Either way, I'm excited to see what new releases are eventually planned. David Larkins gave some notice on this, and the plans include some more supplements for King Arthur Pendragon, including a Book of Magic which will set up an alternative game premise playing magicians. There will also be follow on games, based on Pendragon rules but in different eras. Paladin will be released possibly as soon as January 2019, but we should also see Mymidon (Greek warriors), Samurai and who knows what then..

There's no justification for ret-conning ongoing, real world atrocities in your game. It's not ret-conning. Ret-conning means changing a fictional story in a way that breaks continuity. What White Wolf did was to interpret real life events through the lens of a fictional world, specifically as seen by a particular fictional character, as a form of metaphor. It's an important distinction. I let slide other comments you make, although I'm beginning to find the term 'tone deaf' as vapid as 'sjw' or 'politically correct' these days, I have to say.

This would truly be the best of both worlds (pun unashamedly intended). Ah - thanks for that. I thought it was going to be PDF only for some reason. That's an insta-buy then. The book is in PDF as a playtest. They have said the plan is to enable Print on Demand as an option when the crunch rules are finalized, and have talked about doing a full Hardcover book repeating the UA crunch, but with other fluff.

It's a shame the Wayfarer's Guide to Eberron didn't get the full dead-tree treatment as it would be a useful measure of demand for some of the existing non-FR settings. Wayfarer's Guide to Eberron will get the dead tree treatment... when they're done. They released it digitally in Beta form as an experiment, and will continue to tweak that until they're happy, at which time content will be locked and go to presses

I'm not sure how to read that. In context, it seems he's talking about releasing sourcebooks for classic and new MTG worlds, rather than say Greyhawk or Dark Sun. Personally, I'm not particularly interested in any MTG sourcebooks as the lore doesn't appeal (and I say that as a long time on-off Magic player), so hope we see SCAG equivalents for some of the classic D&D worlds. It's a shame the Wayfarer's Guide to Eberron didn't get the full dead-tree treatment as it would be a useful measure of demand for some of the existing non-FR settings. Minor grumblings aside, this is very positive news for the hobby. I still can't believe the swell in popularity D&D has experienced under 5th Edition. Long may it continue! The most natural way to read it is that it means old Magic settings AND old D&D settings, and new to both settings. At the very least, this means they are thinking and talking about these options extensively if it spills over from the Prez in a fluff piece.

  • 11:35 PM - Morrus quoted Badvoc in post UK Games Expo Now World's 3rd Largest Tabletop Gaming Convention
Grabbing rooms on-site is becoming very difficult / expensive now and there's no way for the organisers to magic up more space on that front. As great as the Expo is, I wouldn't consider spending the full three days there if we couldn't book a hotel within a 5-10 min walk of the venues. Having young kids in tow means I need the option of a quick retreat when they start to get tired! I was several miles out. And the Take That concert on Sat night meant I had to walk about a mile to get my taxi due to the police exclusion zone.
