  • 10:22 PM - Knightfall mentioned Dog Moon in post New Kulan PbP Bluffside Campaign on The Piazza!
Dog Moon, The old EN World PbP game is now going, but I'm going to try to revive The Piazza game as well. Both dulsi and hihama are interested in continuing and a new recruit is interested in the game. Angel (a.k.a. Rev) has stepped away from gaming and I haven't heard anything from Kell (a.k.a. khyde2184) If I get at least four players (five would be better), we will continue from where we left off. If you're not interested, it's not a big deal. I just wanted to let you know what's going on over at The Piazza. Let me know here, either way. Cheers! KF

BTW Dog Moon, if you're not interested in going back to the 5 year old PbP game, I'm considering re-starting the Bluffside campaign from last year. So far, I haven't gotten any confirmations for that game, but I figured I should let you know.

Thanee, Blackrat, renau1g, Dog Moon, Voda Vosa: I'm curious to find out if any of you are willing to continue with this adventure. I had lost the links to the main threads, but figured out a way to rediscover them. If not, I might try creating a new PbP game here, or try to restart my PbP game on The Piazza. Cheers! KF

And yeah, I know, that post was like from a month ago. Shows how long it has been since I've stopped by and visited. I feel like one of those people that like drive-by posts on EnWorld and then disappears again, only to return a month or so later. Gonna take me a LONG time to get to that 10k mark! [though I probably should have gotten it years ago if I hadn't slowed down my posting]your post count would be much much higher if a certain game was still going. * cough*cough* Edit Never mind, I had your name mixed up with Dog Head. Sorry about that.

I would like to think that all authors love the characters in their books, even the ones people are supposed to hate! You only kill the ones you love. Just ask Steven Erikson or George RR Martin... 100920 Been there, done that. Someone on another forum decided I have Mad Jack Disease... Violates various rules, both forum and societal. I just needed to vent a little to relieve some pressure. I might know someone who knows someone who knows a couple of guys in the "solutions" bizness who work cheap...

No, we are from a fair bit farther. I doubt my lady has heard of the place, but I'll be pleased to tell you about the lands of Silver Leaves once we've taken care of your problem. Lorien replies to the Lady's inquiry about their origin. "I have indeed heard of the Kingdom of the Silver Leaves. You are quite far from your home. A conversation about your homeland sounds like a great diversion once your mission is finished," she replies. "Of course my lady, your terms are reasonable and your quest is honourable. You can count on me." Quinn states Anyway, "I agree to the terms," he tells the lady. Although he hoped that her husband's body wasn't beyond recovery. From what he thought he remembered about harpies, they liked to eat their victims. How would the lady respond if they handed her a handful of bones? Aw well, hopefully he was still alive and that talk of his demise were incorrect. He looks at the others. "And I'm ready to go when everyone else is." "Yes, that sounds fair....

Tnt solves all of life's problem. A.k.a. no life, no problem. This should be far down on the list of options, however. Also not entirely sure how I would go about procuring tnt, which is probably fine. Actually, it's fairly simple to make out of a few fairly common ingredients... I am not about to list them, however, lol... :p (Old Army manuals and the Anarchist's Cookbook... just sayin'.)

  • 05:26 AM - Tonguez quoted Dog Moon in post American Gods sucked me in like the worship of Bilquis!
Yeah, I have no familiarity with the original source material. I had to guess who it was, which I wasn't sure if that was done on purpose or if they expected you to know who it was or I simply missed the comment that explained it. I had to look it up online though because I kept debating on two different characters and my familiarity with either was so vague I couldn't remember which was what. I did like the visuals though and the characters are interesting, so I'll check out at least another episode or two before deciding if I want to stop watching it or not. I liked the fact that it wasn't blatantly obvious who Wednesday was. The clues are there in his name "it's my day" and the opening sequence of the Norse arrivals. The guessing game afterwards is kinda fun - like who is the narrator? who is the god of Leprechauns?, who is Shadow Moon? (and why the stupid name?) who is Buffalo? was the tree in his vision Yggdrasil? and whats up with the god of VR?. Sometimes putting the clues...

No problem here either! Convenient timing for randomly coming back to EnWorld since I don't visit much anymore! I'll put up Reneg Desrek next but not tonight.

Hmmmmm, been a while since I've been here. Was searching for "Interesting Fey Adventures" and found a link that brought me to EnWorld. Unfortunately all of the useful stuff in that thread had been deleted by the author. Which brings back memories... Raven Crowking deleting all of his posts, though I can't remember why anymore. All I can remember is that he seemed to be blowing things WAY out of proportion, but sadly that seems to be a common reaction people have towards way too many things. Anyway, just thought I would pop in and say hello. :) I do not know the incident you are referring to; however, sometimes it is not the current straw, but the bricks of the same smell that came before. And sometimes it is simply so much straw. Some of the time, it is an overreaction, though; however, it can be difficult to judge that from the outside. Regretfully, it is probably not a good idea to continue this topic much further.

  • 02:56 PM - Scott DeWar quoted Dog Moon in post Macgyver: Oopsies and spoilers
Yeah, I don't really know enough about enough stuff, so when I see things, it SOUNDS plausible in a lot of cases, but I'm so accustomed to things working differently in tv shows/movies that I don't really get bothered if they don't work exactly how they should work. Especially since much of the country is probably as dumb as me and doesn't know enough to know when things aren't working correctly. I can question, doubt, be dubious, but I don't really KNOW. The things that I notice is when 22 guys assault an embassy currently being guarded by 4 marines and none of the marines end up even minorly scratched. I get that they have more experience and training, but against 22 guys... and what are those guys seriously doing? [And if the marines are that skilled not to take a single bullet, how come they're not skilled enough to kill at least one of the enemy?] None of the bad guys thought to perhaps flank the building and enter through the rear or do something besides shooting the shack or the gr...

Holy crap that is! I can't barely imagine eating ONE pound of chocolate, let alone the disgusting dark chocolate, let alone SEVENTEEN pounds of the stuff in a 24 hour period. That is about three times the average mass eaten by the average USA citizen in one day, according to a quick internet search. In one single type of food. No matter what it is, that will probably kill you. It is simply a matter of faster or slower.

  • 10:51 AM - CapnZapp quoted Dog Moon in post 5th edition Monster Manual: I think the really nice art detracts from the mediocre functionality of the book.
I've only glanced through part of the book and that fairly briefly, but one of the things I thought to myself was how the number of spells the monsters received was actually limited. I know 4e was totally different, but in 3e and Pathfinder, monsters had way too many spells, IMO. I actually thought about making variant monsters, subtracting ALL Spell-Like Abilities and Spells and giving them one or two cool abilities instead. Now, 5e doesn't remove all of the spells, but the Solar, for instance, doesn't have a bunch of SLAs AND the like 20th level casting of Cleric spells for a massive total number of spells it could use at any given point in time. Instead, it has a couple of spells and that's it. I guess they couldn't remove spells from monsters, but it does seem like they at least limited it. Limiting spells is a good thing. The real problem is that any high-level monster needs mobility or it can be easily shut down by crafty players. Any monster whose image suggests a possi...

  • 06:32 AM - Knightfall quoted Dog Moon in post Discussion Thread for the Gazetteer of Harqual
Whew, that is a lot effort! I'd forgotten about how much work you'd put into your world. Thanks. Sometimes it feels like the gazetteer will never be truly finished. Hopefully, this process will force me to finish most if not all of it. I should also note that the gazetteer has changed a lot over the years -- even before I moved the timeline for the world ahead. The parts I've 'finished' in the past need some updating, yet there are sections that have never been started let alone worked on. For example, I've done almost nothing for the islands and seas surrounding the continent, which partly has to do with those sections being at the end of the document. FYI, I just put up another post, but it's sparse. I don't have a lot for it, yet. My goal is to continue adding entries even if they aren't done yet or are completely brand new. The next two entries, Redstone Clan and Tribes of Zell, are brand new material.
  • 05:50 AM - Tonguez quoted Dog Moon in post GAME OF THRONES #2 :Home ACT14 /2016-Season 6
I'm surprised no one is talking about this here. I mean, the end of that episode.... I cheered! I don't do that often in shows. I mean, I guess I kind of half expected that to happen, but I still cheered nonetheless. I was a bit underwhelmed. Like we all expected it, it was hugely lampshaded and then had very little pay off. like they could have had the wounds heal or burst in to flames or even just glow red for a second or something a little more engaging than a sleeping wolf waking up. Same with the dragons, that should have been a huge scary dramatic moment and it was just cool but so what? It was a solid episode which had some good story and plot advancement but the only stand out cool bits where the Pirate King on the bridge and Boltons betrayal. and I still want to see Arya's cats!!!!

  • 05:55 PM - Celebrim quoted Dog Moon in post Cut scenes in your RPG
I already answered the first part in my previous post, but for this part, I disagree. I wasn't a part of this campaign because it was before I joined this group, but I remember hearing about this "Puzzle" that the PCs had to solve. It was something like "How do you get the water from point A to point B". That kind of puzzle, one where there are potentially multiple solutions, not a specific sequence of letters or numbers or anything that would require an exact number. The players came up with dozens of ideas, some were very plausible and should have worked, but the DM had this one idea in his head that should have solved the puzzle and because no one else had that one idea, they continuously failed. Their best ideas, all of them denied. I'm going to break in right the because what you are trying to argue here is, "Because some DM in another situation was a bad DM that used inappropriate railroading techniques that weren't fun, then I'm justified in using railroading techniques in anot...
