Ignoring what I feel about Dragonball in general, the Trailer just isn't provoking. Not really interesting in any way. It's like they decided to just random shots from the movie and put them into the trailer instead of looking for interesting scenes. Maybe they're just banking on the fact that people are going to see it or aren't going to see it solely based on the name...

Funny, they normally put the best scenes in trailers. Hmmmm.

Yeah, trailers don't matter for something like this, though. Dragon Ball has three camps of peopel, with very little line blurring between them: people who LOVE it, people who HATE it, and people who don't know anything about it (or as I call them, "the lucky ones"). Of the three divisions of people, only the first group will pay to see a DB movie, no matter what they do to hype it up. Other than some internet banners declaring the movie's existence, I'm really surprised they're even wasting advertising dollars on it.
My online gaming group, Torch of Spirit (Contains all information for the current game I'm co-DMing as well as lots of houserules I'm using or considering for the future. Feel free to check it out.)
I had one* simple expectation for a Dragonball movie: that it look like Dragonball.
Now I ask you, ladies and gentlemen: did that look like Dragonball?
*I actually had zero expectations for this movie, knowing it would be absolute garbage. But after watching the trailer, I added that single criterium, realizing that I had in fact always assumed that a Dragonball movie would look like Dragonball. Obviously, this was a very poor assumption.
From what I saw in that trailer, it just looks too modern and normal. It has no elements of that weird historical/fantastic/modern/futuristic mash-up that Dragonball has for a setting. Without that, the series loses a lot of its charm. I doubt this version will even have dinosaurs or a robot (let alone one designed in Akira Toriyama's unique style).
Overall, this looks like it may be even worse than the last live-action take on Dragonball, and that one was bad.

Mostly agree with you, though I'd settle for a few mountain smashing fight scenes.
Unfortunately I am expecting a lot of filler. Nor do I expect master Roshi to be enough of a lecher.
I'm one of the people who thinks that Dragonball is, in fact, a great series, and doesn't get the respect it deserves. That said, there's only one way I can think to characterize this trailer:

I'm done letting the Macekre of DBZ bother me. After they went with "Dragon, Dragon, rock the dragon" when an official English dub of Cha-La Head-Cha-Laalready existed, it was a sign of "Abandon all hope...".

I thought the sign to abandon all hope was when FUNIMATION picked up the license.
Watching this trailer, I was reminded of an episode of MST3K. In it, Mike and the bots were redecorating and had covered the walls in many different types of wallpaper, hung at odd angles and overlapping each other.
The guys are pround of their job, and they call in Gypsy to look at it. As soon as she sees it, she starts screaming, "Oh, my god! Oh, my GOD!! OH, MY GOD!!!! WRONG!!! WRONG!!! WRONG!!!"
I felt just like that...

I like it too. Sure its not the best anime in the world but its sold good, has a beginning and an end story. And, like it or not, it opened a lot of peoples eyes (especially younger generations) to anime the way speedracer did for my generation.
I'd say if this were 10 years ago, it wouldn't matter what the trailer looked like, but this movie is trying to recapture fans who havent seen an episode in 5. From the looks of it, it dosn't appear like its going to be faithful nor fun. DOA got more of a rowl out of me.

Dang. Fox made them take it down. I missed it. But it doesn't sound like I missed much.

Not really. It was barely one step above a slide-show of production photos.
