I am not really impressed. I have seen such rendered battles before, and they always lack something. In this case, I think the combat scenes weren't dynamic enough, and the weapons effect didn't fit really fit their originals.
There needs to be a lot more weapon fire and more maneuvering.

Not that I could pull something like that off, and that it didn't like a lot of hard work.

Even by the standards of fan made animations, that wasn't that great. There is some significantly better stuff on cgtalk and the like.

To be fair though, this movie has been out there for several years.... when it was made, it probably was state of the art for a home computer at the time...

and it was a cool way to bring in about every major film/tv space ship into one big confrontation...

Aye. It's about eight years old now.

for those who remember the game, the video is a VGA Planets 3.5 player's wet dream.

VGAP 3.5: Still my favorite strategy game of all time. Shame Tim dropped the ball on Planets 4. Oh well.
