  • 11:08 PM - Tony Vargas quoted JediMasterGunner in post Fighter Weapon Training Advice: Is there a Heavy Blade with Reach?
Thanks, what I am looking for is something where I can mechanically use a Heavy Blade for reach and then switch to the Katana up close. I somehow missed that PF used the 'Heavy'/'Light' Blade distinction. I'm familiar with it from 4e, in which a Glaive is a Heavy Blade with reach. (Is the Glaive missing, or somehow not 'heavy' in your campaign?) A fighter in my old group's c2009 campaign used a glaive re-skinned as a Naginata and a greatsword re-skinned as a No-dachi (or however you spell each of those). Mostly the latter, though, as reach wasn't quite the advantage in 4e as in 3.x/PF. FWIW.

  • 02:11 AM - easl quoted JediMasterGunner in post Psychic career exploits costs and adding targets for Star Knight's Psychic Push?
If I wanted to allow modifying psychic powers like the Magic system, do you have any thoughts on cost since characters have more PP per Psi Attribute than MP per Magic Attribute? Maybe 3x the MP modifier cost to a spell to change a Psionic Power would be simple to do on the fly. It's worth remembering that, unless the exploit says otherwise, a psionic exploit costs power points to use equal to (at least) the PSI value required to purchase it. Thus some exploit that says "requires PSI 10" costs 10 PP to use. No thoughts on a 'system' approach for adding new psionic powers, but for the specific effect you want (pushing a bunch of people away at once), several psionic abilities seem to provide some reasonable guidance on how to fashion it. Pyrokinetic Burst affects everyone within a 5' range of the target and could easily serve as a template for a concussive/push power instead of a damage power (maybe instead of 1d6 damage per 2 PP, the push power gives you 1d6 effective strength per 2 PP or something l...

Thanks, that is good to know. You mean to power magic spells from OLD with psionic points from NEW? Or am I misunderstanding the question?

Right. For me, the JJA series is the Alternate Universe and the EU is the real Star Wars. There is great content there that I seriously doubt will be matched by the new movies. That's my plan, too. There are decades worth of material from the EU that can be used in a campaign. The JJA adaptation is probably not going to include most of the more interesting things that I like to explore in campaigns, like the other Force traditions (beyond the Sith). I'm sure I'll end up watching the movies, but I won't incorporate them into my campaigns unless they have some seriously interesting ideas, which they probably won't.

Please share it! I am thinking of doing a similar very-light TF one shot. I'm putting the finishing touches on the system right now. I've got it just about rounded out to 10 pages with ~5000 words. It mostly needs some spiffy formatting. Both of which my wife will be doing for me when she has a chance. I would expect to have it in a beta stage later this week along with a character sheet.

  • 12:08 AM - Elf Witch quoted JediMasterGunner in post When to allow players to change out characters
Roll with this, as a way to make a new character. Do the characters know that their abilities have changed? Maybe your caster, with insight into the strange mysteries of the universes, remembers the way things used to be and can't live with it. This leads to erratic behavior as caution is thrown to the wind. Death, and a replacement character, are then inevitable. Unless he doesn't let PCs die, which is another problem. I don't think it ever actually happened in my games, but if a player wanted to change PC, I'd let her do so freely. I don't DM to provide enjoyment for the players, I DM to provide enjoyment for myself and my friends. I don't put myself before them but I don't put them before myself. That said, I really believe that my plans are not so important that they cannot be changed. As a matter of fact, my "plans" are normally about the playstyle, the campaign themes and flavor, and sometimes a few key ideas that can be either narrative or functional. My "plans" are not...
