I have to admit, I saw PAX and first thought was penny arcade 😀 Do you mind saying what the ball park figure was for the unit and all the shelves?

Thanks for the response! I've been painting since the late 80s but until recently started sealing them, resulting in a few minis that needed touch ups or almost whole repainted...then sealed this time. I've been using Armory and Army painter sealers but was curious what others were using so I appreciate the detailed response :)

In the early 90s I had 5 chessex boxes that held 80 or a piece (double layer boxe). Still have them with a few unpainted ral partha minis too :) Now I have 2 battlefoam cases foe painted and plastic minis with the big ones on a shelf. I like the IKEA cases as I already have one but it has superhero and such statues in it currently.

These minis have been great to see made, much better quality and sculpt detail compared to the Bones line in my opinion. Just finished painting 3 myself the past few days. The attached shields and weapons can make getting underneath tricky but just a minor annouyance to an outstanding line. The next wave release this month as well!

Glad a stumbled across the thread, amazing work! How did the mammoth and giant adventure go as I would have been amazed if I was at the table and someone placed that combo on the table. Last question, maybe I missed it in the painting set up picture but what kind of sealant do you use?

The only thing I'm worried about at the moment is worst case, they crash and burn, by the time it's "planned" to be out in November will be past yam credit card charge back 90 day time frame. I'm maybe 5% worried so,etching like this happens so it's a slight nagging in the back of my mind. The sectional book is a selling point to me. With no PDF, being able to keep relevant pages handy...

About EthanSental
Introduction:
DM in NW Georgia - 5e currently
About Me:
Started playing back in highschool in the mid to late 80s. When my high school friends moved away for college I was lucky enough to start another group of friends in to the fantastic realm of roleplaying. 3 of us have been playing pretty much ever since with breaks here and there and swapping up DM chores as needed. Played mainly 2e, 3e, 3.5e, and now 5e with PF thrown in to replace 4e, but also includes a bit of Marvel superheroes and other game systems as well.
I enjoying painting minis when I have time but pick up the plastic minis as well.

I'll be interested to see how it all plays out, for sure. I'd love a BECMI box set, but the price is too steep for my blood, unfortunately. It does seem ambitious, yes, but Frank seems to be trying to do it right and get lots of help. Some hefty pledge levels there though, for what you seem to get. YMMV. EthanSental: Darlene was the artist who did the big two poster hex map of Greyhawk from the original folio and box set - HUGE nostalgia factor for new maps by her. And just to point out, Tal'Dorei was a single hardcover book, I believe? This will be more akin to the old campaign box sets from TSR - multiple booklets, poster maps, etc. So much more expensive to produce.

I have to admit, I saw PAX and first thought was penny arcade 😀 Do you mind saying what the ball park figure was for the unit and all the shelves? Looking at the IKEA catalog I would say you are over $1000.00. Awesome storage for pre-painted figures. I looked into it for some more of my Dwarven Forge stuff, but the drawers would not hold up with my heavy resin pieces. This piece I bought from IKEA and stored resin pieces in is falling apart. I had to remove most of the resin pieces and use it for the lighter "dwarvenite" pieces. 95660 95661

I was curious about the errata as I've bought a second PHB that says it includes revisions, 3 in my local FLGS said the same, first printing but includes revisions...but all still have the 4th bullet in the dungeon delver feat. What printing should I be looking for for this normal PHB? Im almost ready to order these for the errata and covers being a cool secondary bonus. My books are still in great shape 3+ years later. To see which print run it is you have to look at the code underneath the print info; "9 8 7 6 5 4 ..." every print run they remove one number. Printings and print runs are two different things. There have been multiple print runs of each printing, for all we know. The most recent errata document I can find on the WotC site lists updates for the 6th printing of the PHB.

I didn't play much 4e but seeing 15 hp at first level seems high to my 1e/2e/3e/5e mindset. Function of game design for the edition but just odd to my initial eye balling :) still ill looking forward to reading the final PDF rules book to mine for my home D&D game! This is an effect of our take on ancestries and 0-level characters. Unlike older editions, you gain Hit Points for you ancestry not just for your class and when you level. So, for instance, the gnome baker living in town might have 8 Hit Points, while the 1st-level gnome rogue you just met at the tavern might have 16 Hit Points.

The attached shields and weapons can make getting underneath tricky but just a minor annouyance to an outstanding line. The next wave release this month as well! Iíve still found the details on them a bit shallow compared to metal minis or something like the GW plastic minis. I recently painted the half-elf sorcerer with the flame coming from his hands as my Wild Mage PC in our current ToA campaign. I found the eye sockets on that mini to be the smallest Iíve ever painted before (it was something of a minor miracle that I managed to not make him look cross-eyed and only took 2 goes to paint the eyes). The lips and mouth were basically non-existent on my sculpt, so I just had to freehand them on. I loved the clear plastic though as I was able to make a really cool looking purple flame with just a simple wash. I was r...

I heard Jester mentioned on the Friday fireside chat episode :). As far as the possible alt covers for the core books, I'm probably down with picking this up, mainly for the errata printing compared to my first edition printing books. Yup. That was my tweet at roughly the 20 minute mark, quoting a DEFCON 1 comment.

Last question, maybe I missed it in the painting set up picture but what kind of sealant do you use? Thanks! BadFruul gets dropped on the table a week from Saturday at a small local con called MageCon. I just got done packing the first adventure I am running - a decent sized dungeon. I'm running three games and I am bringing a TON of luggage! ;) I am a big fan of Testor's Model Master Lusterless (Flat). It is a super matte finish. So much so that occasionally I have to touch up shiny bits like armor, weapons, tongues, etc. It is not a super high endurance finish however. For some frequently handled miniatures I will start with a layer of gloss and follow with a couple layers of Lusterless (Flat). It will dull pigments slightly. The best finishes, like Daler Rowney varnish, are applied with an airbrush...

Not being a 40k follower, I'm getting this one and the C7 warhammer rpg confused when I see anything warhammer rpg threads. Same universe, different eras, different companies and different rules. Same time frame to be coming out or pre-order. Anyone picking up both or leaning toward one or the other for those who play warhammer? I'm still picking up the C7 version, just curious is the serious fan grabbing both. (1) The Cubicle 7 game is the classic Warhammer Fantasy 4th Edition using a ruleset very similar to the very first ever Warhammer Fantasy Role Play edition, so basically a percentile D100. (2) Sadly, Ulisses North America is publishing Warhammer 40,000 (call it the very far future of Warhammer) and uses a D6 dice pool, similar to the miniatures wargame. So, I get the different design choices for the Warhammer Fantasy vs Warhammer 40,000, but the price of WH40K pre-order is so high due to the special D6 and other cards being bundled, which if you ask me, are not strictly neces...

Out of curiosity knowing not every Kickstarter can be a Colville or 7th sea, but when you see 100-200 backers and that successfully funds a book, is the designers main goal tomshare his creation, make a little cash, foot wet in publishing, etc? I'm kind of amazed to things considered to be successfully funded with 100-200 people...just odd to me is all and just asking. My ex wife 15 years ago just wanted to get a book of poems printed as bucket list thing so I'm just curious of the motivation with such low numbers. Speaking to my project in particular (The Book of Many Things), We've already created over half the content before even coming to Kickstarter, so we are using that medium as more of a marketing forum to reach players who may not follow other websites/social media where we are. Of the 146 backers we have as of this reply, about 70% of them hadn't heard of the book before I posted the campaign. Now, however, the word is getting out, and with our last 5 days closing in, more people will ...

The C7 site has the pdf releasing in June with the book in July...home stretch to seeing it in some form. From Facebook, 3 days ago, re PDF publish date: "Cubicle 7 Entertainment: We're working on it Corey, if it isn't June it shouldn't be far into July. We'll keep you posted on progress here. The previews will lead up to the retail launch though, so it's not just about the PDF release"

For 99% of those working in the RPG industry, itís not a niche which will make you rich. Outliers aside, you can almost always make more money doing something other than publishing RPG books. A lot of people do it because they love it, not because itís a career optimal choice.

Speaking for Mithrilpunk Press here cannot speak for others. Our first project funded for just about 9000, with 116 backers. That amount basically covered the costs of that project and kept the lights on for our very small part time company. We did it primarily because we always wanted to publish something for our favorite RPG. We did it for experience, and for fun. Magical spell and ability skill don't really match up in my eyes as being the same. I'll pass on this edition until it comes out and see what the playtest molds this crud into. Yes - it's a pass for me and everyone I know in my two game groups, which it wasn't until this last release came out. Let's hope Paizo see some sense and drop this. Otherwise they are going to lose a lot of customers. If D&D was a superhero game, then this would be fine... but it's not, and the idea that a Fighter in full plate could knock a non-winged titanic boss monster off a mountain top, fall with him and after the massive HP-laden monster was pavement pizza, just stand up without a single HP damage and walk away is ridiculous.

Does it mean the possible other settings are fair game for other poeple to use on the DMguild? Or do they have to state it's not fair game since I wasn't not paying attention when Ravenloft was added with CoS? Maybe. When Curse of Strahd was released, Ravenloft was added to the Guild. They might be doing something similar here. I suspect we're getting introductory adventures, to introduce newer players to the settings' tropes and concepts along with starter regions and then opening up those worlds to Guild expansion.

I find it interesting that it seems for every 1 that posts various 5e products aren't for them, apparently 10 people buy it anyway since the sales for the products are top sellers. Enough previous gamers and many new gamers are having fun with what they are creating. Perkins has been doing great as the story line creator in my book and watching him on Lore You Should Know shows he cares about the material. Props Chris!I apologize that I had the audacity to voice either disinterest or displeasure at this product.
