    Question on character retirement: If I retire a character, do I have to officially retire the character and then submit a new one for approval? Or can I make up a new character, submit it for approval, and then later retire the original character and bring the new one in?

    Although we've not specifically addressed this question, my opinion is that you must officially retire the first character before submitting the second for approval.

    The synthesist's eidolon does not get feats. Only the synthesist gets feats. Any feat that modifies the physical body full time, applies to the synthesist only, unless they affect the body through and through. In other words, edge/skin feats are treated different the core body feats. Anything dealing with armor gets specially overridden by the eidolon's special rules about armor. So:

    Synthesist only ~ Improved Natural Armor feat ~ because of fusion FAQ rule
    Synthesist only ~ Sorc bloodline Dragon Resistance ~ natural armor ~ becuase of fusion FAQ rule
    Synthesist only ~ Vestigial Limb feat ~ edge of body, full time ~ requires the fusion to take an extra limbs evolution to accommodate it.
    Synthesist only ~ Half-orc racial trait Toothy ~ requires the eidolon to take an overlapping bite attack evolution
    Both forms ~ Great Fortitude feat ~ Core, Whole body health
    Both forms ~ Deeper Sight feat ~ if the synthesist was a half-orc or dwarf
    Both forms ~ Sorc bloodline Dragon Resistances ~ energy resistance ~ whole body
    Fusion only ~ Extra Evolution feat ~ evolutions are only applied to the fusion. The Aspect abilities have specific limits and divert points, not grant.

    Now, Spells and temporary abilities are applied after the fusion form has been summoned. So, casting Barkskin does help the fusion gain additional Natural Armor. The Linnorm Sorcerer's Bloodline Arcana of extra Natural Armor for # rounds does apply. And even though it seems wrong to me, the Draconic bloodline power of "growing claws" applies because it is a temporary ability that is applied to the "current" "whole body".

    So, yes Draconic bloodline Claws and Draconic bloodline Wings are valid because they are temporary changes to the body, reversing my previous argument.

    Feats like Combat Reflexes or Power Attack are training feats and apply to both forms. The synthesist mind is the primary controller of the fusion. But the eidolon's mind still exists, and can think and talk as well. Think Tok'ra/Go'uld from Stargate SG1.

    Since a first level synthesist has a +0 BAB, and the fusion has a +1 BAB, the character qualifies to take the Power Attack feat, requiring +1 BAB, at first level but can only use the feat while in fusion form (FAQ entry).

    Fast healing only affects real hit points, so it only affects the synthesist's pool of hit points, and never the temporary pool of the eidolon. (FAQ entry) The ability is usable when the eidolon takes the evolution, or when the synthesist takes it via aspect. Since the same bonus from two different sources do not stack, it is pointless to take on both as they would not stack.

    Level up bonuses: The synthesist level 4/8/12/16/20 bonuses apply to the synthesist's body. In fused form, the benefit of the physical stats becomes moot, so it is wisest to only spend them on mental stats or Con. The eidolon gets boosts at 5/10/15 and it is wisest to only apply them to physical stats.
    Tomes are applied to the synthesist. Belts are applied to the whole body so that covers both forms. Wishes you will never see.

    Keep in mind play by post moves at a sleepy snail's pace. It can take three days to get a door to a room open. It takes a year or more to get to fifth level. By then, a new book with new options is out. Your planning for what you will be at 20th level seems pointless, as you should be planning what looks good and survivable at 2nd and 3rd levels. It makes a difference in planning when you realize that your first taste of the Heritage feats won't come until March of next year.

    so it's no all that great to pick the armor from dragon, ho well, and its basically, in general , Supernatural affects work on both while Extraordinary ones just work on the summoner.

    This said I think the feats not being given to the eidolon is regrettable; it means if a character with a fussed-eidolon uses twin-eidolon the eidolon has no feats: seems like an oversight :/

    And I'm not committing everything I get now to the end game; I'm just keeping it in mind because I want his end game to fit in with his theme :P
    That said, still don't know if I want to go summoner or sorcerer with him; I can get both to work :/

    Also, is the orc bloodline allowed? I thought it was outside of LPF's rule books.

    Orc bloodline: no. It is in the Orcs of Golorian book. Not on the approved list.

    I seem to recall we voted to allow the purchase of MW items (particularly weapons and armor) without having to make the 75% roll in the Mystic Pearl but I can't seem to find that discussion/vote. It's still listed in the Mystic Pearl thread that a roll is required. Am I misremembering?

    I recall such a discussion, but I think it was decided that the roll was still needed. But it has been awhile so I am not 100% on that.

    The only one where you did not have to roll to find magical/masterwork items was if you had the Rich Parents trait.

    I remember the discussion clearly - it was decided that you do NOT have to roll to purchase any item on the "mundane items" lists in the rulebooks.

    We had five yes votes in the Proposal: Sapo's Codices thread for MW item including weapons and armor to always be available. So, the first page of the Mystic Peal thread should be updated.

    hmm, got two questions 1: When a Synthesist uses Twin Eidolon, what happens? A Fussed-Eidolon has no feats, dos this make the Fussed-Eidolonin into what amounts to a normal Eidolon without feats? dos the Fussed-Eidolon get the feats that applies to it while its being summoned/fussed normaly or dos it gain all the feats of its Synthesist that a normal Eidolon is eligible for?

    2: dos a Synthesist, when fussed with its Fussed-Eidolon, use its augmented saves, the Fussed-Eidolon's saves, the best of both, or the Reflex and Fortitud saves of the Fussed-Eidolon and the Will save of the Synthesist?

    1) We will find an answer to that question when it becomes relevant for your character. That will be in about 8 years. It gives me time to pester the developers and see what their opinion is. Be sure to bookmark this thread. (The serious answer is it is currently undefined. And you are not going to get a game at 20th level where everyone can simply take their time crafting their wish spells to rewrite the universe at a whim.)

    2) You use the save progression of the synthesist and the stats of the fusion. So at first level, it is
    Fort = Synthesist(0) + Con(1) = 1
    Reflex = Synthesist(0) + Dex(1) = 1
    Will = Synthesist(2) + Wis(n) = 2+n

    at 5th level, it would be
    Fort = Synthesist(1) + Con(1) = 2
    Reflex = Synthesist(1) + Dex(2) = 3
    Will = Synthesist(4) + Wis(n) = 4+n

    Not sure if I should put this here or the upcoming adventures thread, but Howling Night may need some help. HolyMan's status is still up in the air, I think, but if he's gone, that leaves only two of us, and IVV appears to be having some trouble getting on, as well. We just started combat, but I'm wondering / hoping we might be able to short things and finally wrap this one up; it's been a bit of a stall-and-start from the get-go, and since there are actually folks Nathan's level around now that he might jump into a new adventure with soon, was sort of hoping he and Stahn might get an extraction?

    On the other hand, it's been nearly three weeks since the last post in both 'Howling Night' and 'St. Ulthar's Medallion'. Too long to leave characters who want to play sitting inactive. Many DMs here, myself included, will remove a character if they are absent without warning for a week or more.

    In Howling Night's case it looks like it had a shaky start with the original GM disappearing and then InVinoVeritas taking over to try to keep the game alive as GM. HolyMan was a player in that one. The game hasn't had a GM post since 9/4.

    InVinoVeritas hasn't been on since 9/9. HolyMan's status is unknown.

    I tend to agree with GlassEye. If those players have characters trapped in there and a few adventures are popping up in the Inn I think it might be best to get those two an evac.
