Eeeeep! Did they end up encountering Ekossigan in the complex later? Yes, he was staggering towards them, with a piece of Quital shrapnel imbedded in his face, crying out for his defeated minions and being harried by Obscurati assassins. I feel like one of those threads is bound to end in failure - terrorists cause a lot of murder, Ekossigan kills a lot of orphans, or the B-Team are all brutally murdered / mutilated by Kell. Absolutely. Better that way. I have a large group so I upped the ante and added a quest to find one of the bronze golem's eyes to bypass Ob security. (A quest mentioned in the campaign guide but later cut from the story for space reasons, I'm guessing.)

  • 10:50 PM - Mort quoted Karma Kollapse in post [RPG] Gm question: New players dropping from sessions.
Would like to know how other GMs handle this kind of thing. - Karma. I tend to be very forgiving of work/life conflicts - especially if my player provide notice. What I despise is simply not showing up - there's just no excuse for not providing some kind of "can't make it" in this day and age. Fortunately, my players know this and everyone is quite communicative. What I find interesting, is the ones with the most commitments are much less likely to cancel. My player with a high stress-high hours job, a wife that travels internationally most of the month AND triplets hasn't missed a session except absolute emergencies. The non-married, no kids and a fairly low key job - player - I basically treat him as a guest star because 3 out of 4 sessions he'll cancel at or near the last minute. But since I know this and can plan for it, it's no big deal. Seems like the problem in the OPs case is there hasn't been any patterns or trust established with the new players. IF they're friends -talk to...

  • 04:41 PM - SanjMerchant quoted Karma Kollapse in post Flint: Real World Parallels?
I had assumed, since Risur seemed like Brazil in terms of climate and culture, that Flint was Rio... but are there any other similarities? Anything worth reading up on about Rio to give Flint more flavour? Admittedly, given that it's home to the (presumably English-speaking) players and that the place names are all English words (Flint, Shale, Cauldron Hill, the Nettles, Bosum Strand, etc.), I've always defaulted to thinking of it is England and/or the United States, to the point that it's easy to forget that it's not a temperate climate. Especially since Ber has the whole Iberian thing covered (though obviously the language there is Spanish, not Portuguese). Still, I suppose it's worth remembering that Risur is fairly close to Ber (a sort of hot desert plain type place) and Elfaivar (which is just straight up India). If one insists on a United States model for Flint, New Orleans would be a good go-to; they've got bayous and everything! I will now try very hard not to overthink the combi...

  • 01:08 PM - gideonpepys quoted Karma Kollapse in post Twin Peaks
We're currently playing through the second adventure, and everytime the references to Twin Peaks get a bit too overt (like Dale, his thesis, the red curtain scene... Nevard's vision of a woman in a room who talks weirdly...) I sigh to myself before I reveal. :D Of course, watching the new series, I'm now seeing (presumably unintentional) references to Zeitgeist ... Where is the red curtain scene? I missed all these nods, to my shame, but I at least recognise all the others.
