I'm tempted to add another voice whom the announcer will occasionally talk to and that may only speak in some arcane language. "Wow, they're really burning through that healing. It may sustain them now, but they could be setting themselves up for failure later. How do you think that strategy is going to play out for them, Glorb?" "Dughk Raam ien tkthu. Choar fooch tuk Mauag dorfre jka jka oop shallak. Ungk toor fuul khror malack." "That's right, they are. They gotta hope there are no creatures with petrification down the line. Now back to the action ..." Mandatory research: The announcers in Best in Show. https://youtu.be/yeifMjqpsg0

  • 01:48 AM - DM Howard quoted doctheweasel in post Pathfinder 2E At Gary Con
They likely need that time to line up the printing/distribution. If they were to release the pdf now (assuming it's 100% ready for prime time which is unlikely) the printed version would come out behind 5 months of existing feedback, and basically be out of date the minute it hit shelves. I guess that is kind of my point. Do they really NEED to release printed playtest books? No, they WANT to do so to ensure a little double-dipping for Pathfinder 2E adopters. I'm not begrudging them money, but it is clear as day that they are delaying the PDF release to build up anticipation to pre-order. A playtest no less.

$45 for all the pdfs from this kickstarter, and pdfs for the core book and 9 supplements from the last one. Damn that's a deal. Why, oh why did you have to say that!?!? Now I'm backed at $45 and I'm ogling the $250 pledge with all the pdfs of 1st and 2nd edition (not ten as in the $45 pledge), plus a bunch of goodies...

Is there supposed to be a point or call to action in there somewhere, or was it meant to just be a hot take with no substance? It's an opinion piece intended to start a discussion. If you're not interested, there are thousands of other threads here you can read instead.

People complain when you can't buy pdfs for D&D. Then they deliver something with more functionality than pdfs, and people complain about the price. Well, a car has more functionality than PDFs. Doesnít change the fact that they wanted PDFs. Personally, I canít use gaming PDFs. I need the books.

This is the first entry that I read and thought, "I want to play that." I would include the latest incarnation of the beast master ranger, but I agree. I would also like to see the inclusion of a "golem" based subclass and I think the alchemical subclass needs more formula options, but I will probably ask my DM to run this in our next campaign.

I don't understand why there would be a bunch of character options. If the conceit is that the characters are drawn into Barovia from outside, then those options would all be non-Ravenloft stuff. That's my thought as well. Doesn't make sense to have Barovian backgrounds. But the one released had some great ideas that would help instill the mood that you are after. I would love a bunch of 'damaged' backgrounds so I could send a party of jelly legged, mentally disturbed, bed wetters through the mists. I was holding off on character creation Untill I saw the rest of the backgrounds available. But now I think we can push ahead and start making a bunch of girlishly squealing nervous nellys.

Just weird that they would offer two categories like that when they bundle up other games. Does it matter? Anywhere they subdivide is better, as that provides more detail. Those two categories are much more informative than the one giant smooshed Star Wars category is. Or one giant smooshed D&D category would be. You can add subdivisions together, but you can't split up combined categories. Subdivision FTW!

Why is Dungeon World separated from "Apocalypse World System" Games? It seems like an arbitrary split that puts both entries further down the list. It's what gamers self selected, I assume. You can add the numbers together if you want. The data is there for you to do what you want with.
