs. Copplestone Castings is in the UK. I'm in the US and have ordered from them in the past and never had a problem with the order. Also, the shipping cost to the States is reasonable at 10% of the order.
Great sculpts. I can't say enough good stuff about Copplestone.
Thanks,
Rich

Most of my minis are currently in storage, otherwise, I'd go on a minis hunt for you.
There are a host of minis that went into production for this game or that that would work for you, but the lines are no longer in production. They may still be in stock here and there, though.
I have minis of guys who look like sterotypical Russian guards...except their weapons are high-tech. There were minis for RIFTS...and Shadowrun, as I recall. See if you can find a retailer who has obscure stuff and start digging.
If you were in the D/FW Metroplex, I'd send you to Game Chest in Dallas:

Ral Partha did the Shadowrun minis, but I think they are OOP as you wrote. That said, you can find them at many game stores still.
Thanks,
Rich
Shadowrun miniatures are still being cast. Iron Wind Metals took over most of Ral Partha's lines. Shadowrun minis can be found at this link: Iron Wind Metals Online

Cool, thanks.

Urban Mammoths Urban Wars/Metropolis line has a some that might be good.
From the Vasa line:
(She might get along with Jayne, or say something that gets them into a fight....)
But the best picks are I think in the Militia/Civilians line:
Each blister has at least one figure that would fit as a Browncoat.
I got several blisters when they were being discounted, and have wished that I picked up some more.
