Thursday's new podcast speaks about the blood war https://media.wizards.com/2018/podcasts/dnd/DnDPodcast_02_01_2018.mp3 The keep talking about the planes. I think we can take for granted that Marathon is going to be something "Planes-related" In the last two month, they've also had podcasts on dragons of the Sword Coast, Vecna, evil trees, holidays, lycanthrope, and the Weave. They could just be going down a planar rabbit hole based on what Sernett and Perkins find interesting. They do like 40 podcasts; they can't all relate to the three books they do.

I think we can take for granted that Marathon is going to be something "Planes-related" I feel like the combo of Mordenkainen and the Blood War hints pretty strongly for something like Mordenkainen's Guide to the Multiverse, or something similar. We'll see.

Well, I'm only familiar with synopses, but IIRC isn't Asmodeus the real villain in the original Modron March, manipulating the Modrons for an advantage in the Blood War...? Sent from my [device_name] using EN World mobile app Actually it was Orcus If I'm not mistaken I think it was Orcus. After my reading, it was totally Orcus as Tenebrous. Not only orchestrating an early March, but also the focal point of Dead Gods. With the way Out of the Abyss ended, maybe that could setup an attack on Orcus by Kiaransalee to kickstart these events. Or, they could change it up. Maybe actually have Asmodeus do his own Modron March, possibly with Blackjack and/or hookers. We shall see what happens! Supossedly Orcus ends up in a Mind Flayer city, transforms into undeath that city's elder brain an the mind flayers but that's about the extent of it's intervention in OotA In Dead Gods, he does actually kill Maanzecorian, the illithid god of secrets. I'm not sure where exactly it wou...

The novel fell through for reasons beyond our control. Sh*t happens! :)" Here's the link to the AMA: https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/47k82t/ama_with_chris_perkins_today_at_1030_am_pst/?sort=old&limit=500 AD

I keep thinking about a Prime Material Planes supplement where in 25 pages or so six or seven Primes would be discussed. Eberron, Athas, Oriental Adventures, Mystara, Spelljammer or Aebrynis from Birthright. After that (120-140 pages) we could have between 30 to 40 pages of new classes, spells, rules and crunch related to eqch world. Defilers and Templar Pacts from Dark Sun Dragon Marks from.Eberron Draconian variants, Knights of Solamnia paladins from Dragonlance Ruling rules from Birthright. I would buy such a supplement and it wouldn't be very difficult to develop. The ideas, concepts, maps and art are already there. It is just a matter of update them to 5e. Anyway, just two weeks and a half for the announcement Yes, people have been making similar (very good) suggestions since about the beginning of 5e. We all want to buy it, we all think it would be a great idea. For some reason WotC seems completely unwilling to listen to us. Maybe they should straight up ask it in a ...

  • 09:04 PM - RedTorment quoted mankyle in post Best Modules to Introduces the Forgotten Realms Flavor in the 5E
For me there is an adventure that I have DMd a couple of times with different groups. It is the very first adventure set in the Forgotten Realms, Under Illefarn. Reavers of Harkenwold is a good 4E adventure set in Nentir vale that could be easily modified to set the zhentarim as the Bad Guys. I will have a look at Under Illefarn, though I think that Reavers of Harkenwold is more suitable for what I have in mind, being easily adaptable. Good reccomendation Mankyle , thank you Here are a few good ones: Shadowdale Sword of the Dales The Secret of Spiderhaunt Return of Randal Morn Ruins of Adventure I would also maybe recommend getting your hands on a 2nd edition sourcebook and maybe just create a small adventure to start with. Thank yuou Corpsetaker, I think you are are referring to Shadowdale: The Scouring of the Land, wich is the second module of a trilogy I did not know, not the Shadowdale Module of the AD&D As far as I have understood, the Zhentarin are only present in the second module and it seems to be very beautiful campaign according to the reviews. I knew The Sword of the Dales Trilogy, and I am evaluating whether to use only the dungeons of the first two adventures, to be played right after Doom of Daggerdale. I will have a look at Ruins of Adventure

The first link doesn't work anymore for me. It seems that they have removed the product. http://www.mcnallyrobinson.com/9780786966240/rpg-team-wizards/d-d-marathon-hc?blnBKM=1 Maybe they are going to update that product's entry soon?? I have taken a look at past years product announcements and the dates were between January 5th and January 20th. I think we will have the official announcement of the Marathon product this week, next week at the most. On the other hand, all previous Spring releases were in March-early April, while Marathon is scheduled for end of May-Mid June, so it seems a bit early for an announcement, assuming they want to keep their usual 2-3 months between announcement and release.

  • 03:42 PM - Henry quoted mankyle in post Would you buy a 5E updated reprint of the First Forgotten Realms Box Set
There is an updated Timeline recopilated by fans with accurate sources at Candlekeep.com. Here it is Cool, thank you! Like I said, I could live without such, but it would be nice enough to have all in one book, that I would have gotten such. Reading a bit of this, I do take issue with what looks like them massively retconning the setting as a way to make favorable changes, though. (Hey, Mirt's back! Hey, Durnan's not really gone! Oh, look, all your favorite gods came back! etc.) (old joke) next thing you know, The Simbul is going to catch Elminster coming out of the shower towelling off, and it's actually 1372DR and the whole thing was a dream sequence.

  • 04:10 AM - doctorbadwolf quoted mankyle in post "Dust" and "Midway" - Codenames for Upcoming D&D Hardcovers
mmm yesterday they talked about the Moonshae islands and let's remember the 4E backdrop article in a Dungeon or Dragon Magazine. in thst article they described the situation of the Moonshae islands and there was a war between the eladrin kingdom of Sarifal and the Unseelie fey with the dwarves and humans in the middle and the Vampiress in the island of Snowdown. i don't think this is a coincidence and I'm thinking that "dust" is going to be a fey related adventure set in the Moonshae Islands. just my 2 cents Interesting! WHile I'd love to see an adventure set in another world, I do love me some Moonshaes Islands. That interesting. Faerie dust brings to mind Peter Pan: pirates and natives and mermaids etc... If so, I'm excited for the potential of a Pendleton Ward collaborated Peter Pan meets the Battle of Midway adventure path and book of player+DM options. Yes, please.

Mmmmm Maybe they are linking the seven dungeons with the different pieces of the "Rod of Seven Parts"TM??? This could be a plausible link for the different adventures. I mean.... one piece lies at the end of every dungeon. If you defy all seven dungeons you will get an staff of untold power!!!! Ninja'd by nearly seven hours....hmmmmmm. Coincidence? I think not!

If you defy all seven dungeons you will get an staff of untold power!!!! If the staff has untold power, doesn't that mean that the DM can't tell you what it can do? If you can't say what it can do in a game based on words, then can it do anything? So, realistically, is a staff of untold power really a completely useless staff? Now, if I had my druthers, I'd had a katana in seven parts. Then I'd get something that would kill everything, always, because you can TELL IT'S AWESOME. And if you can't tell, well, then, I just told you. Unfortunately, katanas are unbreakable, so that won't work.
