It is at this point that Laramon imprisons the villainous pair, and casts a spell that will allow the party to question them despite their remote, catatonic state. Laramon eyes the twins coldly, "You two behave, or I'll turn you both into mice and sic my cat on you!" Laramon gives Duncan a silent, sideways glance, that seems to imply, "Just kidding, I wouldn't really do that."

Raven Elk does not respond. Perhaps at the distance, the exact words cannot be understood. Vittero offers, "Flying sounds right. Maybe he was able to jump himself from here to there. Although how he landed without breaking his legs, I cannot figure." Using what little talent he has developed to manipulate mechanical Way, Taylar tries to push air to make himself fly over to Raven Elk. The...

The Ansylin are completely indifferent to Bolo's desire to copy their brands. It has become such a commonplace for them to display such. Bolo notes that the character within the symbol is the same for the pickers as it was for the silk caravaners, but for the pickers, their symbol is a triangle and for the caravaners it is a square. Giodavi is joyous as always at the return of the Southroad...

Maka looks at the spot where Raven Elk was, then to the spot where he currently IS; a look of confusion is upon his countenance, and he stares blankly for several moments until the realization hits him like a bolt from the blue. Maka's eyes light up with recognition, although he is still unsure of the specifics. Maka looks at Taylar, and says, "These symbols in front of each tower... I believe...

Once Raven Elk sees that his friends have moved, he begins the same ritual as before. When he bends the mechanical line, nothing happens. The pattern in the waves simply dissipates and then begins again, anew. He tries a second time with the same result. He is still standing on the platform for the first keep. Vittero cups his hands to his mouth and hollers. "Are you going to walk in a circle...

The 2 females joins them and they fan out walking toward the bait in an apparent aggressive manner, still verbally arguing with one another, especially since Taylar and Raven Elk have stood calmly and silently this whole several minutes. More voices are heard from back at the split in the rise, and 4 more Amiradthae come forth, 1 more males and 3 more females, bringing the total to 10. Adisakti notes it first, but everyone else eventually notices that none of the have projectile weapons, per se'. They are all armed with stone tipped spears. Maka will attempt to knock his beetle to the ground, and if he can do so, he will follow up with a kick, akin to that of a field goal kicker, trying to score an extra point. The airborne beetle reacts faster than Maka, clacking at him with its mandibles. Beetle: 8(lethality) + 12(Attack) + 80(d100) = 100 Maka: 9(Konokoro) + 11(Defensiveness) + 72(d100) = 92 Damage: 100 - 92 = 8% * 6: ineffective While the beetle does, indeed, make contact, its clasp is ineffective. ...he summons Turtle to her side. Already low to the ground from her previous strategic knife cut, Bolo leans backward into a tuck roll to remover herself from melee, sending a signal to Turtle to follow, simultaneously. It will take 100 tics, or 1 full second for Bolo to roll back to her feet and begin moving away. The completion of the roll will have moved her 1 full space from the melee engagement. It will take her another 50 tics or half a second to retrieve her bow followed by 2 seconds to draw and fire it. Turtle shakes the dirt off his face from his failed attack and intends to lumber over to stand near Bolo to protect her from other possible attackers and serve as a reserve fighter. Turtle senses Bolo's intentions even before he begins to shake the dirt from his face. He presses his weight onto his back feet propelling himself forward and left to stay clear of the melee and not hinder Indigo. He will reach Bolo's side as she begins to draw her bow. No action has completed, yet. @Sylvar B. Saemund reacts next.

@Tellerian Hawke & @Kwargrow & @Sylvar B. I figure y'all will be going with the same characters but if you wish to replace any to try something new, let me know. That is acceptable. Due to her Academic rank, Bolo can actively control 2 companions, if she wishes to add one. Merin can only control one, but he may dismiss Myth and look for another, if he so chooses. @Aust Thale If RL slows some where you wish to pick up again with us, I will update your characters to the appropriate level, or you can choose to try something new. @tglassy This particular PbP relies much more on writing and expressing ideas than technicality. As you have expressed an interest in the past, I wanted to invite you to join in ACT II of the The Untamed Wilds campaign. I think your ability to convey your thoughts would be an asset to the entertainment value of the game.

I am still hoping that @Sylvar B. will respond, but I am going to move the story forward, bringing Saemund along of course. Sheldon responds, "An impostor!? Impossible. • 04:03 AM - Aust Thale quoted Sylvar B. in post Respen Speaks Again...
As Sylvar retreats from his conversation with Margull he pulls the others aside and tells them what he knows about him. Respen recalls seeing bits and pieces of the lore Sylvar is disclosing in one of the books Respen collected for Dame Clare. A side piece that, given Sylvar's explanation, was less legend than Respen thought. ~ Even more of a reason for Margull to plant himself here. He places the entire region at risk as he chases these other "Vampyr". ~ " Sylvar, we tempt fate planning in these trees. Perhaps one day, but as my original mentor would say, 'Mortals and immortals can not occupy the same space; mortals have too much to lose, and immortals have experienced so much loss that they are numb to it.' It's funny that I never took the warning seriously until my experience with Dame Clare. Now, despite Margull's stated intentions as well as the company he keeps, I've never held the words in such high esteem. The less time I spend around Margull, the better off I will feel. ...

  • 05:40 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Day 260: Keep 5
Taylar walks over, still perplexed by the travel method of the symbols, and scoops up a stone on the way. When the group is resettled on the porch of Keep 5 Taylar says, "We have been impressed by the power of the Yahdram to transport people and objects from one space to another, but this question still haunts me, where do we go between here and there?" To demonstrate he tosses the stone from one hand to the other. "And what happens if we go only halfway?" He grips the stone in his hand with one half hanging out, and the other enclosed in his fist. Vittero considers Taylar's audible thoughts. "I figure this process is a whole lot more complicated than we can yet determine. Half way between here and there would be a long fall." Raven Elk claps Taylar on the shoulders: "Let's go catch up with our friend." All the while, Raven Elk wants to query Adisakti on how he managed the transfer with such aplomb. Adi was always more attuned to the "other". He wanted to understand what was so easy for ...

  • 08:51 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Day 260: Adisakti and Keep 5
Adi watches with fascination, and finds the whole affair extremely interesting. "I wanna give it a try!!!" He says enthusiastically. Not giving much thought to the mechanics of actually using the teleportation circle, or the possible consequences, he eagerly jumps into the middle of the circle, picks a symbol he recognizes and manipulates its way lines to see if he can make it work. Recognizing no symbols, specifically, though recalling that several of them have been repeated in each of previously observed circles, Adisakti, prone to impetuousness, decides to see what will happen if he manipulates some of the Way lines, anyway. Having more understanding than most of the others but less ability, Adi recognizes more rapidly than Raven Elk how he should bend the lines. Not knowing if a specific order or pattern is required, when he disappears in a wave of fluctuations, he appears, a bit disoriented, on the porch of Keep 5. Vittero happens to notice Adisakti's location, first. "We can always come b...

Across the valley, standing on the porch area from Keep One, Raven Elk can clearly hear his friend yell for him. • 06:10 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Day 260: Adisakti
Adi watches the globe with extreme interest. The blinding flash intrigues him further. He runs back and grabs a few more of the fist sized globes, cutting them off their poles and tying them to his rucksack. The globes appear to have been attached to their sticks by some long dried substance that has become even harder than the wood. Adisakti accidentally breaks one of the small globes trying to pry it loose. The arm length sticks with their fist sized globes seem to have been originally manufactured for easy carry, and Adisakti finds that he can attach several to his pack, rather than stuff them inside, as it would take too long to carve the sticks in two. Three light sticks have been added to Adisakti's character record. Taylar smiles as he enters the room and takes one of the globes on a stick, using Way to light it. "It seems someone had the same idea long before I did." He takes the larger glass globe and puts it on the ground. He creeps over and looks down the slanted path. When Taylar illuminates the 'torch' globe he has acquired, before he can cover the two paces distance to the second opening, the globe he had placed on the floor begins to glow, seemingly, of its own volition. Adi has found that he is fascinated by the light up globes... and is therefore immediately intrigued by the globes on the sticks. He grabs one, studies it for a moment then lights the globe with as much way as he thinks it can handle. Adisakti finds no distinct markings or oddities about the 'torch' globe. When he decides to illuminate it, the globe on the floor becomes brighter after a single second's delay. The other 'torches' remain as inert as they were before. Vittero cracks his knuckles and retrieves a torch of his own. "In...

  • 08:51 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Day 259: Manipulating Way Lines
Adi’s mind wanders as usual during the whole moving/burning the corpse episode. Usually he is trying to think of ways to make his friends laugh... this time though, he has an epiphany, when the solemn moment is over he pipes up... "Hey guys, you know how I used the Way that was in the globes to enhance my manipulation... I wonder if we can use a globe to combine our abilities to manipulate more Way on a single Way line." Back in the dining room, Vittero stops walking at Adi's words. "That is an interesting idea. I think you are saying that we might be able to make our manipulation more powerful. We should try it." Attempting to manipulate thermal Way through one of the globes warps the globe when heat is increased, but no effect is amplified or carried. Attempting to manipulate mechanical Way causes one of the globes to shatter with a terrible ringing sound. Chemical Way and Mystic Way have no affect, but when manipulating electromagnetic Way, whether with regard to light or shock, the effect is...

  • 04:49 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Day 259: Moving to the Kitchen
Taylar says, "Let's check out the room that the spirit came from next." Adi looks at Taylar and says “Hold on a second.” He raises his hand to his mouth and kisses his palm, then holds his arm up at an angle, with three fingers extended, spits on the ground three times, then spins in place while saying “boogidy woogidy”, also three times. When he stops, he smiles and winks at Raven, then gives Taylar a stern look. “I’m ready, let’s go.” Vittero - Seeing his friend's ridiculous display, Vittero is well aware that Adi is, as usual, vying for some attention. He rolls his eyes and shakes his head, but despite better desire, he lacks the necessary discipline to refrain. "Yea, we should move out of this small room. I think the stale air in here is starting to get to Adi." He laughs in good-natured manner. Leaving what was obviously the bedroom of this keep's previous owner, the crew moves back through the dining area and into the utilitarian room to the east. This room was most definitely a kitchen...

Adi walks into the room but doesn’t say much, he lets the others search while he keeps an eye open for more spirits. After a cursory look, Vittero takes up a position opposite Adi to keep watch, as well. While he is looking and listening to keep a wary guard, it occurs to Adisakti that he may be able to extend his extra-sensory perception for potential threats. • 03:33 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Adisakti and the Silverware
Adi marvels at the artifacts left on the tables, he picks up some of the silver utensils. He looks at his friends. You don't suppose the dead are in need of these silver spoons, forks or knives do you? He slips a few into his pouch, then it occurs to him to see what sort of way the silver would help him manipulate. Adisakti fumbles each individual utensil over his fingers hoping to ascertain some indication that the items gravitate to a particular proclivity. With a deep sigh of dissatisfaction, the twik (weird name for a two tined stabbing utensil), spoon, and knife not only harbor no proclivity, they show no fluctuation at all. It is as if the heat and molding necessary to form them has ruined their natural alignment in favor of an aesthetic function, like weapons which show nothing of the proclivity of their ores. It was a good thought though. It is better for the characters to attempt a few things that do not work as indicative of an actual learning process. What the characters learn from th...

Taylar will assist with healing his friends, and search the room thoroughly before the group moves on. roll: 62 ... After congratulating Adi, Maka will help with healing, and give Taylor a hand with his search. Anyone with a sharp eye will notice that as he searches, Maka seems pre-occupied by some intense thought. ~This is not as the ancestors have recorded in the bead chain. • 05:09 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Day 259: An Angry Spirit, Adisakti
Adi approaches the illuminated glass globe that is closest to the ghost and puts his hand on it and tries to use it as a conduit to manipulate more electromagnetic Way than he could alone. He tries to combine his manipulation with whatever is there already and direct it toward the apparition. Clever Idea. Double XP will be awarded for this. Speed of Action: Reaction Time - Hindrance Adisakti: -178 - 72(clothing) - 100(movement/way) = -350 Seeing that the Spirit has shown more particular agitation and vulnerability to the manipulation of electromagnetic Way than any other, Adisakti attempts an innovative idea, and moves to touch the globe nearest Vittero, which is also nearest the Spirit. • 03:44 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Day 259: The Anteroom
Raven Elk picks up stray pigeon feathers... There are plenty of loose feathers due to the population of resident pigeons. Having some familiarity, now, with the proclivity of harvesters, Raven Elk is able to put together 3 full sets that could augment the Health of the possessor. Adi finds the trick with the globes extremely amusing and rushes over to make them turn off and on repeatedly... The globes respond in kind, yet there is about a second delay each time. After a few manipulations, Adisakti is suddenly befuddled by the fact that he can no longer illuminate the globes. He, also, suddenly realizes that he is completely out of breath. The fatigue is much greater than had he run up the steps to arrive. Vittero snickers a bit at the self-induces predicament. "Uh huh! You forgot about the fatigue while you were having fun. Now you will need to rest for a few minutes until you can generate any more weaves." Taylar... pauses to watch the effects of the lights, interested in whether or not the ...

Adi is awestruck by the ruins, after taking it all in. Adi agrees with Taylar. "Enough of this standing around, We need to find something to fight. All of this hiking as made me itch for some action. Lets start with Vittero's number one and take them in that order, they might even be connected from the inside. I'll scout ahead." Adi jogs toward the first facade, paying attention to what is in front of him. Consciously avoiding twigs and dry leaves so that his approach is as quiet as possible. He also attempts to manipulate Way to quiet his steps. Stealth: Effectiveness: Inversion (Collegiate Task) + Body + Motility + Commercial + d100 This active task is applied when attempting to obscure oneself from view or to dampen and, ultimately prevent sound while moving. • 05:15 PM - MacConnell quoted Sylvar B. in post Day 238: Feroz and Saemund
Knowing that Feroz can't see through canopy, Saemund (in the best way possible) communicates to Feroz that he should fly below the canopy and warn the party of anyone who approaches unseen. Saemund allows the Deviard to walk past Indigo, so that Indigo can easily dispatch the enemy. His consciousness cringing at the duplicity of the action, yet at ease knowing the action saved the lives of his friends. Saemund will also search for nearby Deviards, and repeat the attack on their mind. Feroz: 93 - 300(movement) = -207 Saemund: -43 - 200(Way) = -243 Feroz, from his nearby perch, nods his head like a person would in acknowledgement. He flaps his powerful wings and diverts westward looking for enemies. He cannot soar like he would prefer, but he is able to stay above the undergrowth and periodically land on other tree limbs. Just before Saemund is able to sense the enemy in front of Tor, Feroz calls his location. The Seekers may no be able to move directly there, being confined to the paths due t...

Saemund reads the Way lines to find out where the other Benders are. If he finds them, he will alert the party to their locations and use an Emberstone ingot to cause the loss of will in the nearest one. Saemund pin points that there are two Benders within his range, separated by quite a distance. One is down the path from Indigo. The other is up the path from Tor. Obviously there was some predetermined strategy in their location. Both being about equal distance, Saemund chooses to target the one straight ahead, as he has yet been unaffected. On seeing the stacked bricks, San-Bolo look around to see if they can spot anyone spying on them. It seems unlikely someone would place these items here and not watch to see what the Seekers do. They do not approach or take the stacked metal. Unlike the Da'Roneh side of the lake, the undergrowth is quite thick, impeding not only egress away from the trail but also significantly obscuring vision. No one is visible down any path of the trails; however, the upland path seems to proceed into a less undergrown area. Sannit shakes his head. "It seems they think increasing the bribe will persuade us. The fools. If only they came and spoke to us they could make friends and allies as well as keep the peace. What do the rest of you make of this?" Sheldon, keen to throw in some sarcasm... "I am sure there will be a significant language barrier... if they are not up to some trick. All kidding aside, I an sense from this distance that that is a stack of iron, not tin. They have increased the value of...

Adi thinks to himself, ~I'm not going to be the one to give up because of some temporary hardship, and I'll be damned if I won't catch and eat some of these lizards I've been seeing before being the first one to bring up being hungry.~ Adi spends part of the next day trying to catch some of the larger reptiles he sees. Adisakti: 24 + 12(konokoro) + 94(d100) = 130 Adisakti sees no sign of the Keep during the three days. The second day, Adi discovers other common reptiles but nothing more significant. The third day, Adi discovers a pod of large beetles. Adi is able to capture or kill, if he so desires to eat them, several common lizards. As it happens, they are good to eat.
