Hmmm runes... See anything you recognize tinman? Demonology and otherworlds are not my area of expertise.
Vashik grudgingly lends Incarnation his assistance in deciphering the runes, never quite admitting that hes helping.

I been thinking about training Thievery hahaha, but I dont know how I feel about it jiving with Vashik's character. He's more interested in regaining his former glory and power.
"Do it. But let someone look at the aura. I might be magically trapped." Riardon says, still looking at the Rift, strongly hoping that nothing will emerge.

Hi I'm a comic and rpg nerd. Don't hurt me, please.
Dane gets in position to break of the lock, if there is an external one. If not he'll try to control his swing whn attempting to break open the chest. He'll wait for one of the magic users to give him the thumbs up before proceding.
Symbols: With the pointed observations of Vashik, Incarnation is able to puzzle out that the symbols represent the colours that they are inked in.
yellow symbol = Amber
bright red = Carmine
brownish = Burnt Umber
orange = Ocher
greyish = Slate
Chest: After checking the symbols, Vashik looks over and says, "Nah no aura." And with that Dane smashes it open spilling a number of coins over the goo-slick floor. Picking it up and counting, Dane and Rurdev note that there is quite a huge sum here.
Total:
3 gems (worth 100gp ea)
2 small vials
100 gp
200 sp
Excellent something to make this worthwhile. Although it'll cost half my share to remove this stench! Any of you rolling in the muck make something of these symbols?
Rurdev nods appreciatively at the gold and gems. "V-Very good."
The shifter bites his lip and looks over the runes. "They are b-b-b-bowls right, what are they s-s-s-supposed to h-hold then?" The ranger rubs his hands on a cut he received in battle, a few drops of blood drip into the carmine bowl.
Rurdev's blood quickly beads together into a little ball of red viscous blood and begins rolling from the bowl up one of the channels to the key hole. It drops down into the key hole. With baited breath you watch to make sure that you haven't caused an apocalypse or anything but seconds tick by with no appreciable change.
Perception - Trying to see if anything that changed?
Arcana - Did the blood do anything? What can I notice thats different? (nothing with an 11 :S Natural one)
Incarnation watches as the blood flows down and feels for changes in the magic. If blood is the correct humor, then we must figure the others. If only to know what not to do. Friend shifter, what other natural fluids match these colors? Your fleshy anatomy is unknown to me.
OOC: Arcana to detect changes in altar/portal magic: 15 Nature to think of fluids: 2

Har Har Har. Didn't do nothin'. Dem colors are like differn't stones n' dirt. maybe ya need dem to put in da bowls. Otherwise we gotta find orange blood. But me think we need somethin' for the middle anyways. Dis not important now, we need idol. Let us go.
If no one else speaks, Incarnation nods his head at the dwarf's words. The idol may be the key to this, figuratively and literally. It may not be possible to close this until we have that idol. I do not look forward to fighting that which returns here when we do, but I see little recourse if no one else has thoughts.

Ruminating on the rift, the symbols, and the treasure most of the heroes are completely oblivious but Rurdev's ears perk up when he hears a loose stone skitter across the ground. The sound originated up on the ledge leading out of the room.
"N-N-Nothing. Perhaps the idol is the k-k-key. T-T-Turns out I w-w-wasn't f-feeding some m-m-monster." The shifter grins at Riardon, his fangs wet. He licks his lips as he turns his gaze up to the sound of the pebbles. The shifter quickly bounds across the room, seeking to see if he can catch a glimpse of whatever was watching them.
Dane picks up the treasure found to be distruptuted later. After it is all collected, he awaits his companions before leading the group back to the sewers.
