[True20] Living Filmstrip

Living Filmstrip (Recorded Live, 1975)

A living filmstrip is a tangled mass of video tape animated through unknown means. Unlike most constructs, living filmstrip are intelligent, able to think and reason on par with an adult human. Living filmstrip are carnivorous, rapidly consuming all living organic material they engulf, leaving behind only indigestible remains such as scraps of clothing.

Role: Large 5th level Construct
Speed: 30 ft.
Abilities: Str +2, Dex +0, Con —, Int +1, Wis +1, Cha +0
Skills: Notice 8 (+9), Search 8 (+9), Stealth 8 (+4)
Bonus Feats: Improved Grab, Lightning Reflexes, Tough 2
Feats: Ability Focus (Engulf), Attack Focus (Grapple)
Traits: Blindsight 60 ft., Construct Traits, Elongation, Engulf, Immune to Bludgeoning and Piercing Damage, Vulnerabilities (Fire, Magnetism)
Combat: Attack +2 (+2 base, +0 Dex) (+9 grapple), Damage 1 Con damage, Defense Dodge/Parry +2/— (+2 base), Initiative +0
Saving Throws: Toughness +5 (+2 size, +1 construct, +2 Tough), Fortitude +1 (+1 base), Reflex +3 (+1 base, +2 Lightning Reflexes), Will +2 (+1 base, +2 Will)

Engulf: Medium or smaller creatures; Reflex Difficulty 17; engulfed victims take 1 point of Constitution damage per round. An engulfed victim reduced to less than −5 Constitution is completely consumed. The save Difficulty is Strength-based and includes a +2 bonus from the Ability Focus feat.
Elongation: A living filmstrip can send out runners of individual film to explore its environment. It can generate a number of these runners equal to its level. It can see and hear through each one as if it were present. The runners can extend up to 30 feet from the body, and can manipulate objects no larger than 1 pound in weight.
Vulnerabilities: Living filmstrips are vulnerable to fire, taking half again as much damage from fire attacks (+50%). A living filmstrip that comes into contact with a magnetic field must succeed on a Fortitude save or take damage as if affected by the Harm power. The Difficulty of the Fortitude save depends on the strength of the magnetic field, as determined by the Narrator. Typical household magnets force a Difficulty 10 save, while the electromagnetic pulse of the magnetism effect of the Energy Shaping power uses the power save Difficulty of the adept

Creation Notes
If you had HBO in the early 80’s you’ll remember this one! It’s the mass of living, man-eating film from Recorded Live, by S. S. Wilson.
