Not sure what it is like in US, but when I look at what I would have to pay (incl. shipping) now for a Numenera HC in UK from a UK based online retailer, I find that itís cheaper than had I backed the N2 KS, but that does take into account that I donít want decks, novels and all the other bits; so just buying the physical RPG books. I guess it depends on what you want to get out of the KS, but I try and estimate retail cost in UK less 10% (online discount) and free shipping for just the products I am interested in (which means I have to wait until I know what SGs have been unlocked). If that total is more than the pledge + shipping, then Iím in. That's definitely a consideration when backing a Kickstarter like this. If you just want the main book and not all of the additional fiddly bits that get funded along the way, the cost probably isn't worth it for you. I like that you get more bang for your buck from a Kickstarter like this.

  • 06:19 PM - Ghost2020 quoted TrickyUK in post You Can Now Pre-Order The Starfinder Beginner Box
Why was this not released prior to the Core Rules? I loved the Pathfinder Beginner Box and actually used to introduce a group of people to RPGs, but other than that it has been redundant because I normally just go straight to the core rules. I am about to start a Starfinder campaign in January and this would have been a great way to kick it off, but I'm just going to dive straight into the Dead Suns adventure path and so by the time this is released, it will be of little use to me. The Pathfinder Beginner set wasn't released prior to the core rules either. This is coming out now because the line has proved to have legs and money can be diverted to create an expensive starter set.

  • 09:09 PM - Morrus quoted TrickyUK in post Numenera 2: The Kickstarter Is Live!
It is interesting in that the number of backers has dropped significantly on day 2 (so far). This makes me wonder whether the first day represented a cohort of the fan base more than anything else. Pretty standard. Kickstarter campaigns are inverted bell-curve, with a really long flat low bit in the middle. For example, here's the last KS I ran. Not nearly the same scale, obviously, but the pattern is pretty standard. 88813

Just read the latest update. Does anyone understand what it means for EU shipping? It says it is EU friendly and can save people money but I can't see what has changed. Still not wanting to pay $70 shipping for $85 of books. If you live in the UK and were going for the books and PDF option it doesn't change anything - as a books only shipment, as long as they were labelled as such, wouldn't have been laible to VAT anyway.

Shipping to UK has put me off. Such a shame. I really wanted to back this one. I feel the same way. I contacted them and they said they were looking into a better EU rate, but that's all they could say.

Hasn't there been a Realms/Ravenloft crossover before? I'm sure that they could come up with something fairly easy. Town x in Realms is suddenly shrouded in mist. The PCs need to go an investigate. Maybe the mists and the Dark Lords are trying to expand their influence and take over the realms, or just create a permanent link to the Domains of Dread. There has been a direct crossover before. Castle Spulzeer is part 1 and happens in Forgotten Realms: http://www.amazon.com/Spulzeer-Fantasy-Roleplaying-Forgotten-Ravenloft/dp/0786906693 The Forgotten Terror is part 2 happenes in Ravenloft: http://www.amazon.com/Forgotten-Terror-Fantasy-Roleplaying-Ravenloft/dp/0786906995/ref=pd_sim_14_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=51RNS90XFRL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR121%2C160_&refRID=1E3RTW829T7VZKDDSAP7

  • 12:46 AM - EthanSental quoted TrickyUK in post Pathfinder Online Layoffs; Ryan Dancey Leaves Company
Really bad news about the lay offs. However, I also have to say that I tried this game. I can't recall ever deciding to not like a game so fast, and I was really hoping for something different and good. I find it hard for anyone to honestly think that the game really is any good. If you play any other game out now, even betas, you can see what the current standards are and this game just doesn't reach them. Sorry. Which is a reoccurring statement and probably why, as I mentioned earlier, they couldn't find any financial backers after they saw the state of the game.

Our DM has just given 2 books out! One for the fighter (who has one level of rogue) and is Dex focused, a manual of quickness. And for the wizard, a tome of clear thought. We are currently level 4. Is his name Monty by any chance?

We are currently level 4. He's deviating from the standard (which is his prerogative). The DMG clearly warns that doing so can make the game easier. As such, he's hopefully ready to deal with the result.
