Agree completely with this with the the explicit inclusion of opening it up to DM's Guild (like was done with Eberron). I know Luke doesn't have the rights to the old notes which were slowly being published by the Troll Lords (Gail Gygax is sitting on those rights) but he has the rights to his memories and WOTC has the rights to the Greyhawk name and all published material-more than enough to...

I pre-ordered and just received the physical copy in Japan last week. I'd imagine that if you oder it direct from them, it's in stock now and can be sent right away. Their web-site tends to be a little out of date. Thanks, that's a good sign. I honestly just use Amazon because their website is pretty lacking.

It's not. It's set 5 years after the events of The Hobbit. So the great heroes are yet to come? LotR is more than 5 years after the Hobbit, right? And when did Gandalf say "the magic is going away"? The old Bakshi cartoon. At the end he points out that hobbits are getting taller and the elves are vanishing. It implies that magic is also going away. And in the books, the implication is that when all the elves sail away much of the magic goes with them.

Well, I've held off on the the other special cover books but these I'm thinking I've gotta have. But, I live in Japan. Anyone else living out of the USA had a good experience with a direct order to a game store for any of the easier special covers? Any recommendations on what game store to order from? Im in Australia and have had nothing but fantastic dealings with Noble Knight Games. Id definitely recommend them.

hmm . . . "third-party companies like Cubicle 7" I'm thinking you meant Gale Force Nine? Or did the Cubicle 7 guys come over from the UK to co-announce immediate availability of the Mines of Moria or something? Ugh, thank you...I don't know how I seem to mix those two up so often. Same thing used to happen with Games Workshop and Game Designers Workshop if I wasn't paying attention...

  • 02:09 PM - billd91 quoted KentDT in post D&D Promises to Make the Game More Queer
There is a no politics rule. I wonder if it just means no political topics that we don't agree with. More importantly, there are some topics directly about gaming and the gaming community that cannot help but have political overtones - inclusiveness whether of women, people who identify LGBT, or racial minorities in particular. ENWorld has usually offered those discussions some leeway because it's an inclusive place and as I mentioned above there's always a backlash. And it would be terrible indeed if a segment of our community could never discuss issues related to their identity because the white, straight males of the community were uncomfortable with the politics.

There is a no politics rule. I wonder if it just means no political topics that we don't agree with. No. It's just the mods rely on the users to report violations. Did you report the post? Most don't bother.

  • 05:04 PM - Ath-kethin quoted KentDT in post Sanity in 5e
That would be great if you could. Thanks Here it is. 76762 The parts I changed: I added damage on a successful save, added the bit about psychic damage hitting both hit points and sanity points, and added Sanity Resistance by level to mitigate the damage-on-a-successful-save bit. I also added a section on how proficiency in the Intelligence (Arcana) skill interacts with the Sanity system. I removed an optional rule that involved inflicting Sanity damage via a Charisma check. Essentially, I mashed the stuff Morrus designed with ideas from the d20 Call of Cthulhu book. And seeing it all written out above, I guess I changed an awful lot of what he had written. I also made it look pretty and inserted a spooky and totally unauthorized picture I found online. Anyways.

  • 02:01 PM - Abstruse quoted KentDT in post Welcome Our New Columnist - Darryl Mott Jr!
Welcome. I've been wondering where the AICN Tabletop column had gone. Always looked forward to that but I'll look forward to your columns here now. The TL;DR version: My father passed away last year and my depression got very bad for a long period due to that and other personal reasons. By the time I was ready to get back to the column, my editor had left AICN for a different website focused solely on movies. While my column won't be exactly the same as AICN Tabletop was (mostly because I have to tone down my potty mouth), we're using that as a starting point to find something that fits in with the other work being done here at ENWorld.

What pdf are you talking about? I can't seem to find a pdf of the 5e Al-Qadim conversion. He was talking about MessiahMushroom's "Ghul Lord" PDF. I haven't uploaded a PDF of my Al-Qadim conversion cause it's a very rough work-in-progress.

  • 06:32 AM - Jester David quoted KentDT in post [UPDATED] Dragon+: An Official D&D iOS App
Hey, sorry, I had to go to work for a bit. But, you're right, I am using a US account (so my original post probably wasn't much help) but I also noticed that Dargrimm was able to find it after trying again. Probably just an effect of being so new, hadn't gone through the system yet. I had to search by "Wizards of the Coast" to find it as well. It likely needs a few more downloads/ratings before it's visible under a search for "dragon". By the way, Jester Canuck, you're the guy who wrote "Jester David's How-to Guide to Fantasy Worldbuilding", right? Great book and resource. Got it from Amazon and just wanted to thank you and recommend it to everyone. That's me. Glad you liked it.

Hi, I live in Japan. I just saw the news article this morning (on my iPad), clicked on the embedded article, went right to iTunes, downloaded it and started reading before coming back here to check out the comments. Definitely available in Japan. Well, I could swear that when I checked it didn't show anything... but after reading your post I checked again and there it was!! Perhaps the link didn't work correctly the first time or perhaps it wasn't available yet when I checked, I don't know. Anyway now it IS available so, it doesn't matter. Thank you for pointing it out!!

  • 05:28 PM - Stormonu quoted KentDT in post Are we fair to WotC?
[QUOTE=Stormonu;6169565] WotC used to have catalogs that would tell you what was due out at least three months in advance, if not further. Do they still do articles of what's coming down the road or have they clammed up like Games Workshop (where you learn 3 days before they release new content, it seems)? [quote] I don't understand this. Right on WOTC's web site there's always been a link to their product catalog. Right now it has products up until the beginning of December listed (and has since around May, I think. Meaning that they generally announce 3-6 months prior to release.) Admittedly, this year has been rather scarce on the new D&D front but they have always had an easily accessible catalog, well in advance of actual release. I was responding to another person's statement who had stated they were only seeing new items via checking Amazon. I hadn't been to WotC's web site in some time, so I didn't know if they still had their future products listed. As you noted that they appar...
