No mention of the twins, nor Nel. There was more storytelling to it, but...

Following Taylar's lead, Maka also intensifies his search for minerals as the party travels.Thinking back to what his father once told him, he is inspired. "Waterstone," Maka says, out loud, to no one in particular. Maka will search for any evident ores and minerals, but will focus particularly on finding Waterstones.

@Tellerian Hawke & @Kwargrow & @Sylvar B. I figure y'all will be going with the same characters but if you wish to replace any to try something new, let me know. That is acceptable. Due to her Academic rank, Bolo can actively control 2 companions, if she wishes to add one. Merin can only control one, but he may dismiss Myth and look for another, if he so chooses. @Aust Thale If RL slows some where you wish to pick up again with us, I will update your characters to the appropriate level, or you can choose to try something new. @tglassy This particular PbP relies much more on writing and expressing ideas than technicality. As you have expressed an interest in the past, I wanted to invite you to join in ACT II of the The Untamed Wilds campaign. I think your ability to convey your thoughts would be an asset to the entertainment value of the game.

...yed several consecrated items like this in the past. It takes about an hour to perform the ceremony, at the end of which, a scroll is read, which causes the flail to disintegrate in a blinding flash of blue light. The ceremony concludes at 6:35 pm, and a feast is held in the temple's mead hall, in the party's honor, which lasts until 9 pm. Each member of the party earns 2,615 experience points! Despite going to bed a little late (9:30 pm, by the time everyone is settled in) the next day starts bright and early, allowing the party no time for dilly dallying. The party spends the night at the inn. The new day is Patchwall 14, CY 963: Everyone wakes up at 6:30 am. Everyone is bathed, groomed, and dressed by 7:30 am. Breakfast is served between 7:30 am and 8:30 am. The party members who need to are now able to retire to their rooms, for study and prayers. Spells are regained by 9:30 am. [Everyone should take this opportunity to adjust and/or update your spell lists, as needed.] @Aust Thale DM's NOTE:Vale, before turning in last night, you talked with the bartender downstairs, and he told you that there is a Dwarven Shrine in the Royal Grounds district, near the Mayor's Tower. He says that the shrine is run by three Dwarven priests, one of whom is a High Priest of Moradin. The shrine would be an excellent place to pray in general, and they may even have trinkets for sale that would aid against undead. It's probably worth checking out. Respen, you have a hunch that you may be able to acquire the scrolls and alchemical equipment that you need from Laramon, and possibly even at a discount, since he has agreed to accept you as an apprentice! @Diarmadhim DM's NOTE: Dewydd, it occurs to you that the party is very well off, currently, in the way of cash reserves. • 05:57 AM - 97mg quoted Aust Thale in post Aletia: All you can eat
A hard lump formed in Aletia's throat, and her ears rang as though a plague of cicadas had found a nearby place to roost, when Bill off-headed the oversized rodentia. It was shocking, gruesome and rather unexpected! Burning hatred and desire for vengeance she completely understood, but witnessing it first hand? This was something you could never be fully prepared for. Would she one day take a life like this, in a snap of one's fingers? Before judging the man on his brutal actions, Aletia considered what she might have done, had this individual brought about Vallio's fate. Yes... she would have severed a head too, given half a chance. Then there was another lingering thought to struggle with. The abductors. Had they physically harmed her? No. Had their actions warranted a death sentence? Arguable. It was permanently confirmed now, like carvings in an old stone wall, that guilt was decreed by association and allegiance. No wonder Bill had inquired as to her own. This level of connectedness, pack ...

Aust: Speaks to Elloral "Please cure me of this curse." Aust looks at the rodent-creature, bound and blind, as he speaks to Avar "I don't care how it dies, as long as it does!" He says before he raises his voice further. "Do you hear me, vermin? I plan to make it my hobby bringing your people to a genocide so deep that your descendants will avoid Cabarda for the next 100 years!" At that point, Billanverthorne strikes swiftly, severing the head of the rhat with one mighty swing of his greatsword. Avar grins as Elloral gasps prompting Burrai to reach over to grab her arm comfortingly. Tonights events were truly upsetting and not getting any easier. He leans towards her and whispers. Burrai: -Whispers- "Do it now. Pray the healing calms his nerves as well." Elloral: Steps forward and lays her hands on Aust. "Great goddess Valkauna, cure this poor soul. Let your healing powers cleanse away the curse of Vermithrax!" Abjuration Level: Brd 3, Clr 3, Pal 3, Sor/Wiz 4 Components: V, S Casting...

  • 06:53 AM - narayan quoted Aust Thale in post In the cellar of Jabbar's Trade Shop
Aust moves to the cellar, speaking to Avar as he moves into it. Avar and Elloral follow Aust down into the Cellar. Elloral shares a look with Burrai as if to say, 'Get ready for this...' while Avar crosses his arms. "I have much to do and little time to do it. I was to go to the cleric. That must happen quickly. Can’t very well be dead or furry with all this going on. I must at bare minimum look and feel like an elf. First things first, WHAT?!? You kept the Vul?!?" Yes, Avar had shared that with him quietly as Aust had held Jabbar's arm. The small crowd gathered in the cellar was tense, and it was clear they had exchanged words. Aust was simultaneously resentful of their presence and mindful of Jabbar's intentions with them."Well? What now? Surely you royal fools have a plan, no? I didn't think so." Aust continues, specifically to Aletia, Ersun, Burrai, Elloral, and Bill without looking at them, continuing to contemplate Jabbar’s body while walking around the Vul on the table. Aust sp...

  • 05:50 PM - MacConnell quoted Aust Thale in post Lathir engages Vale
When Lathir finishes his morning ritual, he returns to the company of the group, being informed that a scout party has departed from the fort below. Upon seeing the patrol leave the garrison, Vale quietly nudges Lathir, "You want to try a similar approach as yesterday? We are going to lose our surprise when they come back. It will take some three or four hours before they find them, and the same on the return trip. Either way, we are going to have to deal with them. This is the urgent before the important." Lathir carefully surveys the departing company of foes. "I can shift into a bird and fly from here to get ahead of that crew to lay an effective trap. Some kind of unobtrusive bird not likely to attract attention, say a vulture. I will set the trap close to where that scout party would be coming up on the other group we eliminated. Others of you will be able to hit them from behind while I have them distracted. Are we all in agreement, here?" Lathir's New Spell List: 0 1 2 Detect...

The wild druidess grunted as the larger foe stepped before his small mischievous colleague. So it would be then, the big one first. Her swish of a scimitar failing, Shelladda tensed herself for what was to come. It was their turn to retaliate, in what had so far been a rather frustrating encounter. It was time for her luck to change perhaps? She listened for the sound of hooves, the support of her beast, yet thus far her friend was yet to arrive. [Initiative Ruddah (Round 4) = 1. VALE: " I agree. We either drop down hole, or we start out of here quickly and try to be out of tree cover by dark. I can create a way for us to hide during the night, but given we've lost our magical means out of here, I'm concerned that might be affected as well. " Lathir responds to Vale. "I am good either way. So how about the rest of you? Do we go and return another day or do we see just how this rabbit hole will take us?"

  • 04:50 AM - narayan quoted Aust Thale in post Joseth Occius
Joseth rolls Spot Check: 16 You spot a local Water Buffalo (Wild Bison) grazing near a large thicket of thorny shrubs and Fever Trees. Water Buffalo's normally graze nearer to rivers, ponds and lakes in their own herds, yet this one was singular. As you peer closer you notice this is no ordinary bison, for it carries packs and a crude saddle of sorts. It is not unheard of for Wild bison to be used as mounts, but only the bravest and strongest dare to ride such strong beasts. It seems unlikely this buffalo belonged to one of the warriors escorting the herd of cattle. Horses or Mules would better suite the job, and this buffalo doesn't bare any of the usual flair of tribal decoration if it belonged to an Omoro tribesman. The cattle tracks meander through the thicket towards what could be a huge clearing on the other side. At this moment you also realize there are many vultures circling in the air above. An ominous sign. A bad feeling comes over you as a vision of an attack on the cattle her...

Respen, clearly excited at the prospect of travelling magically, says, "Then the mirror is what we shall do." He leads his horse purposefully back to Margull's... Lathir - "I will meet you there. I do not wish to leave Angus confined while I am away. Should some ill fate befall me, the bear should be able to return to its natural habitat. I will take him outside the city. I am sure that I will be able to reconnect with him when I return. Sugarfoot and the rented horse are domesticated. I will colect them and then lead them to Margull's." With that, Lathir departs.

"Margull's office presents an opportunity to both reconnoiter and enter Skorane undetected and without the several day travel. If we leave our horses, we could use Margull's magic device to see where we are going ahead of time, as well as travel to it magically and nearly instantaneously. We'd have to leave our mounts, but we might be able to come back using this device as well. I think it's worth a look. As it is, we'd be timing our arrival. This allows us to conceivably enter and leave without notice, even by sundown today. Can you come with me back to the tower, and let's try this? " Lathir, not prone to direct involvement, speaks, "I do not know the specific name of this particularly powerful device, but I have heard of them. In fact, I have some skill at scrying, though not at the level that a wizard would pursue, and would like to take a look at this mirror. I would even consider it to be advantageous to travel by those means even if I have to leave Angus behind. I was concerned for h...

Upon seeing Lathir, Respen strikes up conversation about their supplies. He offers Lathir 8 flasks of oil that Respen has in one of his horse's saddlebags. He has a total of 10 from previous purchases in Dyvers before the Caltaran travels. "Save your currency, Lathir. I will happily give these over, and they were intended for use this way anyhow." Lathir greets Respen and accepts the presence of his company while he walks. Fortunate it is that you happened by my path. No need to give all the vials over. My full intention upon purchasing them was to distribute them amongst our group. Since I understand fire to be beneficial in dealing with creatures of the dark, both natural and unnatural, if we happen upon a grouping of that sort, I thought whoever is closest can anoint them with oil and I will cleanse them with fire!

Respen to Lathir: "As a druidcaster of nature, do you possess any talent or magic that can assist us in dealing with the clay golem?" Lathir to Respen - Not specifically, no. I can feel the essence of the earth, the wood, the stone; but as yet, I can command little of them and mostly with regard to heat. I can soften natural stone or clay but I know nothing of what it might cause to an animated monstrosity. I can sculp stone, but again, know not what effect is may have. Even if lightning might harm one, if we are underground, I cannot call it. To the party in general: "I have but a single interest in alchemical substances. Toxin-removers, just in case. Spiders, even undead ones, suggest poison. We might need some liquid relief in a pinch. Should anyone else wish to take on that bit of business for the group, please speak up and do so. It's important. " Lathir interjects - Now in this regard, I can lend some assistance. I can slow and neutralize poisons.

  • 02:42 AM - 97mg quoted Aust Thale in post Aletia: Warm mists and cold news
The young newcomer hovered next to Jabbar’s hearth, a light mist arising off her silver silken dress as it slowly succumbed to the warmth. Heat thawed her legs whilst strange new knowledge soaked into her ears. Her first job for Burlock, and so very interesting! Jabbar: Sighs. "It is true they are both known criminals and dangerous degenerates. The Vulfear keep accounts of their activities and known associates, but so long as they operate away from cities and larger towns like this their offenses are largely ignored. Local sheriffs or town guards are too weak to intervene. Only the Vulkyrie are strong enough to apprehend or kill them, and it's anyone's guess why they don't?" "There must be some kind of relationship between the Black Network and the Vul hierarchy we aren't aware of? Vulkyrie aren't the decision makers after all. They obey and protect the the Vul-Kings royal family, who himself takes orders from the Vul Elder Council. As always, the Vul Elder Council occupies the Vulmek Rookery ...

A thought comes to him. "Ren, I have some questions for you. How similar are Rhats to Were-rats? When were-rats turn, do they remain themselves? How much instinct takes over for lucidity or thought? And if something is out of place, how adaptable are they and how quickly? I have an idea or two. (Looks at Jabbar). But I want to know about how they work. Fight. Cooperate. And the like." Ren: - Answers Aust -"Wererats are the mortal enemies of Rhats. Most other races presume Rhats have more in common with wererats than other races because of our mutual affinity with rats. We consider this very insulting. The truth is our differences are far more important! Wererats tend to start life as rogues or thugs. They only work together to spite other races. Rhats are communal creatures; we appreciate camaraderie and cooperation with other races. While we are curious, polite and hard-working wererats are cruel, greedy and murderous." "As far as their tell-tale tendencies go, wererats tend to shirk bright l...

Dengar: Painfully aware of why they came to this realm, "We are resting, right? This is most assuredly not something that resembles resting. The orc was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I left that foul, oversized creature to you all because it's painfully obvious to me that we need to regain our strength. Sphynx, forgive me as a may well be confused, but isn't this the place you went to restore yourself, returning to our plane seconds or perhaps minutes after leaving?" Pausing for a moment, he walks toward Sphynx and whispers to him, asking him could this giant orc-spawn be related to the rutterkin they destroyed on their wayward wizard's private Oerth?" 78026 Sphynx nods. "Yes I came here to rest. I was unaware of the difference in the passage of time from here as compared to there until I returned. I originally discovered this world during an astral travel. I did not 'create' it as Nimbar is prone to surmise, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that that creature is not ...

Having walked this road before, Revan takes advantage of even the little familiarity to work on mental skills, particularly, how to get into Aust's head. To read his thoughts. To communicate with him. To feel the emotions he feels. Manipulating the Way, she attempts about every half hour or so the first day of travel. She holds his hand while she attempts. If successful, she stands next to him walking, and then experiments with the distance. Call it telepathy, empathy, or mind-reading, she works on making herself better at those mental disciplines. Holding Aust hand, Revan finds that she can indeed read his emotions quite readily, but as to the specifics of thought, they are still a mystery. At a distance, she can get a general idea of complacency then affection then concentration but nothing specific. Having found some measure of success, she feels that this is something she should continue to pursue. Revan increases Will by 1 point. You will need to update your character record. In a...

Ren: Flicks his whiskers in disdain "Noro embodies the phrase, 'no honor among thieves', a spawn of former ways when many roguish groups vied for dominion over these streets. After master Rasul unified them, promising greater-prosperity-through-peace, excessive violence and interguild-corruption was harshly punished, which, ironically put hedonistic thugs like Noro in high-demand. His willingness to spit in the eye of guild-law earned him silent-admirers who retained his services as an enforcer with hefty purses of coin and other bribes." "Noro's reputation for backstabbing served him well. Each time Rasul called for a reckoning against Noro, demanding that he be brought before the council in chains to answer to a vote-of-execution, Noro's promise of retribution against any who dared to vote against him kept the council's tally under the required majority. What's worse, Noro made a mockery of any other form of punishment inflicted on him; be it lashes, torture, hard-labor, or public-humiliation....

Aust Thale returns to Jabbars Trade Shop out of the lashing rain, bleeding and distraught. He stumbles against the door, smearing bloody fingers against the invisible runes to disarm the magical wards before he opens it and collapses within. Avar and Billanverthorne are quick to step to his side with wide-eyed looks. Aust expected to see Avar of course, he and Jabbar dropped off the Neferese-female prisoner earlier before the night went very-very wrong. The other elf beside him however is a stranger, but at this point Aust is so gladdened to be back safely he is willing to accept a new face at-face-value. Billanverthorne is an elf, elves usually conduct themselves respectfully towards each other. Avar: "Aust! Where in the nine-hells have you been? Where is the prisoner?!" He exclaims. "She's Dead, I killed her. There was no choice. You should have warned me she was a wererat!" Avar: Looks aghast. "Wererat?!" "YES! Where is Jabbar? He needs to hear this as well. Revan is taken with the ability to heat the rocks, and she looks about the town to find fire-proof gloves or material that can be sewn into similar. Revan finds nothing that meets the qualifications of her search. Our own knobbed lizard skin exhibits a resistance to heat, but it is even more rigid than deer or goat skin, almost as rigid as bovine or equine hide. Aust has no additional provisions, and advocates selling as much of the bitter lizard that can be sold while retaining the parts that the assorted party members want to retain. Lyndha, who is also at the Boar's Head since the Trades Store is closed at night, looks at the trinkets Revan has been fashioning and expresses an interest. She also agrees to hold onto the mass of collected bones and keep them in safe store, until more time presents itself for further discussion. Taking an idea from Merin, Sheldon expresses a desire for making use of the first 20 claws that were collected from the Hooded Lizard. "I would like to see if Raven ...

This particular vines appears to not have yet been noticed by the roving pigs. He collects two good handfuls of berries, enough for everyone to enjoy a few. He and Indigo collect many of the leaves from the vine as they have therapeutic value. A few poisonous mushrooms are located but nothing of any significance in that category.
