Public Enemies

Yeah, it had a stupid ending that could have been done a lot better. And yeah Superman had to be rescued several times by Batman because Superman is just not that bright. Especially in a stand-up fight. But then again everybody already knows this.

Other than that it was good. Very good for a film version of that kinda thing. As good as the first Ultimate Avengers comic DVD.

It wasn't as good as the Superman/Batman comic series upon which it was based (which over time became one of my favorite comic books), but otherwise, it was swell.

I recommend it.

4 1/2 outta 5 of whatever it is they give for these things.

I thought you were referring to the Johnny Depp film for a minute. I picked up that Superman/Batman comic too (mostly because I'm a huge mark for Ed McGuinness's art) and I was mostly pleased with it. I agree that the ending was pants (as the say across the pond). I've lost a lot of faith in Loeb as a writer, particularly since he started on the new Hulk series (again though -- McGuinnes).

But yeah, not too shabby. A fun read.

*Edit* To the point, I haven't seen the DVD movie yet. I really like that they made the effort to copy McGuinnes's style, as I think it works very well for superhero art. Hopefully I'll get to catch it soon.

Yeah DS, the artwork is an adamantium jock strap alright, but that robot ending is a real pair of hog-humped overalls.

I mean come on fellas, you're gonna literally vaporize a chuck of Kryptonite the size of Cuba at a distance that you need a wormhole just to get to, but then you see the explosion in the atmosphere like it's about ten miles up, and out of that flies a Superman/Batman logo plane like a june-bug out of a buzzard's rectum? Even the glass canopy intact? How does that work exactly?

Come on comic book writers. Third grade physics, with maybe just a tiny, little bit of observation about what real explosions do.
It's not like this is brain salad surgery.
