Riardon manages to catch up with Rurdev and leaps through the air to grab the rope, scaling it quickly. He is only maybe 10 feet behind the kid now and can smell that distinctly awful smell from the first time they met.
Vashik in the chase notices that the kid is heading towards the way that the party entered, though that also the direction of the only unexplored part of the sewer system too. When he spot's the kid's odd spike grin he wonders if the other three had seen that when they first met the kid.
Rurdev grabs the swinging rope and is up just as fast as his companion. At the top of the rope he manages to get a few feet ahead of Riardon.
Incarnation pushing hard manages to decrease the distance behind he was reaching the bottom of the rope. The 'forge's heavy boots leaving a smoking trail.
Dane, despite his dwarven stride is only paces behind Incarnation at the base of the rope as his shorter legs work hard to keep up.
Now leading the pack, Rurdev heads into a full sprint, and as the kid rounds a corner, Rurdev leaps at the kid, attempting to tackle him to the ground.
Vashik wracks his brain trying to figure out just what this child/monster could be and maybe help divine where it would be heading based on that knowledge.
A smoky haze surrounding him, Incarnation attempts to figure if his hazy recollections of Daunton might give him some insight on where the boy was going. His historical memories were like ghosts, but sometimes they turned up something...
The chase continues as Riardon follows the fast paced kid. The kid continues towards the exit that the group entered from.
From his history texts, Vashik remembers talk of a shapeshifter that could assume any form. In particular he remembers a tale of a group of these shapeshifters, doppelgangers if you will, that liked to distort their natural features amplifying their terrifying abilities. The group was called the Anathema and liked the prey one people's nightmares while enganging in criminal acts of robbery.
Anathema was caught and routed out several years ago but one member, Jaques had escaped the clutches of adventurers and authorities. Jacques was said to enjoy shifting into the forms of children and warping his features. He went to ground several years ago and hasn't been seen since.
Rurdev keeping pace with Riardon makes a lunge for the kid and just narrowly misses him as he exits into the sub basement across from the glass blowers.
Incarnation notes that the kid is escaping back the way that they came in under the old warehouse behind the glass blower's. [ooc: this was more useful if failures had happened, but with otherwise I only had one item to give you guys.]
Dane huffs and puffs to catch up, just making it.
Status - 7 pass/0 fail = resounding success
[End]
The kid burst out of the basement with Rurdev's hand tripping him and sending him spralling into the alleyway. As Riardon moves to grab the punk he notices several leering faces in the alley above and to each side. Rat-like faces.
ooc: wow well done. Now for the finale combat. I'll put together a map this weekend and be back hopefully on Monday. Its a bit of a rough weekend this weekend, working Sat. and Sun, blech.
ooc: Hope you need longer. Will not be able to post from Monday to Wednesday . Actions: Holding back, throwing javelins and use healing on the front line.

Hi I'm a comic and rpg nerd. Don't hurt me, please.
Init:
Vashik
Riardon
Rurdev
Dane
Monsters
Incarnation
Map:
Building to the North = Glassworks (40' high)
Building to the South = empty warehouse (30' high)
Building to the West = small shed (15' high)
Trees = difficult terrain
Rubble = difficult terrain
Description:
Kid = right in front of Rurdev and prone. Image makes him look a little too goblinoid. He is definitely a stinky little human kid with really big needle-like teeth.
Wererats = medium and currently on top of roofs. The one on the small shed has cover, the one up high has superior cover.
Positioning:
Rurdev and Riardon are just outside the basement.
Dane, Incarnation, and Vashik are still in the basement. It is an additional 1sq movement to exit in the square that Riardon is in.
Incarnation HP 32/32[16], HS 10/11[8] SW; D(14|15,13,13); AP 21;
Riardon HP 13/24[12], HS 6/8[6] SW; D(17|15,14,13); AP 2;
Rurdev HP 23/31[15], HS 6/8[7] SW; D(15|15,13,13); AP 3;
Vashik HP 20/20[10], HS 6/6[5] SW; D(15|11,16,15); AP 2;
Dane HP 27/31[15], HS 1/12[7] SW; D(19|16,12,12); AP 1;
Note: please update my stat line above. You've had time for a short rest, but not an extended one.
Pushing his way past Rurdev, Vashik skirts the edge of the south building, moving north past the prone doppelganger to stand directly below and west of the northern wererat. Staying close to the building Vashik hopes to provide himself some cover from at least one of them while he works his magic.
Do not be fooled! That is no child!! He is a shapeshifter and a criminal!
As his commanding voice rings across the battlefield Vashik pulls his wand from it's holster at his hip, and begins to incant one then another spell in quick succession, hoping to finish the shape shifter before it has a chance to react.
