Proposal: Bladebound Magus

I was hoping to get the Bladebound archetype approved for use alongside of the Magus class. The description for the Bladebound Archetype can be found here. I linked to the d20pfsrd as that shows only the bladebound information in the link. However this link is from the official pathfinder srd: Magus Archetypes. just in case you all want to see the official pathfinder srd's description of the archetype.

The Archetype for the most part doesn't grant any real benefits until the character reaches third level and with the retraining features of the Living Pathfinder Campaign I could see it being used with Magi that already exist quite easily in the campaign.

I will note that I wasn't sure if this proposal was actually allowed to be made or not, so if I wasn't supposed to be making proposals at this time, just ignore this post. If the proposal is on the other hand allowed to be made, please do look it over.

I am disappointed. Truly disappointed. An ego contest is a measly little will save now! Back in the day when bards were bards and not pansy little spell singers, the ego of a weapon could truly marionette a person. Now a weapon has to beg and whimper and catch its chauffeur on a bad day to get it's goals fulfilled.

But then again, some day you will roll that one!

Since one of my characters is basically wearing intelligent armor, I cannot fault someone for wanting and intelligent sword. The abilities of the blackblade look weak. (So I must be missing something.) I was wondering if it would be a good "never sleeping sentry", but with a Wis of 6 to start, no class skills, and cannot spend skill points in anything other than Knowledge Arcana, the "sentry" will notice very little.

Overall, it looks to drain away more from the magus that it gives. The intelligent sword part can speak extra languages and give one extra (minimal) perception roll. It drops the arcana pool from 1/2 level to 1/3 level. And one day it may figuratively backstab you in an ego fight if you don't give into its plans every time. While the above 15th level abilities look interesting, it would take years to get there in pbp.

I vote YES, as I see it as a minor drain with great fluff opportunities.

Most optimization specialists consider any Magus Archetype a fail, because it isn't bladebound... so it cannot be that bad (SK forgot the free enhancement in his summary). That said, sure why not, most of UM will be allowed soon, anyway.

    YES

YES to early approval of the Bladebound Archetype (as WalkingDad says, it'll be included in the 6 month approval of UM anyway).

I also vote YES. It is coming up soon with the UM material inclusion and I see no harm in letting this come a bit early.

Four yes votes makes it APPROVED. The Bladebound Magus has been added to the wiki for the UM page.
