ooc: now that I read back over my description I can't even remember where I put the window. I'm going to go with SG's description of the placement (seen through the slightly open door it is on the far side of the hovel letting in a little bit of filtered light.) because it matches more the purpose I have in mind for it.
Peering inside the hovel through the slightly ajar door, Rurdev is able to spot movement inside. Something appears to be trying to hide in the darkness. It looks vaguely humanoid, but from this vantage point it is impossible for the shifter to tell.
Rurdev points inside the house, and puts a finger to his lips. He pulls his pair of scimitars from their sheathes. Opening the door fully, the shifter walks into the room, stopping where the creature attempted to hide. He stands still, blades held at the ready, waiting to see the creature's reaction.

Rurdev moves quickly into the room directly towards the creature attempting to hide. The creature backs away towards the distant source of light coming from the window further in, it hisses at him as it tries to move away. With the door open and Rurdev closer it looks like a young human male in his teenage years with ratty clothing and a heavy stench about him.

It rolled an Init 20 allowing Rurdev to get the drop on it. It is not wielding a weapon that he can see and is backing away.
The gnome steps in from the shadows, casting Light over the humanoid creature. "Flinging flet, the light is set" he chants, almost cheerfully. As Incarnation's light disappear, another one sprouts out of nothingness, over the boy's head.
"Not sticking around." the youth says in a squeeky voice as he leaps through the window. The loose shutters rattle as he bangs them open on his way out. The youth trips a bit on the other side but recovers quickly and takes off down the side alley behind the hovel.
The warforged raised his hand, fire licking at the three, thick digits. It paused, then lowered them. Not worth the effort. Putting the issue out of his mind, he turns to the others. We are hear to search. Let us finish this and be done.
While the 'forged kept an eye on anything found, he did not assist the search. Instead, he kept a watch on the alley and through the window.

The shifter walks back outside the place. He calls down the alley to the beggars, "Who was that one that was inside here? Who else has been here recently?" Rurdev pulls a few coins out of his belt pouch, and drops them upon the cold ground.
I've been trying to figure out how best to reward you guys for those stellar knowledge checks earlier, beyond just the information gleaned. After considering all the rolls made and the difficulty checks assigned as well as the limited penalty for failure, I've assigned it a valid skill challenge level and complexity.
Everyone receives 105XP.
[And now back to your regularly scheduled programming]
As Riardon and Incarnation set about the task of searching the hovel, Rurdev heads outside to question the other disillusioned folk living in the area. Rurdev meets resistance and everyone he can spot is reluctant to even talk to the shifter [diplomacy check please].
For those who join Riardon and Incarnation inside, they find that the hovel is quite small. The room is an odd angle hanging off the back of a warehouse. It seems to go down beneath a corner of the warehouse as if it was built originally under a set of stairs then added onto. The youth had been trying to hide in the lower part of the room when Rurdev spotted him and has since taken off out the window which is now fully open. [perception checks please].
ooc: aid another is appropriate if anyone wants to help Rurdev or Riardon. Or other ideas too.
Rurdev meets significant reticence amongst the locals. They do not appear to like the light or commotion in their neighbourhood and do not answer the shifter's questions even when directly asked.
Riardon has a bit better time in his search of the small hovel. It has been turned inside out recently. The upper floor had a small pantry and table and chair. The table and chair have been smashed and the pantry emptied. The lower part of the floor had a small cot which has been flipped up against the wall. There are blood stains on the ledge between the two floor levels. It appears that Rosvodiz was killed there given the amount of blood.
After finding out the bums were not very forthcoming with information, the shifter wanders around to where the boy would have jumped out of the window, looking around to make sure he didn't leave anything. The shifter is distracted, thoughts running through his head.
