Miss Imogen thanks the sister at the end of a shift, and shares the information she has learned. Again, she uses the jug to pour out fresh water for the patients, and ensures it is chilled before she leaves.

Round 5. Tranio strides forward as the lightning flashes around him, unphased by the sparks flying around him, or at least doing his best to appear so. The end of this creature is near, and he wants to feel it, feel its heart stop beating. An offering to the unnamed god that feeds him. His hands touch the creature's scales, which are warm and impermeable, and coarse like sandpaper. He...

Would we all fit in Cimber's smaller canoe? If so, then that is worth pursuing (we could even ask him for it...). If not, I think we have the means to produce supplies we may need. The sensible choice would be to get the Brazen Pegasus. Heading further upriver seems more characteristic of the choices made so far.

Miss Imogen replaces her boot, retrieves her bow, and enters. Rather than following to the Commander's she checks in with the infirmary, and uses the jug to pour fresh water for the injured. Seemingly in light conversation, she enquires how long the canoe has been away, and who was in it when it left.

You haven't said what Domain they have chosen -- I presume Tempest, which already adds a lot of thunder/lightning spells. What's missing? The obvious spell is Lightning Bolt, which when the character is ready for a rare magic item could be filled with a Wand of Lightning Bolts. (easier than spending five levels in another class). Also, do you know the Elemental Evil Player's Companion?...

Her clothes were a mess, and she was hot and hungry. Some of that was quickly solved: she ran her hand...

OOC: Kobold Stew : Rodrigo actually is trailing behind miss Imogen. Rodrigo's eyes snapped at the druid, annoyed with himself that he got it wrong. "And where is this Omu?" He didn't known if this was how it always had been, or if it had been a new development. But still... if someone wanted to intercept souls, placing the soulmonger where the souls tended to go would make it more effective no? He wished they had a scholar versed in these matters.

... feats here to walk away with your preferred Odysseus (Medium Armor Master is low-hanging fruit for this very purpose). He's pretty damn good at everything though which is, I reckon, very Odysseus. dave2008 you are correct on the longbow thing but I can't fix the post for some reason. :/ To the folks talking about Odysseus' strength and stringing the bow--I have never interpreted or had this presented to me as a feat of strength. It has always been (in my readings and in classics courses and so on) explained as an act of cunning and skill. In that context "stringing his bow like a lyre" is indicative of special know-how and dexterous fingers more than brute force. Maybe I got bunk tellings? Welcome to mythology! :D (I did a quick skim of the full text of the Odyssey to see if I was insane or something, but of the 70 odd mentions of strong/strength in the tale less than a dozen refer to Odysseus' physical strength so I'm thinking I'm not totally off my rocker giving him a 12) Kobold Stew awww this ain't your first rodeo and you *know* I'd have gotten crucified hitting him with samurai, although your reasoning isn't bad. Glad you really dug this build. <3 Thanks to everyone for commenting and sharing your thoughts. As ever it is an interesting set of reactions utterly appropriate for Mythological Figures. ;) Behold the contentious Thor build.

Kobold Stew #40 You are right about this. I probably intermix my first Impression which mainly is from a youth book, although one written very close to the actual saga, with the real original. The impulsive stuff i recall come from his behaviour grieving about Patroklos and Briseis, and him dragging Hectors corpse behind his chariot There is one more fact i seem to remember: Although mortal isn't it he was some Kind of demigod? Son of some lesser goddess of the seas?

In the iliad he is pictured very impulsive which speaks for low to average scores for int and wisdom. So i think i might correct my above stats to 12 in Int but leave wis at 10. Definitely he has high Charisma though.

It's possible, certainly, but it requires a huge up-front investment. That's a good point. I readily admit to completely missing the component, especially the fact that it is consumed with each casting. That's a lot of rubies that would need to be crushed to light up a town. It could mean that anyone found tampering with them would have to pay a hefty fine if a town or city did set up street lights. I could still see a wealthy town centre having lights but perhaps nothing as elaborate as the street lights that we all take for granted.

So yes, it appears that I have the ability to create some frost and ice. I am still learning what it is I am capable of. This is who I am now." Rodrigo nodded. "My father spoke of men - or women - who did not have the years of study of wizards, or the fierce devotions to gods, who came upon their magical powers suddenly, after contact with a powerful magical event. Such things are not unheard of. Perhaps this is why you were able to reject the ring? I have no such magic, only my training - and my faith in my companions. We'll need every edge we can get in this jungle, and a bit of ice magic doesn't seem like a bad thing in this infernal heat! So... if I may ask... I saw you make a shield of ice. What else can you do?"

Ack! No no no! a. Barkskin is terribly worded, and currently no one really knows what is intended or how the spell is supposed to work. Even if there was a clear sense, though, Barkskin is one of the most concise and straightforward spells in the game. It is perfectly clear how it works. It's just not as powerful as people want it to be.

..snip.. The fighter is the pre-eminent nonmagical warrior. Knows weapons and armour The barbarian is fuelled by the rage mechanism. The rouge is defined by skills -- not by combat. If I don't want to play a professional warrior, then rogue is my only option. ..snip.. - Presumably you pick Fighter rather than Rogue for the combat prowess of the base class, in the same way a strength-based rogue picked rogue due to the skill capabilities of the base rogue chassis. ..snip.. <in regards to fighters/barbarians over rogues> They're much better in combat, being tougher, less restricted, and having greater capabilities. But they're nowhere near as good when it comes to versatility out of combat and skill use. - I'm guessing it depends on what you mean by "better". Because you want to play a tricky, skillful character who gets by in combat through dirty fighting rather than being an outright combat monster. I think this is were it strikes me most. To me, a Thug is more a professional...

You've made these points several times now, and so I suspect you think you're not being understood. You are: your points are clear, and we get that your understanding of the rogue requires the use of Dexterity as the main stat. Fortunately, the game supports this view of yours: You are correct sir. But I am also trying to ask for clarification incase I am the one that is confused. (It happens). So I am offering my perspective of what I see and asking for correction in hopes to gain a clearer picture. Some of us, including the OP who has I think been too patient, are interested in the option of a more diverse build. As a class, a rouge could have been many things; instead, it tends to favour Dexterity. The place to break free of that is in the subclass (as can happen with Arcane Trickster). If you're not onboard with the premise, then you obviously aren't going to like the results. But let's try to be constructive. Sure, but understanding the full intent is important to constructive i...

This is my main objection -- I understand that it allows summoning/restoration and that it means you don't need to feed it; I'd prefer that it just be a regular animal with limited plot immunity (rather than a magical workaround.) What you are describing is a pet though. A familiar is supposed to be something different: Dictionary definition: a demon supposedly attending and obeying a witch, often said to assume the form of an animal.

What's up with the layouts of the numbers? If the & represents the high number, then... d8 is wrong (& and 1 not opposite) d10 is wrong (& and 1 not opposite) d12 is wrong (11 and 2 not opposite). ??? I mean, if you accept that all of the faces are equally randomly liable to come up on a roll then there is no wrong

I think you are right that there are many options Your idea of an elf living off in the swamp is a fun one, and I'd suggest you just commit to that. I will offer a few thoughts on the mechanics of what you are proposing: 1. Absolutely consider the circle of Spores from the Ravnica book. It's got a creepy flavour, and necromancer-like abilities that will be fun to play with. (If not, then a Swamp Circle of Land druid would be your go-to. 2. Since you have decided on an elf, you might consider whether you really want a level in Hexblade. You don't need it for Sword proficiency (you have that with your Elven weapon training), so you are spending a level to be able to use your charisma stat to attack rather than strength. But you don't gain any functional proficiencies for what you've described. (Hexblade's curse is good for 1 combat per rest). With Hexblade, you'd likely want to have good numbers in Wisdom, Charisma, and Dexterity -- it's a big investment. Shillelagh is your friend -- a so...

Is it okay if Tommi still comes up and attempts to cleave? The Wizard is 145 feet away from Tommi with all of the other Bad Guys between 'em. I don't think I can allow it. He can attack the Worg, or you can redo your turn if you want to do something else. I was waiting on @tglassy, but I think his new job has got him too busy to be around here. I'll move forward tomorrow, regardless. I'm sorry things have stalled a bit, gang!

Miss Imogen currently 27/32 hp; one hit die spent in rest: [roll0] recovered. Hit points: 30/32. 2/3 uses of Fighting Spirit remaining. 1/2 first level spell slots remaining. Action Surge used. Ready to go! thanks for the healing, guys. OOC: You also get a 1d6+4 from Harb's healing skills, and your action surge will return with the short rest (being a fighter has its advantages!)

Well, I made him a murderer, so that he could have escaped from the prison as well (seizing the opportunity to follow, but from a different gang, or whatever). But whatever works. He's looking for a longsword, studded leather, and a component pouch. And the ribbon Mrs. Miller gave him the day before he killed her husband. Hi Kobold Stew! If you are still keen, lets find a way to pop him into the story :-) It is possible he could have been rescued from the mines, only to find himself alone... and somehow following the existing party to the pass. There are other options too of course, I'll PM you some stuff :-)

  • 04:24 AM - Blue quoted Kobold Stew in post Does Rope Trick Heal?
@Leatherhead gets it. Whatever is truly behind this question, the spell is not a healing spell. If it were, then a Life Cleric casting it would additionally heal 4 points of damage to anyone entering. Though it is not a healing spell, I as a DM don't mind at all if players use it for a short rest, because I am not going to worry over a half minute in a non-combat situation, given how I spend my time in real life. The question is not if it's a healing spell. It asks if it heals. The Catnap spell from Xanathar's gives people a short rest if they are uninterrupted for 10 minutes. Do you heal? You definitely can. It is a healing spell that Life clerics would add to? No. So we can see spells that can enable healing without being spells that heal. So life cleric adding or not isn't a valid criteria to use.

Over in the "What can a Wizard do that..." thread, Frog tried to claim the Wizard had no spells that help with healing.
