About EthanSental
Introduction:
DM in NW Georgia - 5e currently
About Me:
Started playing back in highschool in the mid to late 80s. When my high school friends moved away for college I was lucky enough to start another group of friends in to the fantastic realm of roleplaying. 3 of us have been playing pretty much ever since with breaks here and there and swapping up DM chores as needed. Played mainly 2e, 3e, 3.5e, and now 5e with PF thrown in to replace 4e, but also includes a bit of Marvel superheroes and other game systems as well.
I enjoying painting minis when I have time but pick up the plastic minis as well.

  • 08:10 PM - Koren n'Rhys mentioned EthanSental in post Mentzer's Epic Worlds of Empyrea Kickstarter Launches For 10 Game Systems!
I'll be interested to see how it all plays out, for sure. I'd love a BECMI box set, but the price is too steep for my blood, unfortunately. It does seem ambitious, yes, but Frank seems to be trying to do it right and get lots of help. Some hefty pledge levels there though, for what you seem to get. YMMV. EthanSental: Darlene was the artist who did the big two poster hex map of Greyhawk from the original folio and box set - HUGE nostalgia factor for new maps by her. And just to point out, Tal'Dorei was a single hardcover book, I believe? This will be more akin to the old campaign box sets from TSR - multiple booklets, poster maps, etc. So much more expensive to produce.

  • 04:16 PM - Morrus quoted EthanSental in post Review Dragon Heist, Mad Mage, and Ravnica!
Maybe Iím overlooking something but mad mage has 3 reviews, all 4 out of 5 stars but a overall score of 75...shouldnít it be 80 or is the overall scoring not determined that way? There's no zero rating. There's five 25% increments (including 0% and 100%): 1=0%, 2=25%, 3=50%, 4=75%, 5=100%.

  • 06:53 AM - DQDesign quoted EthanSental in post Ravnica Available To DMs Guild Creators From Today!
For those wanting to create using the playground of another companies IP, but complaining when they canít and or not buying the product until itís opened up for their benefit....that is my issue...we all have different desires, mine donít line up with that line of reasoning, thatís all :) all opinions are obviously legitimate, and I obviously respect yours even if I have different ones :) please, just consider that having settings open for development on dms guild is not only for authors' 'benefit', wotc gets 50% share of anything sold on the guild, and also with a very limited effort apart from IP licensing. IP that comprises a large amount of products not created by them at the beginning (e.g. Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft). I think dmsguild is a small thing for them, but a thing that has a very limited number of drawbacks on their side.

  • 04:53 AM - gyor quoted EthanSental in post After Waterdeep what should be the next FR adventure?
That would be cool and another location for pirate themed could be Luskan and the 5 captins and cover some territory up their We have had too much Swordcoast right now, I mean every adventurer has been on the Swordcoast basically except CoS and ToA and honestly doing a Luskan Pirate Campaign would basically require reusing Jarlaxle and his faction. Honestly I'd just use a lot of W: DH's materials with SCAG for Luskan. Making it the Sea of Fallen Stars on the other hand takes us to a very different region, one very popular and desperately in need of attention. Something Pirate or Privateer Themed, but let's us explore a vast part of the realms that has been neglected in 5e. Honestly the Sea of Fallen Stars is my favourite part of FR because because it has many of the most interesting nations all connected by this sea. And it's rich is history and interactions. It's very diverse. There is Cormyr, Sembia, Algorand, Rasheman, Thay, Mulhorand, Unther, Vesperin, Tymanther, Turmish,...

  • 01:12 AM - Abstruse quoted EthanSental in post News Digest: More Dragon Heist Products, Pathfinder Playtest Update, Fortnite to Tabletop, and more!
Thanks enworld for these articles as itís quicker than waiting on GF9 to post it on their news link on their own site. Ordered the GF9 minis as I enjoy their resin minis, top notch stuff! I know that feeling. A lot of game companies focus more on updating on social media via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. than on their own website since that's how the vast majority of their fans and customers get information on new products. Makes it difficult when you're trying to link to their product page in your column only to find there isn't one yet...

  • 03:03 AM - Parmandur quoted EthanSental in post Goodman Games To Resurrect The Isle of Dread
The first one was 384 total pages with a few adds on the last few. So maybe similar page count? Glad to hear it's their biggest release seller so far as a company so it shows there is a market for it regardless of how many people posted why they weren't buying it :) Based on the description of the contents, I'd say far fewer pages: only one adventure instead of two, 2 original versions and the 5E conversion, plus extras. Probably half the legth, or less.

  • 04:30 PM - delericho quoted EthanSental in post D&D = American + European Fantasy
Golarion is Paizo's version of Forgotten Realms, every troope has a place somewhere. Both are fun settings to read as multiple creative minds add to the lore. I always got the impression that Golarion was Paizo's answer to Greyhawk. What with Eric Mona being such a huge fan and all...

Who wrote this? talien or sirlarkins? as a player and dm, the idea of added realism appeals to me but as the article mentions, prefer the simplistically of TTB. Unfortunately the way the tool currently works I publish the articles first and then edit them after they're published to the appropriate author. If I don't get to it right away, it can cause some confusion, sorry about that.

[QUOTE=EthanSental;7475283]You probably already caught the info in red but the masts have magnets to hold them in place.[/QUOTE Given the shape and top-heavy nature of the masts, I would worry about their stability if only held by magnets. If the magnets are strong enough, however, it will be a nice feature. Easy to move them out of the way if not needed.

  • 07:06 PM - Kobold Boots quoted EthanSental in post Roll20 Weighs in on Esports
I think it would be funny to see late 70s/ early 80s tourney style dnd played nowadays in the everyone gets a participation trophy generation so we don't hurts anyone's feelings. I dont see it happening or being enjoyable too watch except for the end when we can see the whining and complaining that their table or a player should have won :) ^^ This ^^ However, I do think that it can be done well enough to be marketable. Especially if we consider that golf has a rather rabid viewership. There's a slot for every tab to fit in. KB

Just noticed that MtG site has 2 Ravnica based products coming out as well, one in October and January. Sorry if this has already been mentioned. Cross branding in effect for both. Is there an active MtG board to see what those people are posting about the D&D setting book? Theres the subreddit, though after the excitement they moved onto different topics as Reddit does. Though to be fair to them an hour after the Ravnica book announcement they got card Spoilers so their attention was refocused to that

I have to admit, I saw PAX and first thought was penny arcade 😀 Do you mind saying what the ball park figure was for the unit and all the shelves? Looking at the IKEA catalog I would say you are over $1000.00. Awesome storage for pre-painted figures. I looked into it for some more of my Dwarven Forge stuff, but the drawers would not hold up with my heavy resin pieces. This piece I bought from IKEA and stored resin pieces in is falling apart. I had to remove most of the resin pieces and use it for the lighter "dwarvenite" pieces. 95660 95661

I was curious about the errata as I've bought a second PHB that says it includes revisions, 3 in my local FLGS said the same, first printing but includes revisions...but all still have the 4th bullet in the dungeon delver feat. What printing should I be looking for for this normal PHB? Im almost ready to order these for the errata and covers being a cool secondary bonus. My books are still in great shape 3+ years later. To see which print run it is you have to look at the code underneath the print info; "9 8 7 6 5 4 ..." every print run they remove one number. Printings and print runs are two different things. There have been multiple print runs of each printing, for all we know. The most recent errata document I can find on the WotC site lists updates for the 6th printing of the PHB.

I didn't play much 4e but seeing 15 hp at first level seems high to my 1e/2e/3e/5e mindset. Function of game design for the edition but just odd to my initial eye balling :) still ill looking forward to reading the final PDF rules book to mine for my home D&D game! This is an effect of our take on ancestries and 0-level characters. Unlike older editions, you gain Hit Points for you ancestry not just for your class and when you level. So, for instance, the gnome baker living in town might have 8 Hit Points, while the 1st-level gnome rogue you just met at the tavern might have 16 Hit Points.

  • 11:48 PM - Olaf the Stout quoted EthanSental in post New Unpainted miniature line by Wizkidz
These minis have been great to see made, much better quality and sculpt detail compared to the Bones line in my opinion. Just finished painting 3 myself the past few days. The attached shields and weapons can make getting underneath tricky but just a minor annouyance to an outstanding line. The next wave release this month as well! Iíve still found the details on them a bit shallow compared to metal minis or something like the GW plastic minis. I recently painted the half-elf sorcerer with the flame coming from his hands as my Wild Mage PC in our current ToA campaign. I found the eye sockets on that mini to be the smallest Iíve ever painted before (it was something of a minor miracle that I managed to not make him look cross-eyed and only took 2 goes to paint the eyes). The lips and mouth were basically non-existent on my sculpt, so I just had to freehand them on. I loved the clear plastic though as I was able to make a really cool looking purple flame with just a simple wash. I was r...

  • 11:02 PM - Jester David quoted EthanSental in post THIS Is The Pathfinder Playtest Rulebook!
I heard Jester mentioned on the Friday fireside chat episode :). As far as the possible alt covers for the core books, I'm probably down with picking this up, mainly for the errata printing compared to my first edition printing books. Yup. That was my tweet at roughly the 20 minute mark, quoting a DEFCON 1 comment.
