I've been hating it, too. I'm almost always in favor of free speech no matter what, but I would seriously consider favoring a law banning remakes.

The problem though with just condemning remakes is that there's a very different but similar thing that's sometimes done, which I will call 'improvements'. The prime example is the new Batman franchise. Obviously it is not a remake of the tasteless anti-Batman propaganda movies that were put out to try to destroy Batman's reputation, but what would the exact distinction be?

I'm in favor of free speech, and wouldn't vote for something banning remakes.

Voting with my dollars is good enough for me. I have plenty of other ways to spend $$$ without going to bad movies, but I'm not going to begrudge anyone satisfying their own tastes.

After all, I think I have superior taste in music, but what if I'm wrong?

That said, unless I hear something fan-freaking-tastic about this remake, I'll be spending my money on other pursuits.
