D20 "Mutants & Masterminds" second edition

Yes, I and one of my role-players picked up Green Ronin's D20 "Mutants & Masterminds" 2nd Ed. book this past week. I play to run a one-shot of the revised superhero game this coming weekend.

I've played and run numerous comic book-based campaigns over the years, including the (D6) DC Heroes/Universe, Marvel Superheroes, Champions/Hero, GURPS Supers (2nd Ed., to be replaced by GURPS 4e "Powers"), and D20 "Silver Age Sentinels." Each has its own merits, but I'm pretty pleased by what I've seen so far in terms of M&M's streamlined rules, its descriptions of common superheroic concepts and styles, and its balancing of a point-based powers system with modified D20 rules.

My local game shop (which is about a block away from the apartments that burned down during Rita :\ ) expects to get 2.0 in late this week or next.

It's great.

Had mine since GenCon . . . one of the lucky few. Now that others have them too, I've had the opportunity to build with it . . . I like it!

Amazon.com says:

Items not yet shipped:
Delivery estimate: December 9, 2005 - December 12, 2005
1 of: Mutants & Masterminds: RPG - 2nd Edition

Given I ordered in October 2nd, that's mildly irritating.

I got sick of waiting & bought a copy off of e-bay

Saved $5, had it four days after buying it. Couldn't be happier.

I gave up on my Amazon order and made the trek to my local game store. Still digesting it, but I like most of what I see.

Although I haven't participated in any Living M&M discussions to this point, I'll definitely be in for playing. I can barely keep up with the two games I'm running these days, so I doubt I'll be able to contribute more than that.

I've got it and have started reading it.

I got mine throughComics NOW which I found on Amazon. I received my book within a week of ordering. I tried a bunch of local shops first and all of them were sold out and not sure when they would get more.

Yup, I have two copies. (I ordered from eBay)

At first I really didn't like it, I'm still in the middle of my first conversion of a 1st edition character, but I think I do like it... (This wasn’t really an easy character to convert either but it seems like it will work.)
