Essess/Bredonshire/Bredon Seaday, Emperorweek, 2 Moon/12:03 PM Weather: Normal late summer temps, light wind, light rain Round 6 Coriana managed to get onto the balcony quietly, kneeling near the sleeping winged kobold. She looked into the large circular room with the strange round, ebony table and ebony chest. Two kobolds, one nearly completely white from whatever was afflicting the Chillscales, the other, crawling on the round table, also significantly marked by it, and large lizard creatures lounging around the edges of the room. Mindra wasn’t so quiet climbing up. She kicked a loose stone that scraped along the stone balcony. One of the lizard creatures stood up quickly, glaring out the window at Mindra and Coriana. It hissed in threat and warning. The kobolds looked up in surprise. “Intruders!” the female on the table hissed. “Engir! Kill them!” Player’s won initiative, so feel free to go ahead. ...through the roof, leaving a big hole. Only two pieces of furniture occupy the room: a table with a large wooden case sitting on it, and a huge, 20’ diameter black basalt table. A kobold in leather armor with a spear and shield, its scales nearly completely white, stands near the case. Another kobold, wearing robes and no armor and mottled with white scales, crawls along on the basalt table, making scratchings and notations on a parchment as it studies the arcane runes there. Occasionally it tries fitting a black sphere into one of the depressions. At various places around the room four large lizard creatures lounge around. Mindra and Coriana, make Stealth rolls. You need to beat a DC 14 or we start combat. I will need to get my map of the room from home made up. You recognize the shield and spear kobold as a dragonshield, elite kobold warriors. You recognize the robed kobold crawling around the table as a scale sorcerer. You recognize the lizard creatures as ambush drakes. There were enough broken pieces of the stone balustrade that she could find a place to drop the loop of rope around that should provide a decently secure hold for climbing. They manage to get the sleeping kobold pulled over the edge of the balcony. The kobold plummets to the ground, waking enough near the end to scream in panic before its screech of fear is suddenly cut off by a wet thud, leaving the kobold a bloody mess on the ground at the base of the tower. “Ooo!” Sayine hissed. “That had to hurt!” Does Liam want to do anything this round? @Charwoman Gene @Lord Twig @Steve Gorak @tglassy Combat Map: http://i67.tinypic.com/t6yo79.jpg Player Overview Map: http://i67.tinypic.com/161mgyd.jpg Coriana (+2) AC 15 24/24+5 thp PP 14 Liam (+2) AC 14 14/18 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Mindra (+4) AC 15 19/19 PP 18 Darkvision Theremin (+5) AC 15 13/19 PP 14 Darkvision Sayine (+2) AC 15 9/14 PP 13 Darkvision Spells (Yellow, 1/d): dancing lights, mage hand, minor illusion, color spray*, mirror image wk3 AC 13 7/7 40’ up (asleep, 7r) Survival: Marching Order: 5 kobolds, Mindra, Coriana, Theremin (Sayine), Liam Travel Pace: Normal Travel activity: Mindra (watch), Coriana (map), Liam (watch), Theremin (watch), Sayine (watch) Light: Daylight 300 gp Potion of Healing (Theremin)

Essess/Bredonshire/Bredon Seaday, Emperorweek, 2 Moon/12:03 PM Weather: Normal late summer temps, light wind, light rain Round 4 I will have Liam Dodge this round then and keep things moving. Sayine took the rope and fluttered up to the balcony where the sleeping winged kobold’s lay, peering inside the large, open windows as she secured the rope to the leg of one of the kobolds. Everyone is up again. @Charwoman Gene @Lord Twig @Steve Gorak @tglassy Combat Map: http://i66.tinypic.com/mn19qt.jpg Player Overview Map: http://i67.tinypic.com/161mgyd.jpg Coriana (+2) AC 15 24/24+5 thp PP 14 Liam (+2) AC 14 14/18 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Mindra (+4) AC 15 19/19 PP 18 Darkvision Theremin (+5) AC 15 13/19 PP 14 Darkvision Sayine (+2) AC 15 9/14 PP 13 Darkvision Spells (Yellow, 1/d): dancing lights, mage hand, minor illusion, color spray*, mirror image wk2 AC 13 7/7 40’ up (asleep, 7r) wk3 AC 13 7/7 40’ up (asleep, 7r) Survival: Marching Order: 5 kobolds, Mindra, Coriana, Theremin (Sayine), Liam Travel Pace: Normal Travel activity: Mindra (watch), Coriana (map), Liam (watch), Theremin (watch), Sayine (watch) Light: Daylight 300 gp Potion of Healing (Theremin)

Essess/Bredonshire/Bredon Seaday, Emperorweek, 2 Moon/12:03 PM Weather: Normal late summer temps, light wind, light rain Round 3 The kobold from the tower was still drooling from Sayine’s breath weapon when Coriana rushed up and ran it through the heart. Mindra finishes up the last kobold attacking Liam by stabbing it in the throat with her dagger, sending it gurgling into the grass. There don’t appear to be anymore kobolds conscious on the field. Sayine fluttered back to land on Theremin’s shoulder, turning visible again. We will stay in combat rounds since there are still the sleeping winged kobolds 40 feet above you on the balcony. They will wake up in 8 rounds. Theremin and Liam still to go this round. Liam stepped up and swung his staff at the kobold that had attacked him, but the wily creature ducked. Mindra finished off the kobold that had tried to shove her from her perch amid the rubble, staining the stones with blood. The kobold fighting Liam hissed as Theremin’s words sank into his brain, but he managed to shake it off. The invisible Sayine blew the green vapor of her breath into her kobold’s face again. The kobold got a dazed look in its eyes. It just stood there drooling The kobold fighting Liam hissed at its compatriot, trying to snap him out of the effect. Then he yanked out his dagger and drove it toward Liam’s stomach. Still squinting against the bright sunlight, it failed to pierce Liam’s armor. PLAYERS ARE UP FOR ROUND 3. ...greenish gas into the kobold’s face and then turned invisible. The kobold coughed, but seemed to fight off the effects of the gas. One of the kobolds rushed up, twirling its sling. It squinted against the bright sunlight and slung a stone at Liam, but the stone flew wide. The kobold that had been assaulted by Sayine swung blindly at the invisible faerie dragon with his dagger, missing completely. Another kobold rushed toward Liam, throwing a stone from its sling that missed the warlock. Seeing their compatriots attacking the heroes, the five bound kobolds try and scramble over the rubble to join the battle. All five take a nasty tumble that leaves them with cracked skulls at the base of the rubble, though one manages to make it with minor scrapes. That kobold attempts to shove Mindra into a tumble from the rubble. Mindra, you need to beat a 9 with either Athletics or Agility. If you fail, take 2 damage as you tumble from the rubble. Essess/Bredonshire/Bredon Seaday, Emperorweek, 2 Moon/12:03 PM Weather: Normal late summer temps, light wind, light rain Round 1 The urds mantled their wings and shuffled their feet at Coriana’s forceful words. They huddled together, whispering in Draconic for a moment before one of them fluttered tentatively to one of the large windows cut in the stone wall of the top floor of the tower. The other urds shuffled nervously in the light rain, and then there were angry shouts and a gout of fire erupted from the window. The third urd returned, looking a little singed, but not injured. “Kill them!” he yelled down to the kobolds on the ground below as he reached for a large piece of rubble. One of them gives a yelp of warning as they glare down at the adventurers from their perch, reaching for what looks like heavy stones from a pile gathered nearby, but they make no move to attack yet. The party can see a third winged kobold come flapping over the roof of the tower in response to the yelp. “Wagon ours. We find!” one of the kobolds barked down. “This Chillscale tower! You no belong here!” it said warningly in broken Common. “Where other kobolds?” You can tell that the small book is mostly a ledger. I hope that Alhana and Lorenn have been quiet because they are happy to follow along for this last little while and not because I have lost the intetest of Charwoman Gene and Fradak in this game! (Please let me know!) I know that I have been reacting to the posts of the frequent posting players but it is not because I don't value your input - quite the opposite. It's that I assume that an infrequent poster is either 1: busy or 2: waiting for me to move on to something they find more interesting. In this case I assume that a nice combat would be that thing. So far we have managed to skip 3 potential combats in a row. I don't expect this to be a low-combat game, but so far it has worked out looking that way. If you are waiting, hang in there. If I've lost your interest, on the other hand, I am sorry for it.

I think part of the reason I can't tell is because there isn't that sort of feedback you could get in a face to face environment - those clues from facial expressions, tone of voice etc. Like my last post - is it good because I'm giving Charwoman Gene an opening to play along, or is it bad because I'm dragging them into something? I don't know anymore :/

Essess/Bredonshire/Bredon Seaday, Emperorweek, 2 Moon/11:44 AM Weather: Normal late summer temps, light wind, light rain Round 0 The kobold peered at the wagon and shrugged. “Is wagon,” he said. “Someone leave it there. Was like that when Chillscale find it.” He paused. “We maybe took some things.” Coriana checked out the wagon. It was large, but more or less intact. It had definitely been tossed. A few non-valuable bits and pieces of detritus lay strewn about the grass, and a couple of the baseboards had been pulled up. As Coriana poked around, she found a small, hidden latch on the foot of the box seat. It allowed her to remove the front of the box, revealing a hidden compartment containing a small wooden strongbox that was locked. ...er: Normal late summer temps, light wind, light rain Round 0 With five disarmed kobolds, the party continued their travel. The kobolds seemed nervous about using the road, so the party stuck to the tall grass a few dozen feet off while following the Oakenmire Road. After an hour, the tall, dilapidated tower rose in the distance from hills to the north of the road. The tower is battered but still standing. A 30’ wall stands around the tower, broken through and rubble-filled in places, battered and leaning but still standing in others. A track from the road leads up to the broken, leaning gates of the wall. On the north side of the road, shoved into a runoff gulch in a hill, is a wagon. Great timbers, soft with age and rot, lie scattered in the tall grasses south of the road. Odd piles of large stones lie here and there. A large, metal arrow bigger than a man lies rusting in the black soil. These are the remains of siege equipment left abandoned and decaying for decades. D&D uses imperial tons. D&D coins are 50 per pound. 10 tons copper = 20,000 pounds = 1,000,000 cp = 10,000 gp so exactly enough. Throw in some good haggling and we acheive profit. After traveling through a thief infested city with 10,000 gp.Those are some big coins! Although I do remember that value now that you mention it... did it change in 5e?

Skill modifier = ability modifier + proficiency modifier + circumstance bonus + conditional bonus + item bonus + circumstance penalty + conditional penalty + item penalty + untyped penalties Just found out the important part of this, pg 292. Multiple item, circumstance, and conditions bonuses do no stack. You only take the best one of each. The penalties do not stack either you have at most one circumstance bonus and one circumstance penalty, one condition bonus and one condition penalty, and one item bonus and one item penalty. That's interesting.

"I fail to see why we shouldn't just charge right up through the open gates to the stock yard." "Because we don't want to wallow in mud with pigs? But I agree in general, we shouldn't really wait for them to find us. This is obviously new building and it serves some purpose for them. We destroy it. Kill as many as we can. And when the rest come running toward the smoke, we go around and scout deeper into their territory. And we can pick up stragglers as we return. What can go wrong?" Ordrar smiles hefting his hammer.

She could be fairly local. Her homeland is kinda not specified, so I suppose she could come from some local elven society.I see. Please feel free to read my and Fradak 's backgrounds. You could be somehow related, or have an opinion, on either character - elven matters and all that jazz :) Edit: even tglassy has elven connections

So I've been thinking and so far my brain seems to have latched onto very few ideas. One is a freedom loving outcast Githyanki Eldritch Knight. I keep coming back to this one. The idea that a race freed from slavery would adopt a rigid lawful evil society is odd to me, and I like the idea of this devil-may-care chaotic good almost swashbuckling warrior coming out of the horrors of a caste system. You'll be in good company :)

Cori will navigate and map. She wants to stay in the first one or two people. Technically those are two different things. Navigation will be fairly easy if you follow the road, so you can map. Unless you're not following the road.
