"Ye can just take a look at my shield a'n that'll tell ye all ye need to know," Gurdan says, with more than a bit of pride. He displays his shield for all to view, and it is indeed quite worn. "This shield has been with me since before I can remember... we've got a little contest, me and her, to see which one will fall first. Heh."
"I avoid melee combat when I can, as is fitting of someone of my station, and from a distance my enemy's luck tends to run out as they fall before my gaze," states lord Jarot dismissively.
The rest of the shift, and in fact, the rest of the day goes by smoothly. It becomes quiet after the event with the salesman... a little too quiet. The sun sets once more and then at close to 5 am, as the sun starts to comes up, Alexia and Gurdan are finishing their shift, preparing to hand over duties to Lord Jarot and Garrick.
Perception Check
Everyone roll a Perception Check: DC 31!! (And this is why they were able to sneak around the city and steal stuff, ... good luck)
Success
You can hear the sounds of padded foot-steps on the roof moments before you see the glass from the skylight shatter and two warforged drop from the cieling onto the large table. You are allowed to act during the surprise round
Failure
(OOC: Unfortunately this will be most if not all of you. IC happens to like these guys. Hopefully IC will like you too!) You are caught off guard and startled when you see Gurdis' skylight shatter, followed swiftly by two warforged. You do not get to act in the surprise round.
Either (after checking your result above)
The warforged look at the group with menace, drawing their daggers and preparing for a fight. "Give us the Gem or DIE" they yell in unison.
About...
Combat: I will be rolling Initiative. For this first battle, I am adopting Mal's combat system. I will be rolling init for you all. The bad-guys will have 1 init (average of all the combatants). Whoever rolls BETTER than the BGs can post in whatever order they post in. Then the BGs will take their turns. Then EVERYONE will go in whatever order, HOWEVER. I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if at the top of your posts you would put down which round of combat your actions apply to, so that when I go back through, I can just count 6 posts of actions per round. It'll make my life a LOT easier. Thanks!
OOC
Initiative: Well... That made things easy... The BGs will go first and then all of you guys will go. I guess that would make it my turn.
In Character
The warforged before you scan the room for the gem. Not seeing it, one of the warforged call out to it's allies and you hear a another shattering sound as three more warforged jump into the house from the window, glass covering the floor. They look down at Grryth and over at Alexia, drawing their blades. The front door flies open with a loud BANG and three more stand in the doorway near Lo-Kag.
You seem to be surrounded.
One of the warforged look familiar to you. He has greenish-yellow glass covering his eyes. He points at Alexia from the front door. "We WILL have the gem! You cannot stop us!" He scans the room, his eyes glowing. Turning to his companions he shouts "Tear the place apart if you must, but FIND IT!"
Round 1:
Badguys: Done
Grryth - Has not gone
Garrick - Has not gone
Lord Jarot - Has not gone
Alexia - Has not gone
Lo-Kag - Has not gone
Gurdan - Has not gone
Smell of fresh raw meat brings Lo-Kag to the table. Ripping chunks of meat as he listens to everyones fighting style. "I prefer melee combat as well, but I am always looking for ways to give my comrades advantages in their attacks. I learned long ago that battles are won when we all work together." Lo-Kag then says in an embarrassing tone, "Excuse me everyone. I must wash the pancake batter off my sword. It's driving me crazy."
Round 1
Preception 1d20+2=Can't possibly win!
Minor action: Summon Armor
Move Action: Draw Quickcurse Rod
Free Action: Quickcurse Rod ablity to curse the Warforged with the glasses and who spoke.
Standard action: Attack with Eldrich blast against the Warforged with the glasses.
Though stunned for a moment Lord Jarot quickly acts! There is a flash and then he is wearing Leather armor. He draws a short rod and flings a shard of energy at the Warforged who spoke.

So, I have several ways to boost your accuracy and lower enemy defenses. If you are planning on using an encounter or daily power, please let me know, and I can try to increase your chance of hitting. The powers that let me do that are a melee at-will that lowers one type of defense, a melee encounter that boosts everyone's accuracy, and a daily that boosts everyone's accuracy.
Also, I can slide you when I heal you. I will try to slide you into advantageous positions.
In a flurry of motion, Alexia draws her sword and lunges at the intruders. She drives her weapon into her target's body and twists it, tearing away part of his armor as she does so.
actions for round 1
Can't beat that stealth roll; no surprise round for me.
Minor: Draw sword.
Move: Move to D7.
Standard: Guiding Strike against 'forged in E7. Hits AC 29 for 13 damage. Nice. Assuming that hit, the target takes a -2 penalty to AC until the end of my next turn. Is that the same 'forged who came in earlier today?
I like Alexia's token, btw. Nicely done.

Reason: Got power name wrong - corrected to read Strength of Stone
Since your map only shows the 2 forged and not the others you emntioned I am posting my turn based on the map provided.
Grryth stands up and with axes in hand moves toward the two 'forged that dropped through the skylight. (as stated in an earlier post, Grryth was staying up during during the shift after his, which is this one).
Moving to stand beside Alexia, Grryth takes a mighty swing at the forged feeling slightly invigorated as he does so.

Oh wow... so sorry about the map guys! Unfortunately I am at home right now and my map is at work. I'm really busy at home right now, but since you guys have already posted your actions, I'll redo the map so that you guys can actually see all of the enemies and I'll place them in appropriate spots for where your characters moved. Unfortunately, my update will have to wait for monday morning, but I'll update just as soon as I can. Sorry for starting a battle and not being able to update during the weekend. I'll try not to let that happen again. (I am going to copy my maps on friday and send them to myself so that I can update during the weekends).
Curses: Just as a note to our two feylocks. The curse can only target the NEAREST enemy to you. Obviously if I had the correct map up you would be able to see who was closest to you, so I'll let you guys revise your actions once I post the correct map, or more likely, I'll just take the slap on the wrist for being a bad dm and let you curse who you cursed.. Yeah, I think I'll just do that... bad DM bad! lol.
Did you originally place a foe closer to Lo-Kag that he could have reached for a melee attack? If so, Lo-kag would have attacked that foe using his sword rather than a ranged attack. If your foes were no where close to Lo-Kag, that's fine. Lo-Kag has lousy aim with his war hammers. He neeeds more practice
I think you guys would have done things differently if I had had all of the badguys visible to ya. I'm going to post the real map on monday and I'll give you the oportunity to take new actions if you want to. Some of those rolls of yours were awesome, and I'm going to let you keep the result on the d20 and change the attack you would have made (especially you Lo-Kag) since there were definitely opponents in melee range for all of you melee attackers.
Here you go all, here's the REAL map. As I said in my last post, you can choose to keep your old actions or make new ones. Either way, your old d20 rolls stay as they were. Please let me know in your next post if you are KEEPING your old actions. If you are NOT keeping your old actions, please tell me your new actions (and fluff if applicable) and indicate (preferably in the title of your post) if this is a REVISION of your actions. Thanks all and sorry for the weekend long delay! )
You mentioned that you are adopting Mal's combat system. If I recall correctly, Mal also posts the Hit points and Defense scores ofthe bad guys as well so that players know if they hit and/or killed a bad guy, thus making it easier for the next player to take his action without waiting to find out who is alive/dead.
ROUND 1 (new action)
Grryth stands up and with axes in hand and moves toward the 'forged that smashed through the window. (as stated in an earlier post, Grryth was staying up during during the shift after his, which is this one).
Moving to stand between his comrades and their foes, Grryth lets out a growl and makes two quick slashes at the 'forged standing on his far left and right while keeping his eye on the forged in the center.
Mechanics
Move action = C2-D2-E3-E4-D5 Standard Action = Dual Strike. First attack vs Theif 1 (C6) Use roll from last time: Roll Lookup (22 vs AC) Damage if hit: 1d6+3=6 - IF theif 1 is reduced to 0 hit points Grryth gains 5 temp HP Secondary attack vs Theif 2 (C4):1d20+10=27 (vs AC) Damage: 1d6+3=4 If hit or missed, mark both targets Free action= Growl menacingly at the warforged at C5
OOC group
We had better get some help over to Lo-Kag, as he is vastly outnumbered and is the only one between the baddies and the item we are supposed to be protecting.
DMDanW, you're correct. Mal DOES post those. However, I think that it influences player decision too much so I am not going to post those. I'll will be on enough to let you know if you have killed someone (probably even before someone else has a chance to post) as I am on practially ALL day (from 8am to 5pm PST) while at work. However, from this day on, I will not be able to post at night or weekends cause I'm starting school.
Combat
Grryth managed to kill Thief 2 (gaining 5 temp HP) and hits Thief 1 for 4 damage marking the warforged.
Still somewhat surprised by the sudden appeareance of the warforged units, Garrick grabs his weapon and then moves F-6, cursing his nearest foe (Thief 5) and blasting forward a wave of psychic energy, aiming to confuse his foes into attacking each other.
The target makes a melee basic attack as a free action against a creature of your choice. If the target misses with the attack, it takes 9 psychic damage
Thief 1: 14 vs Will -- attack master thief
Thief 5: 13 vs Will -- attack thief 6
Master Thief: 27 vs Will -- attack thief 1
