Kaiju #9: Titanosaurus

You know, I'm not getting much in the way of response on most of these kaiju. Oh well. I'm doing them whether people respond or not. He's a bit of an obscure kaiju, but I've got a soft spot for him.

Oh, although questions, comments, etc. are appreciated, I already know that Titanosaurus was an actual dinosaur. And one that has nothing to do with the kaiju of the same name*. On with the show!

Titanosaurus is another dinosaurian kaiju whose weak will is often exploited by evil powers.

Titanosaurus resembles a bipedal dinosaur about 200 feet tall. His hide is warty and speckled green, brown, red, yellow and black. His long head sports two tall antennae and a fish-like fin, and is attached by a graceful neck to a finned body. He is an excellent swimmer, thanks to his forked, webbed tail, and is more at home in the ocean than on land.

Titanosaurus is by its nature peaceful and retreating, avoiding contact with humans and feeding on whales, giant squid and schools of fish, which it traps using whirlpools. However, unlike most kaiju, Titanosaurus is vulnerable to mind-influencing effects, and has more than once been used as a weapon of mass destruction.

Combat
Unless hungry or dominated, Titanosaurus avoids fighting, but is a capable opponent. Its massive tail can create whirlwinds and whirlpools, which he uses to trap or distract opponents while it attacks them.

Blind-sight (Ex): Titanosaurus uses echolocation to determine the location of prey and hazards underwater. It does not need to make Spot or Listen checks within the range of its blindsight.

Trample (Ex): On land, Titanosaurus can simply run over any creature of Gargantuan or smaller size. Merely by moving over the opponent(s), Titanosaurus deals to them 4d12+28 points of damage. Trampled opponents can make Reflex saves for half damage (DC 59), or make an attack of opportunity against Titanosaurus.

Vortex (Ex): Titanosaurus can, as a full-round action, create a powerful whirlpool when in a body of water. The vortex is 5 feet wide at the base, 30 feet wide at the top and up to 100 feet tall. Creatures of up to Gargantuan size must make a Reflex save (DC 59) or take 3d6 points of bludgeoning damage. It also must succeed a second save or be trapped in the vortex, automatically taking damage every round. A creature that can swim can make Reflex saves each round to escape; on a successful save, the creature takes damage but is expelled from the whirlpool. The whirlpool lasts for 20 rounds before dissipating.

Whirlwind (Ex): On land, Titanosaurus can use its tail to create a powerful tornado (see page 87 of the DMG) that lasts for 10 rounds. After using this ability, Titanosaurus is fatigued for 1 hour and cannot use the whirlwind again until it recovers.

Skills and Feats: Due to its cryptic mottled coloration, Titanosaurus gains a +10 bonus to all Hide checks made underwater. Titanosaurus can use the Improved Whirlwind Attack to attack all creatures within 25 feet with its tail only. A creature that has been snatched by Titanosaurus can be flung up to 200 feet, taking 20d6 points of falling damage.

Demiurge out.
* For those of you playing along at home, the stat block upon which Titanosaurus is loosely based was the Spinosaur from MMII.

He was in Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975), a direct sequel to Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. The original was dark and downbeat, but it was heavily butchered in the transition to the States to be more "child-friendly".

Titanosaurus as a cameo: possible.
You riding Titanosaurus in a cameo: unlikely.
Watching you try to ride Titanosaurus, only to be gruesomely devoured: priceless.

There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's the question: why do you keep making bizarre and increasingly inane requests?

Very nice, I know a non-epic wizard that would like to control this kaiju to cause some havoc on a particular costal city...

I know it was in a Dragon magazine somewhere, but is there any way we could see the kaiju template here?

Well, although actually reposting the template would be a no-no, the gist of it is that you give a creature 40 more hit dice, make them colossal, and then give them a bunch of special abilities like breath weapons, trampling, etc.
Add on damage reduction, SR and massive Str and Con bonuses, and that's basically a kaiju.
