Sometimes you need to produce spontaneous scientific jargon in your game. Your PCs need to oscillate the anterior nadion actuator or invert the ambient access manifold. Maybe it's important that somebody harmonise the magnetic flux stabiliser. Technobabble, a feature of Star Trek and Doctor Who, can inject some atmosphere into your game. The following table uses a d66 (roll d6 twice, the first being 'tens' and the second being 'ones') to randomly generate one of 46,656 different combinations.  ...READ MORE

One of the parts of game design which is really fun to do is creating monsters and creatures. Some are inspired by existing myth and legend; others are brand new. Some are basic critters which must be included; others are a bit more offbeat and unique. Below is a selection of monster art from both OLD and NEW. Below you'll see giant eagles, terror dogs, blaster drones, exterminators, holograms, sirens, sphinxes, and more!  ...READ MORE

I just wanted to share a general exasperated grumble at the arduous nature of the research I'm currently doing. I've been locating stats and specs on a range of iconic vehicles over the last 60 years or so. I'm only halfway through - lots of vehicle types to do yet. Some info is easy to find, but for older vehicles I sometimes spend ages trying to track down the 0-60 of a 1952 motorbike or the weight of a 1970s tractor trailer. Most of the info will just be fluff text anyway -- I'm distilling the figures down into a few simple stats. Finding the original price of older vehicles? Nigh impossible! It's easy to find the cost of new vehicles. It's also easy to find the cost of used vehicles. But the cost of a specific new vehicle in 1979? That's a frustrating task!
