Charwoman Gene You expressed some interest in playing. Any ideas for what you'd like to bring in? It looks like we have (in No Order) Sesto, Human Cleric of Lathander (Prickly Pear) Lorenn, Half-Elf Bladesinger/Rogue (Fradak) Zander, Human Fighter (EarlyBird) Unnamed, Human Mystic (tglassy) - I think you should call him "Primus" Malbung, Half Elf Bard/Hexblade (Ancalagon) Mord, Aasamar Warlock (gargoyleking) Windspeaker, Goliath Paladin (hbarsquared) ... is that right, everyone?

...ilt centuries ago by Eobald the Mad, the younger brother of the Count of Oldhold, and a wizard of some renown. No one knows what happened to the Mad Mage, and the tower was abandoned for a long time until the war. Sir Ledet garrisoned the tower against an advancing Arideen army. He put his mage friend Ebrehem Caravon and his apprentice Iarno Albarek in charge of the tower, along with a company of elves from Fairrest led by Silvor Dawnwhisper, while Sir Ledet went north into the Ravenswood to deal with an advancing Helveki army. The Arideen army besieged the tower. It is evident from the site that they breached the walls and invaded the tower, but no one knows what happened to the army or the garrison. Everyone seemed to have just...vanished. Reeve Bine doesn’t want anyone stirring up old ghosts to threaten Bredon, and so forbids us from disturbing the tower. There have been increased reports of bandit activity, though. Perhaps that is what happened to Mached, if that is his wagon.” Charwoman Gene Lord Twig Steve Gorak tglassy https://drive.google.com/open?id=16S74xUTdEk9Dk91CPQ1ebvU7SZ-vWtuY Coriana (+2) AC 15 15/15 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Liam (+2) AC 14 18/18 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Mindra (+4) AC 15 19/19 PP 18 Darkvision Theremin (+5) AC 15 19/19 PP 14 Darkvision Sayine (+2) AC 15 14/14 PP 11 Darkvision Initiative: Player Average: Enemy Average: Survival: Marching Order: Mindra, Liam, Theremin (Sayine), Coriana Travel Pace: Travel activity: Light: Daylight

Noticing that some of the group has wandered to separate corners (Tassarion) or tries to disappear into the crowd(Lorelei), he speaks up. 98357 "Gather round, gather round." the cleric says not wishing to lose the attention of the group yet. "We still have much to discuss before we can turn our attention to food and merriment." As he speaks he draws forth a map and starts to spread it across the central table. Just a roll call for the rest of the company to post their characters are gathering around. Skarsgard Charwoman Gene TallIan tglassy

Essess/Bredonshire/Bredon Seaday, Emperorweek, 2 Moon/7:10 AM Weather: Normal fall temps, light wind, light rain Round 0 As Mindra approached the guard barracks, she was challenged by the militiaman on duty at the gate of the reeve’s compound atop the hill, the highest point in town and surrounded by a wooden palisade wall. After a runner was sent and returned, Mindra was escorted to the guard barracks. Several of the guards were leaving the common room for their assignments following briefing, and Alene was found in her office in the back. The half elf sergeant smiled up at Mindra and rose from her seat behind her desk. “It’s good to see you again, Mindra,” she said, closing the office door so she could give the half elf rogue a kiss in private without gawking subordinates. “Is there something you need?” Charwoman Gene Lord Twig Steve Gorak tglassy https://drive.google.com/open?id=16S74xUTdEk9Dk91CPQ1ebvU7SZ-vWtuY Coriana (+2) AC 15 15/15 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Liam (+2) AC 14 18/18 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Mindra (+4) AC 15 19/19 PP 18 Darkvision Theremin (+5) AC 15 19/19 PP 14 Darkvision Sayine (+2) AC 15 14/14 PP 11 Darkvision Initiative: Player Average: Enemy Average: Survival: Marching Order: Mindra, Liam, Theremin (Sayine), Coriana Travel Pace: Travel activity: Light: Daylight

"How rude," the thin man says as he tsk'ed at the spilled wine. "And what a waste." As the group approaches the tent a trio of armed men stand before them. "Stop there Mistwalkers. You must be announced before you can be granted an audience with Madam Eva." Another (with his hand on his hilt), adds. "And you cannot be armed." Might need your help Charwoman Gene or at least Wagner's to diffusion the upcoming situation as this is a very low CHA group.

Essess/Bredonshire/Bredon Seaday, Emperorweek, 2 Moon/7:05 AM Weather: Normal fall temps, light wind, light rain Round 0 Ideli looked about to argue. It was in her nature as a merchant to haggle. But then she seemed to be very concerned about her friend and fellow merchant. “Two hundred is acceptable,” she said. She reached into her coat and pulled out a scroll case, extracting two scrolls. “This is what I have on hand,” she said, unfurling them and laying them flat. To those who could read magic, one was a spell that made someone friendly, but only for a short while. The other was a ritual that could detect poison and disease. Scroll of Friends (cantrip) and scroll of Detect Poison and Disease (Ritual, 1st level) “I hope this is acceptable,” Ideli said hopefully. She nearly fumbled her cup, sloshing a bit of toddy onto the table. “Sorry,” the half-elf smiled, a bit embarrassed, as she cleaned up with a handkerchief from her pocket. “Anyway, I was supposed to meet a friend of mine here in Bredon, a fellow merchant from out of Oakenmire named Mached Pakelan. He should have been here by now, for a few days, even. But he isn’t in town. There have been reports of banditry on the roads recently. One of the farmers east of here reported seeing an overturned wagon along the road near the old abandoned tower overlooking the road. I talked with Sergeant Belyr, but she said she’s been instructed to stay clear of the tower. There have been rumors of lights at the top of it on some nights, and folk have always been afraid of the place since the war. I’m just a merchant, not an adventurer, so I was wondering if I could hire you to check this out, look around for what might have happened to Mached, if that is his wagon.” Charwoman Gene Lord Twig Steve Gorak tglassy https://drive.google.com/open?id=16S74xUTdEk9Dk91CPQ1ebvU7SZ-vWtuY Coriana (+2) AC 15 15/15 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Liam (+2) AC 14 18/18 PP 14 Devil’s Sight Mindra (+4) AC 15 19/19 PP 18 Darkvision Theremin (+5) AC 15 19/19 PP 14 Darkvision Sayine (+2) AC 15 14/14 PP 11 Darkvision Initiative: Player Average: Enemy Average: Survival: Marching Order: Mindra, Liam, Theremin (Sayine), Coriana Travel Pace: Travel activity: Light: Daylight 80 gp (Coriana) 1500 sp (Coriana) 2300 cp (Coriana) Eversmoking Bottle (Liam) 8 doses of essence of dreamlily (Mindra) Chalcedony necklace (2 stones)(Mindra) Chrysophase (green gem)(50 gp)(Coriana)

And new gods? Why wouldn’t they walk the land like Paladine did?” She paused. “Well, mostly he sat up on his throne, I suppose. But then talking religion is bad for business,” she said with a charming grin. “I’m a practical woman. I pray to whoever helps me put coin in my purse.” She pushed off from the bar and approached the table. She jumped a bit, nearly tripping, as Sayine fluttered into the room, landing on Theremin’s shoulders. The merchant looked startled for a moment. “Ideli Nysonn,” she introduced herself, extending a hand with long, delicate fingers. “Stump told me about what you folks did for Irene. "I'm really at a loss as to what comes next. I don't think the crone is showing. But why did she assemble us here? To rescue a girl from some goblins? Smells like last week's catch," Coriana said. At the bar, the merchant woman near Liam chuckled. “The Crone? They say her ways are inscrutable, that she is wise beyond knowing. Seldom are her methods clear. Or maybe she just likes toying with mortals.” She sipped her drink. “Please don’t tell Sister Taicha I’ve been blaspheming again,” she said with a chuckle, looking over the quartet. She paid little mind to the few other patrons there were, most of whom were already finishing and heading out to the day’s work. “You lot look a bit touched by Avandra. ... thinking back to the one novel I read that had someone severely addicted, I can certainly see that as a byproduct. But Liam is right, it’s very addictive. Fun fact, Bayar, the German company famous as the “inventor” of aspirin, was also the inventor of heroin, and actually shelved development of aspirin for a time when they discovered and marketed heroin as a “safer” alternative to addictive codeine, marketing it as non-addictive. It was hugely popular, though within a year, the addictive properties became obvious. Mindra was a bit too far away to get a really good look at the box. It seemed highly decorated with paint. Torban set it on the bar next to his slate as he got the merchant half-elf her hot toddy. The bald half-elf merchant Torban had referred to as Ideli turned, cupping her hot toddy in her long fingers, and studied the group bent over and whispering at the table. Torban came over to the group’s table. “Breakfast? Drinks?” he asked Theremin, Liam, and Coriana. ...y he put a number in one of the boxes on the slate. Moments later, the door pushed open and the muddy, colorfully clad merchant entered. They stumbled as their foot caught on the first step, but managed to right themselves without face planting again. The merchant went over to the bar. “Torban! I got you a little something,” the merchant said, a female voice. She slid a box to him. It was decoratively painted, and Torban grinned as he turned it over, studying it. The merchant winked. “Hopefully that’s enough for my stay,” she said. She swept off her muddy cloak and broad hat, revealing an attractive half-elven woman with a bald head, black eyes, and a pale Arideen complexion. She grabbed one of Torban’s towels and tried to clean herself up a bit. “Tea, with a bit of rum, if you would, Torban,” she ordered. “It isn’t that cold, but that rain is a bit chilly.” “Coming right up, Ideli,” Torban said, reluctantly putting aside his strange new box and preparing the hot toddy. ...of the chilly morning air, and a female half elf pulled down the hood of her cloak. Her head was bald, her ears the typical slighter points of the half-breed. Keen black eyes looked around the tavern with interest from a pale Arideen face. The few patrons in the common room that morning gave her greetings, which she returned. They seemed to know her, though Mindra hadn’t seen her before. The half-elf’s gaze fell on Mindra and she raised an eyebrow in interest before flashing a smile. “Morning, stranger,” she greeted. “Torban! I need something to warm me up!” she called, moving up to the bar. She stumbled slightly as she seemed to trip over her own feet. Torban emerged from the kitchen. He placed a full plate of eggs, bacon, sausage, and flatbread in front of Mindra. “Breakfast, too?” Torban asked the newcomer as he whipped up a pair of hot tea with rum and honey for Mindra and the half-elf. “Just some of that bread with honey, love,” the half-elf said, flashing a smile. Should I shut this down? Open up recruitment? Seems there's only two of you left. SunGold hasn't logged in all year. eayres33 hasn't logged in two weeks. I admit I didn't really start this game with a bang. But it should be getting to the interesting bits about now but I don't think it works with just Everett and Perin. If there is any more room and you are starting in august I'd be interested. Okay! Hey, for a little while back in the beginning, you were gonna play Vault, but had to back out. So.. that's full for sure now.

Interested, though race variants are the sticking point. Maybe make a merfolk race that is a variant human with a "feat" of water breathing and a swim speed and pressure immunity In my opinion, that is what the Water Genasi are. They don’t have pressure immunity, that’s reserved for Triton, but not every fish is immune to great pressure. Just being able to breath water will alleviate the problems with pressure to a certain point. Once they go deep enough, they’ll have issues, but I’d like that to be a trait To make Triton more appealing in this case. After all, if I added a Feat of Water Breathing for Variant Human, what are you getting over just choosing a Water Genasi? One less ability point, and a skill instead of magic? I suppose you can put your ability points where you want them, but seeing as Constituents would be the score to help with deep sea exploration, Genasi are really better anyway. The point of Human Variant is to get a free feat, and this would waste that. And I don’t see wh...

Six or seven makes almost no difference. And I was jazzed about the Tortle Wizard. Tortle Druid is still cool, but if you were at all reluctant to switch... Would Steve Gorak want to switch back to Wizard if JustinCase joined with his healbot aasimar divine soul sorcerer? Sure! I was thinking of the party when I proposed the druid. I also really liked the concept of a tortle wizard, and even better if the DM is jazzed with the concept! ;-) Cheers, SG

I'm generally against magic item buying, but if you want to buy something, here are your options. Readily Available Consumables: Potions of Healing (2d4+2): 50gp Potions of Greater Healing (4d4+4): 100gp Spell Scroll: Cantrip 30gp Spell Scroll: Level 1 50gp Spell Scroll: Level 2 125gp Spell Scroll: Level 3 300gp Other Common Potions: 75gp Uncommon Consumables: 150gp Common Permanent Items: 100gp Thank you for this! Question for my wizard: what is the cost of spells for copying them in his spellbook? It costs 50 gp per spell level to copy to the spellbook, but how much would it cost to get the spell (not the scroll, just the opportunity to copy the spell)? Is it ok to assume that friendly wizards/mentors/wizard academies would allow this free of charge, with the limiting factor being the cost to copy? Alternatively, would my character need to buy and resell scrolls, and I would assume a 25% cost of the scroll value (scroll purchased at 100% of price, sold at 75%). Thanks and cheers,...

Steve Gorak Skarsgard Still room enough for you. Soft closing at this point. Awesome, thanks! I'm looking at a Tortle wizard. Backstory: A trader sold an egg to a wizard [or other, as appropriate for a hook], claiming that a humanoid from the New World was inside, and wouldnt you know it, it was him! He grew up, always yearning to meet his own kind. When he heard of the expedition, there was no doubt in his mind that he would go. Note that I am hesitating between wizard and knowledge cleric. I like the double expertise in arcana and history from knowledge cleric, but pehaps the higher int from wizard makes up for it. Ok? Cheers, SG

Mike291 - Indiana Jones Bard tglassy - Water Genasi Monk / Kensai hero4hire - Dwarf Pirate KahlessNestor - Halfling Rogue Oh, I'd love to join. I've been wanting to try a Scout/warlock character for a while, but don't want to step on KahlessNestor's toes. Perhaps a wizard or divine caster, no one seems to have claimed those roles? Cheers, SG

ADVENTURE SEEKERS WANTED! Now seeking a few brave souls to cross the ocean in pursuit of Fame, Knowledge and GOLD! Captain Tyrlius Faroshi is seeking a few brave souls to join him in his pursuit of the legendary treasures of the New World. Long thought to be a myth, the existence of another continent far to the west has sparked much speculation throughout the city of Haven. With the nations of this continent just starting to recover from a major war, the Council of Peace in Haven is helping to sponsor the expedition, under the hope that a new world to explore might help aid the peace process in the old. If you are interested, meet him at the “Shalimyr’s Embrace”, near the docks, on Stormblessed Eve. [Stormblessed is the 4th month of the Council Year, Stormblessed Eve is a special holiday between the 3rd and 4th months.] Character creation: I’m looking for 4-6 5th level characters who have an interest in exploring a new continent. If more than 6 people are interested I reserve the right to pic...

Is Duran still furry at this point I would assume not off the top of my head i think it only lasts a hour or so. No he would not be. Wild shape does only last an hour. I think Red Larch is where we thought there were cult spies, so I don't think there. Another option would be to cut across country to Westbridge, how large a town is that? You have confirmed there is a spy in Red Larch that reports to the cult in Riverguard. Westbridge is comparable in size to Beliard. Getting there would be very hard going though the hills without roads, but would certainly offer the best safety, it is unlikely that the cult would have thought it somewhere you would try and flee to. "Didn't the captives come from Red Larch originally? You were asked by Harbuk in Red Larch to help find the missing delegation from Mirabar. Two of the escapees are from that delegation but most of the captives are from homesteads in the area. As the group pauses to catch their breath Erol sneaks off back along the trail that y...

Wisdom save DC 14: 1D20+2 = [7]+2 = 9 Frightened only imposes disadvantage when the source is within line of sight. If I'm facing the majordomo, do I have disadvantage on attacks on the majordomo? Typically facing isn't a thing, so doesn't matter. If there isn't something visibly blocking line of sight, you're considered to be actively keeping an eye around you, especially in combat. Unless the DM rules otherwise (like guards and such), but that is usually out of combat.

KahlessNestor You seemed to only have spent 26 points on point buy according to my formulas. D&D Beyond has the full 27 PB used, and I redid the math. I did forget the +1 non-racial ability score bump you gave us for character creation. Also forgot magic items and shopping. Just took the starting package. Need to redo that and go shopping instead.

Oof. I forgot about GoOP/HoI. Those are kinda game breaking if you are allowed to design your build around them. I hate being that DM but, I'm going to have to ban GoOP and HoI as starter items. They are just too optimizable. It's one thing to come across them randomly, but when making a "build" they are just too good. If you REALLY want strength boosting Gauntlets, I'll allow Gauntlets of Bugbear Power, +2 Strength, Max 17 Strength. Also, not that I really care, but if you are researching enough about the dwarves of Mirabar to worry about the last name, you'd also need to account for his family not being native to Mirabar. The dwarves of Mirabar, and the rest of the Sword Coast are mountain dwarves. Hill dwarves hail from the south. Just an FYI if lore matters to you. As for HP, I apologize for not being clear, level 1 is Max hp. OK. I'll have to change things around a bit, but will just make some adjustments and go with the Gauntlets of Bubbear Strength to keep the build in mi...

Toes. But realistically, my solution is a minor rebuild, as those toes are already stepped on. 1) Swap feats. Drop Skilled, pickup Prodigy(Xanathar's Guide). I lose Persuasion and Stealth, pickup "Expertise" in Intimidation, Vehicles(water) proficiency, and Primordial. I officially am the "bad cop". 2) Unrelated, but swapping Strength 14 and Con 12 to Strength 12 and Con 14 would aid my survivabilty so much. I would allow this, sure. With two warlocks and a bard, you pretty much have a party of faces LOL

I lose Persuasion and Stealth, pickup "Expertise" in Intimidation, a tool proficiency, and Primordial. I officially am the "bad cop". 2) Unrelated, but swapping Strength 14 and Con 12 to Strength 12 and Con 14 would aid my survivabilty so much. Oh, I like this. first we try to entice them with sugar, and if that doesn't work, it's the threat of a baseball bat, before the actual baseball bat! BTW, thanks for the feedback! On an another note, he gets a bonus 3 skills at level 3 (first time playing a bard, these guys are real skillmonkeys!), and will likely pick up survival, investigation and acrobatics (I'll leave intimidation to you Charwoman Gene) Cheers, SG

Ahem. LOL Sorry! When I said front line fighter, I meant someone in heavy armor like a fighter, cleric, or paladin, or damage reduction like a barbarian. No offense meant to Corianna :)
