If da sage don't know, why would da lie-berry? Af'ta all, his brains is books. I won't stop ya from talkin' wit da shadows, but if we know where to go we mite as well get gettin'. But I new herr, s'all lead. I just hate to see a trail git cold.
"Rosvodiz spoke of a dwarven glass blowing foundry next to an old distillery. Thats over on the other side of the guild quarter. The glass place can get pretty hot with their kilns from what I hear. If you want to stop by the library, the one just down the block will grant you access with a word from me. We still have access to Rosvodiz' body for a little while longer and I found that Speak with Dead scroll I had tucked away. I'm sure you all have other resources in Daunton for research as well. " offers the elderly sage to help outline some of the possible avenues open to the adventurers.
"Very w-w-well. I'll w-wait outside until you are d-done. I need s-some fresh a-air." The shifter walks outside the home and inhales some fresh air. He stands in the shadows off to the side of the building.
"Here is the scroll then." he says reaching beneath the small table beside his chair. "If you don't mind, I'd like to come with you. I had come so close to answers from Rosvodiz that I don't want to miss out on this chance. I'll have a carriage come by to pick us up if you are amenable to that? It would be best to prepare your questions ahead of time."
Anything is better then standing here wasting time. Now what should we ask of the dead? We wont get many questions, Lauto doesn't like to let go of what he's already claimed.
I would think you'd be well accustomed to corpses since you smell like one! Now as I said this ritual will only allow a limited amount of questions, and the answers may be misleading. Should we question the corpse directly about the idol or attempt a roundabout method? Perhaps a good start would be asking who killed him? Or if he knows where they took the idol? Or even why they would want it.
"Excellent." replies the sage as he heads off busily preparing himself for the journey across town. Within 15 minutes or so a carriage arrives to take the group across town. Its an open carriage thats quite large to accommodate the group of 6. Climbing aboard the group has time to prepare 1-3 questions to ask of the dead. Astrepius needs a little help, but it doesn't take too long to get him in. He sits quietly still perusing the journal of Rosvoditz as the carriage sets out across town. He doesnt seem to notice Dane's offending fumes in his reading.
The shifter sits near the entrance to the carriage. Through the pulled blinds he peers outside, scanning the street for threats. If the halflings that got away warned their masters, assassins could be on the way. "I think w-who killed him would be s-s-start."
While it seems quite obvious the gang members killed him it is best to be certain. Using what we glean from that the next question should be whether he knows where they would take it.
And have you never had a proper education?
Turning towards the Shifter Vashiks expression turns hard, clearly showing contempt and annoyance.
Perhaps a mentally deranged goblin taught you to speak? I should hope you'll consult a member of the arcane order with your share of the funds to repair whatever deficiency it is you have.
As the wizard tears into the shifter, the wood under Incarnation's palms begins to smoke. That is enough, wizard. The warforged does not bother turning his head.
Considering the matter finished, Incarnation continues. We have likely one question, two at most. Either the who of the death or specifics of the idol. Ideally, the meaning of 'Maybe I’ll feed it tomorrow' listed in his text. We likely know of the where: Either under the dwarven foundry mentioned in the diary, with the gangs by the docks, or the cave near the shifter's location mentioned by the thug. Again, without turning, he changes tone. Addressing the sage, Astrepius. Did you ever translate the runes on the object?

Vashik stares wordlessly at the Warforged, before acknowledging his statement with a curt nod and turning his eye toward the window, his hands slowly clenching and unclenching.
"My m-m-mother t-t-taught me everything I know. I owe her no favors for m-my life n-now. For that y-you are l-lucky." The shifter pulls his magic scimitar half way from it's sheathe. Lightning dances from the partially exposed blade up Rurdev's hairy arm, making the hair stand up.
"We should try to live and work together. Or we are destinied to perish together. And we should also familiarize us with our abilities, if we want to work as a unit.
What can you do?" Riardon asks the others, speaking the last words at the wizards direction..

"Yes, not knowing if you are specializing on fire spells in a territory possible high with explosive gasses would be just to much information. What was this battlefield? The academy schoolyard?" Riardon answers angrily, looking at the others for more helpful informations.
