Ring of the Fey Lord (DM:Atanatotatos, Judge:Lord Sessadore)Up:Lorik, etc.
My name is Gord, please follow me home and I will explain everything to you. sayes hurriedly in an extremely anxious tone the man as he heads North through the crowded streets of Daunton.
Streetwise 15
Gord is the name of a pretty famous weaponsmith of Daunton, and the man's appearance suggest that he might be, in fact, a smith
ooc-Edited
you'll walk through the whole Daunton while Gord shows the way to his house. So if you want to introduce yourselves and do some rp this is a good moment.
I won't ask things like "please post at least five times a day" or such 'cause I know it's not likely to happen. However, I'd like to keep the pace as fast as I can. If you know you won't be able to post for a couple of days or more, please drop a notice in the thread so I know, especially if you're in combat, so I can npc you and keep going.
I there's something you don't like about the adventure or my DMing, please say so. I can't assure you everything will go accordingly to your wishes, but I'll do my best to make the game suit your tastes.
If you write down a wishlist of magic items, according to the DMG guidelines, I'll take it into account when rewarding you characters. If you don't, I'll try to surprise you. You've got time to think about it anyway.
I would also be grateful if you could prepare a little sblock like the one below with your character's main stats to put in your combat posts to speed things up:
mini-stats
name- race class level
Initiative Passive perception Passive Insight
AC For Ref Will
HP Bloodied Surges value Surges/day
Speed Languages
AP Second Wind
Basic Attack/Opportunity attack
Powers: at will encounter daily
Just an example.
For any doubt or anything really, ask. Let's enjoy this.

Ikni gawks like a tourist as the man leads hurriedly through the streets of Daunton. She often has to hurry to catch up, after discovering that she has been staring at something new and unfamiliar, particularly when the docks come into view.
Lorik leaves the bar with the crowd, deciding to make casual conversation while they travel.
"So," he asks, "I'd like to know a bit more about who I'm going to be working with. The name is Lorik, and I like to think that I'm fairly well-versed in the time-honored tradition of jamming sharp things into other softer, fleshier things."

"My name is Haruka Sato, and I hail from the Kingdom of Jade. As for my skills, I have been… granted no small measure of eldritch power. Indeed, I am quite capable of burning those who stand against us to smoldering ash.”
While speaking this last sentence, Haruka’s typically reserved composure slips a little, revealing something of the manic persona beneath. She quickly catches herself.
"If such measures are required, of course.”
Eager to divert attention from herself, she turns to Ikni.
"Not to be presumptuous, but am I wrong in believing this is your first time in a city?”

"Not to be presumptuous, but am I wrong in believing this is your first time in a city?”
Ikni, distracted by a fruitseller's stall, starts at the question. "Oh, no! I mean, yes. That is to say, you are wrong; I have been in cities many times before, but never on the surface. With the... sky? And the water. I have never seen so much water. Is it all fit to drink?"
Derien turns to Lorik, smiling. "I know something of that art myself," he replies, touching the longbow slung over his shoulder, "but I prefer to call on my god, where I can."
Hearing Ikni's conversation, he can't help but interject: "The water surrounding these islands, that the ships travel on, contains too much salt to be drunk safely." Eying her unusual physiology, he adds "At least, for most. For you it might be safe, at that.".

They're dead all dead now, and I was," he pauses with a haunted look as he considers his next words, "invited to never come back. Of course, that could also be because I lost my CO's prized charger in a particularly heated game of Maidens' Kiss."
Heinrich smiles silently. Looks like they've all seen action of one sort, or another. Good. Maybe we'll all live through this.
Eying Ikni, he takes mental note of her wide-eyed gawking. With perhaps one exception...
Heinrich pulls a crossbow bolt from the case sticking out of his pack, expertly loading his crossbow while easily keeping pace with the group, his longer strides covering the ground with effortless grace. "I'm Heinrich. Easiest to think of me as a sniper. If someone's eye offends, I'll put it out at 60 paces."
Gord, despite his confusional state, seems to know the streets of Daunton rather well. You take shortcuts and back alleys walking the beautiful streets of Cobblestop; you see the dome of the Great Library from a distance; when you make your way through the Overgrowth, a few thugs start approaching you, or spy you from dark corners, but all back off when they notice the man showing you the way.
Finally, when the sun is far on his way to the horizon, you exit the city from the North-Eastern border, and not far from you, the first sparse trees can already be seen...
ooc:just a little post to familiarize a bit with our dear Daunton...go on as much as you want

"It is good to hear that so many of you are experienced and practiced in swordplay," Ikni remarks. "I am only an egg, or so my teacher Oomailiq told me often. I look forward to learning many skills from observing your exploits. I hope I will not hold you back too much."
"Meh", shrugs Lorik, "if it turns out that you're not pulling your weight, then we let you die in combat. If you can't handle the heat, don't go rushing towards a burning building."

Galinndan goes from looking haunted, to haunted and pale. "Exploits. There will be no exploits. No grand sweeping adventures. We will get the job done, and if you don't do anything stupid I'll make sure you come home."
At the continued comments of the others, Heinrich simply smiles coldly and un-holsters his crossbow, fiddling slightly with one of the knobs on the side. Too much useless talk already.
"Gord." Heinrich strides up beside the human, saying the single word to attract attention. "What do you want us to do? And how much can you pay?"

You're making your way uphill, on a clearly seldom-walked path in the outskirts of the woods that make the majority of Daunton's interior. Gord answers the goblinoid's question turning to look at him without slowing his pace. Do not be worried youngster. If you can help me... I will reward you. I will.
After a few minutes, you reach a small wooden house. The door was left open, and Gord leaves it swinging behind him. In the shadows of sunset, you see dozens of weapons, heavy and light, chainmails, plates of armor, hanging from the walls, or cast aside in corners or on furniture. Through another open door you see another room, a small forge. The man would seem to be a weaponsmith.
Gord finally stops and catches his breath. He pours some water in a cup, then sits down heavily on a crude wooden chair, head down, seemingly exhausted.
After a few moments sitting without speaking, without drinking his water, without even breathing, Gord finally says: It all started... when I ound that damn ring. A ring. A plain, worthless metal ring. the man raises his head, his eyes looking out of the window, and makes a gesture with his hand holding the cup:There among the trees, maybe a hundred feet from here.
And that night, this whole nightmare started... and then They came... They want it back... BUT i DON'T HAVE IT ANYMORE!! concludes the man, in a high-pitched voice, almost jumping from the chair, and with a crazed look in his eyes.
The he falls back, tiredly, hiding his face in a big, callous hand.

Heinrich finds a spot opposite a window, where he has a view of the room and partially of the outdoors. Re-Holstering his crossbow, he raises his brow inquisitively. "So... you do want us to find the ring or kill those who want it?"
He pauses. "Or both?"

Haruka crosses her arms and stand in front of Gorm.
"I agree with the bugbear. We're going to need a little more to go on if you expect us to be of any help. Who are they? What happened to this ring? Also, what sort of reward are you offering?"
Gord gives a panicked look at Heinrich. Kill? No,no! You can't hope that! The man's nerves seem on the brink of breaking. He breathes deeply, in and out, seems to try to calm down and continues: Look, I was an... adventurer once. I had companions. We travelled the Shifting Seas far and wide. I'm getting old but I'm no weakling. But... he stops for a second. ...some things you can't fight. Horrible voices out there, a few inches from the door of your house... Haunting presences every damn night... Nightmares that never leave you alone! he spouts, almost sobbing. Two days ago, they came, during the day. They were Fey. But one of them... like an Eladrin... but gaunt, skeletric, almost a corpse... he...it was terrifying... Its eyes turned my mind upside down in a moment...They came to pick the ring...but I can't find it! I can't find it anymore!! You have to find it for me or my life's worth nothing!! cries the man grabbing Heinrich's sleeve compulsively.
