Hey guys. I was just wondering if there is anything I need to be on the lookout for, when released over here. We usually get the new series 6-12 months after you guys.
So.. anything new and awesome out there?

I can only say what I am watching. The new shows I like have been Mercy, Flash Forward, NCIS Los Angelas, the Forgotten, and Stargate Universe. Mercy and the Forgotten are possibilities for early cancelation.
Mercy is the only medical drama since the early days of ER that I've liked. It focuses around nurses and I've found it entertaining. Flash Forward is based on a book (so far the book is better) and has some neat ideas but there are too many characters and too much conspiracy. NCIS LA has been entertaining and fun. Forgotten is a different take on the cop dramas and the weakest new show I watch. Stargate Universe has been very good. It is different and unlike anything I've really seen.
I have to second Stargate Universe. I'm really loving it. It's not like the original series, it's more grim and gritty and focused more on pure survival than exploration (so far, at least). It feels more like an epic movie than like a TV show. I hope it keeps up this way.

Stargate Universe is the only thing I've heard of. I don't really care much about the networks anymore, and I'm not interested in paying for cable given how much I'd have to pay when I'd watch only about 3 or 4 channels. If Stargate Universe gets synidcated like the other two series were, then I'll probably be watching it next year.

Based on the first episode that just premiered recently, USA's "White Collar" is going to be a show to watch.
(And it's not a new series this season- started as a mid-season replacement in the spring- but NBC's Castle with Nathan Fillion is a really enjoyable show.)

I think they can only keep five episodes at a time, and two-parters count as two, so if you want to try Hulu you can may only be able to get the pilot for another week or so until the new episode airs.

My favorite new show of the season is Glee. I'm also enjoying Eastwick, but it's not doing well in the ratings. I've seen a few episodes of Modern Family, but unfortunately it's on opposite Glee.
Not sure if another thread has covered this, but...
On the animation side of things, there's Titan Maximum (which is a decent send-up of Voltron & the like), and season 4 of The Venture Bros.
Really been grooving on the new Venture Bros. season—par for the course. Really good about maintaining continuity (for ex., kept all the mentions about Capt. Sunshine by the Monarch intact [death of Wonderboy; Capt. Sunshine thinking the Monarch's invulnerable; etc.]), & answered some questions & created more in the process. And a slew of movie references thrown in (no Star Wars ones that I've seen, so far).

Modern Family and Community are probably one of the two best US sitcoms in ages (since the premiere of How I Met Your Mother). Cougar Town has potential, but they really need to tone it down a notch.

I may take a look, though I don't always like watching really long videos on a computer. Sometimes they just don't load very well, and it takes longer to watch them then it would if it were just on TV.
Does the series have any significant spoilers for the last season of Atlantis?

...I don't always like watching really long videos on a computer...
I suppose one of the reasons I like Hulu so much is that my network can handle it, and I have a dual monitor setup. I'm usually doing one thing on my first monitor and watching Hulu full-screen on the second one. And unless the internet is really slow that day I can usually watch hours of high quality video (indistinguishable from normal TV) without so much as a hiccup. When there is a slowdown I just pause the Hulu video for 5-10 minutes to let the buffer fill up and I'm usually fine from there.
We also have the TV in the living room hooked up through a computer. We normally watch live TV in there or show's we've recorded with the PVR software, but occasionally we watch Hulu shows in there, and we often have a hard time telling the difference between live TV and Hulu Desktop.

I haven't seen all of Atlantis yet (waiting for it to loop around on Hulu so I can watch it from the beginning) but I don't feel like anything was spoiled so far. Because the series takes place on a ship that's an unimaginable distance outside the known space (where only a gate with a looooot of extra power can dial) and there's no way to get home there's actually not a lot about the show that can spoil other Stargate shows. It helps to know who the Ancients are, but that's about it. It really breaks from previous shows, but in a good way (IMO).

You need to connect your computer to the TV! If you've got a DVI output on your computer and a HDMI input on your TV, you just need an adapter!
I use that setup with my MacBook Pro, which is also a lot more reliable than the cheap DVD player I own..

After all 10 seasons of SG-1, and most of the Atlantis run, I hope I'm ok on that topic.

Other than a mention that Atlantis exists, there are no real mention of SG-A. And other than the Ancient communication stones and the basics of gates you'd get from the first ep or movie, nothing really from SG-1 either. Its related, but very much on its own.
Not that that is a bad thing.

I'm guessing this is common knowledge by now, but it's looking like Hulu may start charging for content in the near future, so waiting and playing catch-up on Hulu may not be the best choice.

Yeah, I watched it and it was pretty light on the continuity porn from what I could tell. There's stuff lampshaded for the people who aren't regular Stargate viewers, but there was also stuff that did connect to the larger universe. Heck, the pilot had O'Neil, Carter, and Jackson, and even Walter and Dr. Lee had brief appearances. I'm almost surprised they didn't squeeze Siler in somewhere.
Not a bad start, but we'll see how long they can keep this show going. Atlantis was strong first season, but somewhere around the third season it felt like they ran out of ideas.

Hulu folks have indicated that this means additional content for a fee, and that broadcast TV stuff should continue to be free with ads, as should most cable stuff.

You can also watch it free on SyFy.com.
