Bad news in my world. I've been served court papers by my sons mother and am going to be investing a lot of time in that the next few months. I feel super bad for leaving so many people hanging but I cant afford not to.
I hope you all understand me and will have room in the community for me when I come back. NPC my characters out as needed and feel free to email me for any info I have reference my two running adventures.
Good thing he has low-light vision so it looks like it would in bright light. =v)
Dane takes the Idol and sees if it fits in the keyhole. If it does, he splashes some of the reddish brown slime onto the two wavy lines. If nothing happens, then he cuts himself and drops blood onto the red cross.
If still nothing happens, Dane will look up to the Sage and say, Got any ideas?
Vashik provides what ever light is necessary to aid in the investigation.
The Idol/Key appears to be resonating with the altar and the rift. The audible hum is increasing in proportion to the distance the idol is from the rift. The resonance, while certainly out of Incarnation's field of study, also seems to be timed in rhythm to the pulsing of the rift. In the light of Vashik's spell, Incarnation can see that the strange greenish metal is actually changing color to a more rudy brownish green.
Dane carries the idol closer and the sound rises to a crescendo as the pulsing increases in frequency. He is able to slide it into the hole and it fits with a solid thunk pointed towards b. He slides it towards the wavy lines and it rotates in the hole easily almost like it is frictionless.
The pulsing is now so rapid that the rift appears to be blinking, and the hum a low pitched whistle.
The slime does not appear to have any effect layering the altar with goo. But Dane's blood pools in the small bowl near the brown wavy lines. It beads into a small ball and begins rolling up towards the key.
As the bead of blood reaches the key it flashes with a bright yellow light and the whistle grows in pitch and volume. The light consumes the darkness of the rift.
Then all of a sudden the light is gone and only Vashik's spell illuminates the area, paling in comparison. The rift is gone as is the idol and the metal piece of the altar that formed the bowls and the symbols. All that is left is a solid stone cask with a great rent in the top of it.
ooc: yay someone solved the puzzle! Thanks Nebten.
Incarnation nods seeing what has happened, then investigates the remains of the portal some to determine if all has rightly finished. Afterwards he is done, he says simply, It is done. For now.

Rurdev claps the dwarf on the back. He too inspects the area looking for signs of further aberrant influence. Once done he is satisfied, he mutters, "That w-w-was easy. Let's g-g-go."
Checking the altar once more before heading out, Rurdev and Incarnation both spot something glinting within the rent stone. Its as if there were something metallic inside it...
Incarnation manages to retrieve a significant number of coins. It seems the inside of the stone altar was filled with them. Once they are all pulled out the crew heads back up to the surface and back to the sage's place. Knocking on the door you are greeted by the elderly gentleman who wheezes a heavy phlegmy cough as he invites you inside. He appears to be back to normal or a little slower than in the past and he looks tired.
"Please... come in. Can I get... you a drink?" he says.

Okay now to figure out how to reward you the rest of the treasure you're owed. I gotta say treasure is still an awkward calculation in 4e and L4W in particular. For now its lots of gold, but is that 500 or 5000?
