Sensing that the Goblin will only keep his word until he is out-of-sight, Sphynx pulls off a masterful bluff. The two Goblins who are aware enough to react to it end up falling for it, hook, line, and sinker. Goblins Sense Motive roll: 14, 6 (both fail.) Yeah, that may be too much. But aasimar can blend in, I guess. Kinda set my sights on that. Not sure what class yet, but I’m thinking either drunken master monk, druid, or some sort of caster.

You could be very right about that. I like 5e better; it’s simpler and easier to explain to newbies (and I play with newbies often). But also it feels, on average, more balanced than the edition that ended with “use the book of nine swords or be hopelessly outclassed”.

Alright, thanks! I saw the story beats and I'll see if I can read some of the IC thread. A prisoner seems like a very good point of introduction. In your RG you say you prefer "core" races but accept 1-2 outliers. Are aasimar or eladrin possible? Or (not sure if they feature in your world) "exotic" subraces such as drow, duergar or shadar-kai? Just asking so I know if I should even consider...

I'm interested in that open spot if it's still open. If I read correctly, you've got a halfling ranger, an elf wizard, a dragonborn paladin, a human cleric, and a centaur fighter, right? (Edit: That is one more than the 4 mentioned above. Which dropped out?) Would you guys prefer a specific niche for me to play?

Interesting that 4e seems to be (slightly) in the lead in the poll. It's not my cup of tea; I was certain that 3.x would far outpace the others. My own vote is 3.5 although I'm almost completely over to 5e these days. I started with 2e and it was fun, but I thought 3.5 was more user-friendly (BAB versus THAC0!). Of course, it was also the edition with the most...

Or am I missing something?

Okay, looks like we at least have Mike291, EarlyBird, and JustinCase. CHairwomanGene, are you still up? I'm not privy to the original adventure planned, but I will take it in a similar direction. I don't have any maps, so everything will be primarily TotM. Feel free to ask questions, but also feel free to sensibly add elements to the environment. I'll try for multiple posts a week, whether everyone has posted or not. Thanks for the opportunity, and Kiraya_TiDrekan, hope life settles in a bit for you.

Kiraya_TiDrekan "...an army of heroes and adventurers set out to defend against these threats and more, bringing a better world for all. This is the mission of the Tomorrow Legion. (Tomorrow Legion Players Guide; PG 128) "These threats," reference the extremism/hostility of the Coalition States & Federation of Magic. For the most part the Tomorrow Legion is a campaign starter and/or a vehicle to introduce/drive adventures. It introduces a new location Castle Refuge (timeline after the Coalition vs Tolkien war; 109 PA). This is something the original Rifts never really had, until much later with Coalition Wars (war w/ Tolkien) series. It is entirely optional, more so, if you have the setting info from the original Rifts in hand or in the case of myself, know it by heart. Our group is currently utilizing it; but I feel a divergence about to come on. Especially, if Mr. Fannon can crack the whip and get some additional material into our hands!

Random thought: Maybe D&D just isn't the game to run on these forums (for anyone, really) ... maybe something with less crunch, more story... Dungeon World, maybe? ^_^

http://i.imgur.com/hQKEF7g.pngIn a quiet voice, so as not to distract from the gravity of the introductions in this sacred place, Quickleaf arches his brow and leans over to Dydan, "Names, like appearances, can be deceiving, Dydan. The human Sovereign trusted you and your brother, didn't he?" Quickleaf smiles wryly. Either the other drow's enchantment is working on him, or he genuinely is naive enough not to hold his subterranean cousins in contempt. "Your people might choose names to inspire fear because it is all they understand, but the forest elves paint with a whole palette of emotions. Our naming ceremonies are beautiful things. I'll tell you all about it over elfwine on the road." Edited the title of my post with basic info on my character as industrygothica suggested, so we can keep character names straight. Did the same for my previous posts too, and will continue to do so. Kiraya_TiDrekan Do you want us to include mini-code like industrygothica does in every post?

Kiraya_TiDrekan Is it ok, since my character is from a far away land that doesn't interact with the Sovereign Lands at all (heck it might even be a different plane... the storm could have been supernatural) that I just make up details about his homeland? He's going to know more stuff due to his experience as a traveler (several languages etc) but most of it is going to be irrelevant for this setting. I thought it was ok, but I don't want to assume.

Greenmtn Your paladin apparently is touched by the divine! Go standard PHB human, and start with 14+ in all your stats! I'll be hiding between your character and Charwoman Gene's, thank you very much :) Right. I have never seen the same number so many times before. Makes it a little more interesting to try and flesh him out. I suppose I could switch to human, I hadn't thought about that. Race isn't too important to his story, really any race that could have a feudal government and militia/armies, and I haven't developed his description well. Kiraya_TiDrekan I get the impression you have gods for this world already. Any chance I could get info on a few of them, seems they are going to be an important part of my character?

Kiraya_TiDrekan I'd love to try your game, and I'd like to reimagine my very first namesake character that I started playing when I was 8 years old, if that's OK. "Quickleaf" (Eolais eth'Huran) is a smarmy wood elf prone to instigating bad trouble and good cheer (think ElfQuest elves, rather than Tolkien) who was sent away from his clan after a sacred totem was stolen due to his negligence. He is probably some combination of fighter, rogue, and ranger...probably starting ranger for this game. Speaking of which, is the Revised Ranger acceptable to use? If taking "undead" as a Favored Enemy, is there any language associated with the undead in your setting? And most importantly, does my character concept fit your ideas for the game? _: 4D6.HIGH(3) = [4, 1, 2, 6] = 12 4D6.HIGH(3) = [2, 1, 6, 6] = 14 4D6.HIGH(3) = [1, 6, 2, 3] = 11 4D6.HIGH(3) = [5, 5, 3, 1] = 13 4D6.HIGH(3) = [6, 4, 4, 6] = 16 4D6.HIGH(3) = [5, 2, 1, 1] = 8

...o the north. Or the fellowship hall, but judging by the horrific sounds of gunplay, shouting, and...was that snakes...that way seemed iffy. Otter froze, her mind a whir of gears, spinning through possibilities. Inside the storage and serving area, Bukowski crossed the room and tried the back door. Finding it locked, he pulled a Gerber from a back pocket and started jimmying the lock. After a moment, a click announced he'd gotten the bolt to withdraw. He opened the door and tried to get Cyril's attention. Garvey took a five foot step backward and stepped on the giant cockroach with her bare foot. There was a crack and sickening squelching sound, and Garvey grimaced in disgust. Shaking her heel free of the roach's ichor, she moved diagonally instead, then raised her Glock and fired off two shots, one at T-dawg, one at Feral. Both shots missed. As she did, the giant cockroach reared up on its intact hind legs and bite, dealing Garvey 1 point of damage. Feral's turn, Kiraya_TiDrekan! Man, Garvey is a really terrible shot! Shayuri, you let me know in advance that you'd be absent here and there over Thanksgiving, so if you reappear and want to state a turn for this round, I will work it in. Feral attempted to grapple Garvey. The snakes of her hair took advantage of Feral's proximity and lashed out, striking Feral in the face and neck for 3 points of damage. Poison seeped into Feral's wounds, burning. Feral took another 1 point of damage (critical hit) as some of the bite marks widened and gaped, stretching his skin. Feral needs to make a Fortitude saving throw DC 14, Kiraya_TiDrekan, to avoid poison damage on top of what he's already suffered for the AoO. His grapple touch attack missed by 1...do you have an AP you'd like to apply? 2 points poison Strength dmg now on a failed save (Feral passed), another 6 Str dmg on a failed Fort DC 14 save in one minute (applicable even though Feral made his first save, MODERN 225.

Garvey's rictus grin widened. Make a Fortitude DC 15 save, Kiraya_TiDrekan and gribble. Garvey does not incur an attack of opportunity for her action. His fist scrunched into a might ham, which he swung at her head, pummeling Garvey for a whopping 25 points of damage. Her jaw looked broken, but still she stood. Garvey spat blood, the snakes of her hair hissing with ire. A tooth fell out of her mouth when she spat, at T-dawg could see a gaping black hole where one of her front incisors had been. Garvey's yellow eyes fixed on T-dawg and hardened. End of Round 2, start of Round 3. First up is J.R., Rubberneck. I'll do a map update tonight when I get home. I used this link from your OP: http://www.enworld.org/forum/content.php?1360-all-features Then I used this link from the right-hand column: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showwiki.php?title=1st+Edition+AD+and+D+Collectors+Guide I cut and pasted the link in the address bar after the page resolved: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?332821-1st-Edition-AD-amp-D-Collector-s-Guide So the problem lies in how your browser is posting and the showwiki.php is interpreting the request. Can you post what appears in your address bar when you get a failure to see the 1E material?

Kind of a strange thing. I just bought the AD&D 1E Forgotten Realms Campaign Set. For some reason, one of the three PDFs in the set is GR3: Treasure Maps, an accessory for AD&D 2E.That happens from time to time. They will likely fix it if notified. I can't quite recall which one it was but I think one of the planescape products I had had a random map page from another product.

In the PDF, twenty pages of maps round out the page count. I don't know if these were poster-maps are folio pages or what in the physical product. The physical product came with two big maps - the City of GH is very close to the right edge of the left map, while (from memory) most of Urnst (and maybe the Bright Desert also - I haven't got my maps ready to hand) is on the left side of the right map. Greyhawk is the only published setting that I regularly use, although I tend to use the maps and the basic tropes and outline of history rather than all the minutiae.

The table for clerics in the PDF version I have is missing the brief introductory paragraph the other classes have, possibly due to a scanning error. It does indeed look like this is a scanning error. Here is the missing text: Clerics are often sought out during the course of a campaign, for characters are always in need of healing and diving advice. Before allowing such services to be obtained, the DM should be familiar with those sections of the DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE which involve clerics and their spells. Clerics have several points of information unique to their class. These are spell level and spell failure. The number under spell level (SL) is the highest level spell that that particular cleric can cast. This is provided for quick reference, so the DM may easily see what spells the cleric is capable of using. Spell failure (SF) lists the percentage chance that any spell cast by the cleric will fail to work. This only appears in a few of the listings as it is an attribute of low wisdom...

Though, perhaps another definition could be games that have a large, dedicated following and are known entities to non-gamers. In that case we would have to include Pathfinder. Wow! They made a game about driving a Nissan truck? ;) But seriously, one thing I do not think I saw mentioned that makes a game into a great game is replayability. Is it fun to play again and again? Even with the same people? Does the replayability give the less skilled players a chance to win once in a while? This last one I apply to a lot of games. Some may call it luck, for some it is just getting the right combo at the right time, like with Magic. And there has to be an element of chance, like with dice rolling or with random number generators in PC/console games. If a highly skilled player can beat everyone else every time, then a great game quickly becomes boring and not fun to any but the elite few grand master experts. And since people are throwing out names of actual games they think this fits, I will add the Ci...

This is the second week in a row with nothing new. Given some of the stuff that's still not available, this makes me worry a touch. Over on RPG.net, Matt wrote: We're not stopping, we're just slowing down a little as what we have left is odds-n-ends and titles that are not easy to scan (missing bits, cumbersome maps/elements, etc). We don't plan on leaving titles out just because, but some may take longer than others to get up on site. So I don't think there is reason to panic about the gaps yet.
