My Game Details

Details of games currently playing and games being sought.

Town:
Madison
State:
Wisconsin
Country:
USA
Game Details:
My primary game is D&D.
I will play any version, but at this time 5e is my game.
Not a fan of 3e or 3.5 (Pathfinder). Every time I tried that game it seemed too complex to be enjoyable.

I am usually a DM, but also love to play.
My favorite class to play is a cleric or paladin.

I live in the Madison, WI area. Located in SE Madison community, I will game pretty much anywhere in Madison.

BTW... I have an extensive miniatures collection. Last count was about 1800 miniatures total.
My Character:
I like to play clerics.
To me, clerics are the "heroes of heroes" and are an essential class for any adventuring group.
If someone decides they wish to play a cleric, I will often defer to playing a paladin or front line warrior if there seems to be a reasonable need.
My favorite race are dwarves.

The Rolemaster Arms Law critical tables and fumble tables were always my favorite part of that system. IMHO, Rolemaster was very crunchy. Many modifiers and calculations came into play with their system, but you only rolled once to determine hit and any damage. The open ended D100 system is fun to work with if you like the crunchy aspect of the system. I will need to look into HARP to see if it that system would have greater appeal to my non-numbers-crunchy players. Per attack, roll 1 to 5 times, actually, depending upon criticals. (A crit triggers 1-2 rolls on the crits tables, and those sometimes add another roll.) Gotta love those G crits... (Resolved as F crit and an A crit)

...ed with the release of new official materials for 4e. The other capability that my players really liked about the DDI 4e character generation tool is that it created a PDF that included color coded skill references that could be cut into useful reference cards for use during a session. Those cards would display the skill results (damage, effects, etc) with modifiers automatically calculated on the description. So if your fighter had a strength bonus, the skills that relied on strength bonuses to determine effects would be included in the card so the player simply had to reference the card instead of looking back at the character sheet. The color coding corresponded to the encounter and daily skills so that a player could quickly pick out the quality of a skill from the many that they would accumulate as their character progressed in levels. The cards were so popular that I purchased the spell cards that Gale Force Nine released for 5e spells. Thank you much for your response, Quatermane, I definitely hope to be able to provide all of the content available if I can work out licensing. As for cards, that is an excellent idea, I've thought about providing such cards for characters, NPC, spells, etc., I hope to start adding some of those features soon.
