  • 05:41 PM - Ralif Redhammer quoted RobJN in post Burning Questions: How Can I Add Ambience to D&D Sessions?
Makes anything instantly 150% more epic. For my part, Iíve been using a lot of the various 4+ hour fantasy music mixes on YouTube. That way, I donít have to mess around with it while running the game Ė it can just run in the background for the duration. I used to customize the music to the adventure, but I donít think the pay-off was worth the time investment. Four words: Two Steps from Hell

... now to get Sue to run a game of the Dresden Files RPG.... That would require using FATE. Hard Pass. I'd rather allow X cards or some other failure at my table first. Now, running it under Genesys, that's a completely different story, i'd be all over that like yellow on a post-it note.

... now to get Sue to run a game of the Dresden Files RPG.... SUE and Harry chat on Twitter pretty often... However, anything that's not well known by mainstream audiences probably won't get a huge post like this because it's really an outreach program by the Field Museum to get people interested in the museum and boosting attendance. Stuff like Marvel Heroic (which Cam mentioned), Star Wars, Star Trek, or other licensed games will probably be the most we see SUE reaching out into other tabletop RPGs. However, they're being a great ambassador for the hobby as several tweets have been of the variety "I have no idea what's going on but I love it!" with SUE explaining what D&D and roleplaying games are and others jumping in to help answer questions about the hobby. So it's really a win-win. The Field Museum gets exposure for SUE's new wing in the museum, and our hobby gets a giant murderbird full of science as an ambassador.

It doesn't injure me, but it does drive the point home that they are not getting any sales from me. I'm pretty sure they're okay with that.

Well, that was one rather large bit of marketing. I got through it, but I don't think my answers were the ones they were looking for. 1. I don't like the Realms 2. I don't want your Realms-centric books. (see #1 above) 3. I don't want your Realms-centric merch. (see #1 above) 4. I don't listen to your streams/'casts (see #1 above) Did anyone else notice those "special edition" and "collector's edition" questions? Sorry, no, I don't want to buy your books again, and packaging it with a pair of Drizz't's underwear is not going to get me to pony up. Yeah. I'm not sure my answers were what they were hoping, either. I was disappointed that there wasn't a way to say, "I value really deep stories, but I explicitly don't want a pervasive default setting." It felt like any time I answered "I like deep campaign lore", it could (and would) be interpreted as support for the Realms. On the same vein as your answers: 1) I hate the Realms 2) D&D is a TTRPG, I don't understand why that's a se...

Am I the only one in here to interpret that large survey as first visible sign of 5.5 or 6E approaching? Yes. D&D is selling better today than it was in 2014. It is also designed as an evergreen product, even if sales waned, it would hurt the brand to make a new edition. Well, that was one rather large bit of marketing. I got through it, but I don't think my answers were the ones they were looking for. 1. I don't like the Realms 2. I don't want your Realms-centric books. (see #1 above) 3. Sorry, no, I don't want to buy your books again, and packaging it with a pair of Drizz't's underwear is not going to get me to pony up. Why vilify them for selling things? It doesn't injure you. No one is coming after you for not buying things. As long as you were honest your answers were the ones they w...

I'm surprised they didn't mash it together with DA 3: City of the Gods and transplant it to some corner of the Forgotten Realms.... :hmm: And don't leave out The Temple of the Frog from Blackmoor. It had laser pistols etc. and a crewman from the crashed ship / City of the Gods...

I'm surprised they didn't mash it together with DA 3: City of the Gods and transplant it to some corner of the Forgotten Realms.... :hmm: Throw in Spelljamming and Gates to Firestorm Peak, and I think that would be a fair guess at a future product.
