I like all the suggestions for the stats so far. The locking bite sounds like some improved form of grab. Have we done something like this before?

Yes, I just had a minute to look it up. And it seems the 2003 limit on the size of any "loop" in the universe is just a bit less, though I think there are newer, slightly larger limits.

If I'm reading what you're saying correctly, yes. In the "looped" universe, the twin that stays on earth still ages more than the one that travels around the entire universe. The calculation works the same as in the usual "unlooped" case, except you only have an "outgoing" leg to the trip. It doesn't matter whether you stop the traveling twin at the end or have the earth-bound twin jump on the...

We seem to have missed this one in December: Roy Glauber, Nobel Laureate in physics for his work on quantum optics (the quantum mechanical properties of light), passed away on December 26 at age 93. He was one of the last living people to have witnessed the original atomic bomb tests, having joined the Manhattan project theory division at age 18. And he was a a big supporter of the Ig Nobel...

Yeah, black holes are weird like this. So you're talking about a time dilation/redshifting effect. If we're far away from where stuff is collapsing, as the stuff collapses just small enough to form the black hole horizon, time near the black hole slows down enough that it looks to us that the black hole actually takes an infinite amount of time to form. But the light gets more and more...

Umbran's explanation is spot-on, but I did want to offer a comment on the acceleration part. It's not the acceleration that makes the difference in aging, but it isn't possible for the traveling twin to go away and then come back to the earth to make a comparison to the stay-at-home without accelerating, at least in our universe. There has to be a change in inertial frame somewhere. On the...

A little off-topic, but is anyone else seeing this thread as highlighted in the forum listing? Why is that?

Sir Michael Atiyah, one of the great mathematicians of the last century, passed away Friday at age 89. He was awarded the Fields Medal and Abel Prize, generally considered the two highest awards of mathematics, among other prizes, for work in topology and geometry and their relation to theoretical physics. He was also president of the Royal Society (UK) from 1990-95

OK, I can accept a Magical Beast version of the Giant Horsefly, but it would be nice to have a little more of a difference.

Does +5 work for you? Partnering: Caprines of 6 or higher Hit Dice can perform this resonance striking method. The caprine and another willing intelligent creature spend at least 1d4+4 hours performing a task together. The precise task is unimportant, provided both partners passionately dedicate themselves to it. Traditional caprines prefer to use partnering to enjoy "a night of heaven" with...

I'll agree with your suggestions for locate object and go with 200 ft for both radii. This looks good, including the other (Sp) and (Su) abilities! I guess spells should be next, but I'm kind of dreading that list. Sorc spells first? Spells per day is 6/9/9/9/8/8/8/8/7/7, I believe. 0th - acid splash, arcane mark, dancing lights, detect magic, mage hand, message, read magic, resistance,...

Those tactics will be fine. But I don't see anything in Maddening Presence that limits it to 1d4 drain --- you have to make a save to be immune for 24 hours, so, if you fail the first save, you can fail and fail again.

Well, if we're copying from the equipment, does that just leave CL for the different constructs? I'd suggest using the same CLs for the juggernauts as in create guardian.

Hmm, I thought standard usage was gendered pronouns with undead from known progenitors. But "it" it is! Your proposed tactics look good. Same languages as perhaps the General or maybe not quite as many (like the Shadow Walker)? Do you have some additional background text in mind?

Merfolk does make sense as the base creature in that case. But I agree with doing the additional ogrish sample. I'd be willing to add summoning to the Mystara version, but I still don't really like the ram attack. As for the summoning table, why don't we start with the same progression as in the wereporpoise and adjust as necessary?
