I can totally adventure without Natasha as she only represents a lvl 3 and lvl 1 item.
On another subject, do we only get 1 item/gold parcel per level in this system, or is it an entire set (n+1/n+2/n+3/n+4/nx2 gold) per lvl?

I'd think you might be able to resurrect them by paying the gold cost, but not sure.
How is that any different than just buying a new one for the same price? I mean sure, if you were so emotionally attached to Fluffy... But from hard economics point of view it doesn't help.

Ah, I misread that! I had leaders and defenders reversed. Well, I'm even less interested in playing a leader since that's what I'm playing in L4W. And I had planned on a druid for my second L4W character (if I'm ever able to start one.) Hmmm... well, I'll play what I want in the end, I guess.
Sorry, I was a bit vague, but when I said the gold cost, I meant for the raise dead ritual (500gp). For some mounts (like my draft lizard) it wouldn't be worth it, but Vertexx's warhorse (and up) it is worth it.
The census chart has weighed on me... I'm now thinking about a gnome illusionist wizard spy type.
With the Mark of Silvis essentially giving a free ritual caster feat I was thinking about taking Alchemy as the wizard free feat. How does that work with regard to the three free rituals a wizard normally gets? Do you get three free recipes instead? And do you need to buy a ritual book instead of getting one free?
One other alchemy question... do you need to be trained in a "key skill" to learn a recipe? (I do not actually own AV, I'm just going on what's in the CB/compendium.)

No ritual book as far as I can tell (ritual books are more magical than normal books); you don't need to be trained (but it helps).

I'm doing the same shtick, only going extremely illusion based, and trying to be more stealth, than suave.
I'll have wand implement, instead of orb of deception, because i really dislike that until paragon...
But otherwise, if it is illusion based, he's all up in it. Focusing on staying hidden, or invisible.
He was an old war courier, and therefore his illusions are designed to slow down pursuers, and allow him to reach his messages recipient.
He even has a little Scout Homunculus...
Want to link their backstories?
EDIT: thought it pertinent to mention, my gnome wizard does not have the mark of silvis, and has the ritual caster bonus.

Actually my character and backstory ideas sound almost exactly the same as yours. I was also going to grab some Stealth. Maybe too similar like showing up at a party in the same outfit.
Yeah, that was stand up of you. I've been approving a bunch of PC's in the last few days (which is great). THe CB has been invaluable for me to pick up the small stuff.
Hopefully we can get two adventuring groups going shortly
Stating my interest in trying a gnome wizard, and asking where gnomes fit in the background, isn't the same as walking into the tavern all ready to RP...
ryryguy, it's not likely we will be in adventures together, as we would be some of the only wizards running about... I'd be ok with my gnome coming from the same spy network you run with, maybe even competing peers in the same class...
Brothers even.
Twins.
I think it would be fun to play something to that effect!
So if you weren't going with the orb of deception, does that mean you aren't going with high Charisma? I was planning to, maybe I should just focus on that angle and not so much stealth. That could make an interesting contrast, the suave well-liked one vs. the sneaky rough-edged one.
I'll PM you a bit later to talk about it more and coordinate back stories.
I just finished reading through Divine Power. Can anyone say Malediction Invoker?!
Curse you! Mine won't get here until tomorrow!
My ECG arrived after some annoyance. Ordered from my local B&N. Went in Tuesday (its drop date). Wasn't there. Went in Weds. Wasn't there. Asked them. They said they had no idea when it arrived (they're computer had no estimate of its arrival or notice of whether it had been shipped). I raised an eyebrow at this and said I'd could already have had it from Amazon. They shruged and said why don't you do that, so I did.
My ECG arrived the same day here and at B&N.
Pretty shoddy on their part. UPS can tell me where any package is between ship and door. B&N can't even know that?
Now to read it....

I would have been all over that, except a) I wanted to heal people for once, and b) I wanted to use a sword. Also, the Eberron pantheon doesn't really inspire me towards Invokers. I have over a month before I need to finalize my character though, so I may go Malediction anyway.
Dear WotC, you seem to have forgotten to include the Malediction-specific PPs in my copy of DP. I eagerly look forward to your offer to replace my book with a correct one. Oh wait...
It's not that there aren't good PPs for Malediction, but I find it bizarre that there were no Malediction PPs but two Wrath ones. Seriously, why?
I'm glad I didn't buy ECG online before I saw that it was mostly just a sourcebook for DMs with a mount section. I feel much better about my warhorse now that I read the new ones. maybe I'll get a carver if Rohna ever makes it to 6th lvl.
